While Iranian and Greek paganism have become extinct, Hinduism isn't just surviving it's thriving. The decentralised, amoebic nature of Hinduism has helped it survive several waves of invasions, conversions and plundering

But I thought Hinduism is in danger?!?!? How is it thriving if it has been in (constant) danger for the last 800 years?
Secondly, the Iranians (i.e. Persians) and Greeks moved on from one set of superstitious beliefs to another dramatically different sets of superstitious beliefs,
while Hindus have clung on to gradually modified versions of old superstitious beliefs.

So basically the presentor rants on about how the kushans adapted hindu gods, zoroastrian gods and greek gods for political purposes - while the videos title suggests that the perception of hindu gods were actively and consciously moulded using external influences by practising hindus over the ages in some sort of concerted effort to econcile the differences between other pagan religions and hinduism - the presentor does illustrate the fact that attempts at using religion for furthering political narratives is not exclusive to rulers of the past but extends even to historians of the present - he has stirived hard to lead by example in this regard...

I first realised it when on @Cognito channel I was watching this vdo abt Zoroastrianism.
In Hinduism 'Asur' depicts Evil forces and 'Dev' good ones
on contrary in Zoroastrianism 'Azur/Asur' is good one while 'Devs' r bad one.
But mind you, I m talking abt 'Dev' & 'Asur/Azur' as a word/name only, not actual Group of good and bad forces.
Most probably both groups of those ancient ppl had same idea of good & bad forces but it's only the name which they hadn't agreed upon.
So Zoroastrians called The Good Forces as 'Azur/Asur' and Sanatanis named the same Good Forces 'Dev'.

The devatas were not born of nationalistic unitary imaginations; they were born of non dualist interpretations about natural aspects which a living individual is seen not being different from. Sure, here and there you can borrow inspirations on depictions; like Ravi Verma's paintings with European elements or Kushanas Greek influences. But if the question is that these devatas were forged in nationalistic identity of empires; their depictions wouldn't have had the inertia it does, that is their depictions should have changed or not seeped through to rival empires or regions within India. And what does some Pallava or Chola king in the South that conforms to a similar depiction have anything to do with the Kushanas?
The answer is quite the opposite; the Vedic deities due to their conceptualization were of open architecture and people assimilated them into their folk depictions or deities. Its not the other way round.

Aryan or caste hindus practise Iranian religion which were influenced by Greeks, Sumerians, Mesopotamian, Assyrians, Egyptian gods. For a short period of time Iranians even converted to bhuddhism during the time Ashoka.conquered half of Iran.
Kushans were chinese in orgin moved frm Iran or centreal asia into Afganistan n Pakistan region. Thus their gods had deep greel, persian n bhuddist influence.
Native indian gods were Bhuddist n Tribal belief system of adivasis.
Brahminism rose only after pushya mitra shunga tenure when he forcefully injected Brahminism into Hinduism or native indian beloef system.
Thus Brahminism is an Iranian n abusive n colonial system. Thus caste system of Brahnins have colonial n racial overtone.

According to ancient Persian legends recorded in Shahnama, the history of ancient Iran begins with conflict of Ahuras (Asuras) and Daevas (Devas). Probably, Daeva or false god or evil spirit
Ahriman posed a great challenge to Ahur Mazda. Gayomart or Keyumars was the first king of Zoroastrians or Iranians. He was also the contemporary of Ahriman. Daeva Indra was also an enemy of Ahuras. In all probability, Ahriman was Aryaman who was one of the Adityas of early Vedic period. Devas and Asuras of early Vedic period were cousin brothers. They were always in
conflict for political supremacy. Puranic legends relate the legend of Tripurasura and his son Gayasura. Seemingly, Ahur Mazda (Mahasura or Asura Mahad) and his son Gayomart were Tripurasura and Gayasura. Avesta is the oldest text of Zoroastrianism. It is well known that there are significant similarities in the words and grammar of Avestan and Vedic Sanskrit languages. Avesta mentions Mithra, Varuna, Indra, Yama etc. Gathas of Avesta mention Rudra along with Angra Mainyu. Yajurveda’s one mantra (“नमस्ते रुद्र मन्यव”) also mentions Rudra and Manyu. Vedic and post Vedic sources indicate that Asuras also performed Yajnas. Gopatha Brahmana (1.1.10) refers to Asuraveda of Pratichyas (westerners) and Asita Dhānvan, an Asura Rishi. Asita is also mentioned in Avesta.
Shānkhāyana Shrauta Sutra mentions about Asuravidyā. Evidently, Asuras compiled their own Veda for performing rituals. The same Asuraveda came to be known as Avesta. Unfortunately, a major portion of Avesta text is now lost. Seemingly, Asuras, cousin brothers of Devas compiled their own Veda. Many Vedic Rishis taught Vedic sciences to Asuras. Sukracharya, a famous Guru of Asuras was known as Kāvi or Kava Us or
Kaikaus in Zoroastrianism. Sukracharya was the son of Kavi. He was referred to as Ushanas Kāvya in Rigveda Anukramani. Asuras evolved Avestan Sanskrit based on their own grammar from Proto Sanskrit. Thus, Vedic Sanskrit and Avestan Sanskrit have been artificially evolved and limited to only learned people. The common people of Asura community spoke Proto Iranian that was naturally evolved from Proto Sanskrit. It appears that the early Asuras had settled in Gāndhāra region on the banks of Helmand River. According to Vedic legends, Saramā Devashuni met Panis, a business clan of Asuras on the banks of Rasa River. Most probably, Rasa River was Helmand River of Afghanistan. King Bāhlika (Kuru dynasty) and King Gāndhara (Druhyu dynasty) conquered northern and southern Afghanistan respectively and established their kingdoms around 11100-11000 BCE.
Asuras had no other option to migrate further westwards. They settled in Iran, Iraq, Syria and Southern Anatolia. Pani Asuras (known as Phoenicians in the west) migrated up to Atlantic Ocean and a group of Panis might have founded the city of Atlantis which was submerged by sea around 10000 BCE. When the monsoons weakened after 11000 BCE, many groups of Dānavas and Turvashas had also migrated up to Greece and Druhyus had migrated to Sumeria and Syria. Thus, the speakers of Proto-Sanskrit and Proto-Iranian languages laid foundation for the evolution ofall west Asian and European languages. Therefore, Proto-Sanskrit was indeed the mother of Proto Indo-Iranian and Proto Indo-European languages. It appears that the early Zoroastrianism of Asuras was extended from Iran to Southern Anatolia and posed a challenge to Danavas and Turvashas, the early settlers of Greece. Seemingly, there were at least two Zoroasters. The first Zarathushtra also known as Ashu Zarathushtra or Zarathushtra Spitama was the author of Gathas and Yasna Haptanghaiti of Avesta. Though Yayavara brahmanas of Rigvedic era had names like Jaratkaru etc. but Yayavara brahmanas always followed Vedic tradition. Sanskrit poets Bhavabhuti and Rajashekhara belonged to the clan of Yayavara brahmanas. Ancient Greek sources also refer to two Zoroasters. Hermodorus (10th century BCE) believed that Zoroaster I lived 5000 years before the date of Trojan war (1842 BCE). Eudoxus also placed Zoroaster I 6000 years before the lifetime of Plato (11th century BCE).
Evidently, Zarathushtra I flourished around 7000 BCE and authored Gathas and Yasna Haptanghaiti of Avesta and recompiled Avesta. Zarathushtra I was like a Veda Vyasa of Zoroastrianism. He transformed Zoroastrianism into Monotheism and founded the basic tenets of Zoroastrian philosophy. This is how an Asuraveda transformed into Avesta and Zoroastrianism
around 7000 BCE. Interestingly, Zoroastrianism accepted the Indian concept of Mahayuga of 12000 years that evolved after Ramayana era. Zoroastrianism followed equal length of four Yugas
(3000 years of each Yuga) Instead of the differential duration (4:3:2:1) of four Yugas. Danavas and Turvashas of post Vedic era were the worshippers of Vedic devatas like Mitra, Varuna, Indra, Nāsatya and Agni etc. These Vedic gods had been transformed into Greek gods. 12 Olympian gods are like 12 Adityas of Vedic era. The common people from Afghanistan to East Europe prominently worshipped God Mithra. Gradually, Mitra became synonymous to Surya (Sun). Zarathushtra I’s monotheism also influenced the philosophy of Mitra god worshippers of East Europe. Thus, Mithraism was born in East Europe and became a popular religion before the
birth of Christianity around 600-300 BCE. Mithraism has been meticulously destroyed and wiped out by the Christian fraudster scholars and their authoritarian kings. Probably, many Indian families of Balochistan and Gandhara had also migrated to Sumeria, Babylon, Egypt around 11000 BCE. Puranas indicates that the sons of Prachetas, a descendant of Druhyu dynasty migrated to west and became the kings of Mlechcha countries. Sumerians and Egyptians started learning the basics of Indian astronomy and mathematics in the post-Ramayana era. This is the reason why Sumerians and Egyptians also believed that their gods and ancestors reigned for thousands of years. Sumerians and Egyptians also followed the Yuga of 4,32,000 years. A group of Babylonians came under the influence of Zoroastrianism who evolved the philosophy of Judaism. Yavanas and Bactrians of northern Afghanistan and Turkmenistan learnt the Surya Siddhanta of Mayasura (6778 BCE) and evolved Yavana Siddhanta under the influence of Surya Siddhanta. Many familes of Yavanas had migrated to Greece and western Anatoliaaround 5000-4500 BCE and came to be known “Ionians” and “Javans”. These migrated Yavanas traced the Vedic origin of Greek gods & goddesses and introduced the Indian sciences to Greece. Consequently, Hellenistic Greek mythology and Hellenistic sciences have been evolved.

The tendency of kings to rule with "divine right" is very much a Persian idea borne from the great schism between Vedic and Avestan cultures. Kushan culture was more inspired by greater Bactro-Persian culture as compared to indegenous Indian kings who believed more in the "king as a servant".

This guy is trying to judge Kanshikas as if he was alive at that time. Bottom line is that he is trying to say that gods were created for political purpose. By the way, this guy is best deciple of Irfan Habib and Romila Thapar. Mr. Genius, I have a question for you. Your fellow left historians theory was that Dravidians were native people from Indus civilization and driven out to south by Aryans from the west. Then why south indians especially tamilians worship Skand and Shiva who have Iranian origin per you? As per you these were the Gods created or adopted by Kanishkas from Iran for political purposes. Moreover, in Ramayana, Rushi Valmiki narrates the birth of Kumara\Skanda\Saravana in balakanda (Kumara Sambhavam). So, you mean, Ramayana was written some time later than Kushan empire is it? Mr. genius historian please spare some time to answer my questions.

One of the Serbian folk songs sounds like the Svasti vachan of the Vedic tradition. It is reproduced here before delving into the Serbian version.
    Swasthir maanushebhyah :
    Oordhwam jigaathu bheshajam/
    Sham no asthu dwi-padhe:
    Sham chathush padhe
    OM Shanti Shanti Shanti:
    Translation:-
Let there be goodness to human beings.
Let the plants which are like medicine to us, grow up well.
Let the bipeds and quadrupeds be well.
Let there be our goodwill to them.
Let there be peace at all three levels of
    Bhu (earth or physical ),
    Bhuvah (intermediary or vital)
and svah (heaven or mental levels of) all these beings.
The Serbian version prays for the well being of the quadrupeds and human beings in a similar way by invoking the three Gods symbolized by Triglav - the three Gods resembling the Trimurti of the Vedic pantheon.
The Ser...May our cattle be healthy
All the cows and all the sheep
All the kids and all the lambs
    All the great big horses
    Which carry our heroes
Dear solders of the god Triglav
    god Triglav the holy trinity
    Vishnji god, the creator
    Strong Živa the destrojer
    and Branjanj the protector...
The names of the Gods Vishnji, Živa and Branjanj in the last three lines sound similar to Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma, with a slight variation in the works associated with them.
From the version given by three different biographers ( Ebbo, Herbord and monk from Priflinger) who lived between 8th and 12th century CE, it is known that Triglav with three heads was characterised as ruling the three worlds, heaven, earth and underworld. This resembles the three levels of Bhu, Bhuvah and Svah. The three Gods enshrined in Triglav are unmistakably the Trimurtis of the Vedic culture.
Other folk songs of Serbia give us some clues on the time period of a connection with India.
In the song titled, “The saints are dividing the treasure” Ognjena Marija (Fiery Mary) sister of St Petar, St Nicolas, St John, St Ilia and St Pantelija tells her brothers why she is crying:
...And kind Mary (Holy Mary) replies:
O my brother, Thunder god Ilija
    how can i not cry
when i am coming from country of India
    from India the accursed country.
In India there is complete lawlessness:
young are not respecting the old,
    children are not respecting parents,
they have black cheeks before the god of truth,
    a godfather is betraying godson,
    brother is fighting brother,
brother in law is sleeping with sister in law,
and brother does not call his sister a sister...
In this verse the thunder God Ilija is the same as Indra and it is the only God other than the Trimurti that find mention in the folk songs revealed in the blogspot.
The name India appears as “Inđije” in this song. The song clearly establishes origins in India and leaving India under distress in a war like condition.
The name India is of recent origin. If the composers of this song had come from India at some time in the past, it is least probable that they identified the country as India if it was before the Common Era. The song describes all round lawlessness - something unthinkable anytime in the pre-Islamic India. We can therefore confidently place the time of origin of these singers in India towards the end of the first millennium of the Common Era. Support for this conjecture comes from another folk song of Serbia.
This song is a ‘Christmas time ceremonial prayer song’ found in the collection of Vuk Stef. Karadžić. It gives important clues on the time period of this song. It is in the form of a dialogue with a dove which flew to India! The singer asks the Dove where he was flying. The Dove says ‘to India, our country’!
    ...gray Živa, mighty gray,
    mighty gray dove!
    where did you travel?
and gray Živa, mighty gray dove, answers:
    "I traveled all the way
    To India our country.
    I flew over Hindustan
    And over Tatarstan
    Black Hindus and Tatarus.
    I flew to our Master
    Our mighty God Triglav
And I watched what he was doing
What he was doing and ordering.”
The names Hindušana (Hindustan), Tartariju (Tatars) and Hinduš (Hindus) in this song can only be of recent origin
    U Inđiju našu zemlju.
    Prolećela Hindušana
    I tu Globu Tartariju
    Crni Hinduš i Tartaru.
The Dove describes an India that is different from what the crying Mary described to her brothers. To a question on what Triglav was doing in India, the Dove replies that He is doing good, making gold and silver cups. The implied message is that Triglav continues to be in India and not in Serbia! The Dove suggests that they can alternatively pray to the younger God Svarožić (Dabog, the baby Sun) who can give them all goodness and most importantly no fear of ‘Hindustan’, ‘Tataria’ and ‘Manchuria’ as Dabog has no fear of these three.
Young God Svarožić (Winter solstice sun, baby sun, Dabog, the Giving god)
    To give us everything good
    Most of all long life.
    Long life good health
And wealth that God Dabog carries with him.
Young god Svarožić (Dabog) sings in all the land
He is not afraid of Hindustan
Neither is he afraid of black Tataria
    Nor the immense wasteland
    A bloody black Globa
black Globa Tataria (I don't know what Globa means, but it could be Gobi desert),
    And that nasty Manchuria.
Caustic references to Globa Tataria and Manchuria clearly reveal the issues troubling the composers of these songs. The composers who once lived in India had to shift to Serbia fearing threat to their life in a situation of total lawlessness all around. The major threat had come from Tatars and Manchurians. From the presently available records, we can say that the murderous raids of Genghis Khan in North - North West parts of olden India - in what is now Pakistan and Afghanistan - had been referenced in these songs. The people who had faced grave threat to life in these parts of olden India had fled to Serbia and beyond. Their travails have been retained in ballads. The use of names such as India and Hindustan and ‘ji’ in Vishnji can only be from this time period of Mongol raids.
This also gives rise to a view that the idea of Triglav was taken by them from India and that Triglav was not present in Slavic pantheon before. But there are references to the contrary.
The earliest reference to Triglav comes in the works of Ebbo (c. 775 - 851) which is much earlier to Mongol raids. Ebbo had personally seen the worship of Triglav in Serbia as a three headed deity ruling the three worlds (heaven, earth and under sorld). According to him Triglav was the highest Slavic God and there was a temple for him in the city of Volin on the slopes of three hills. This must be Wolin of Poland known for a temple of Triglav described by another chronicler, Adam of Bremen (11th century CE). Interestingly the archaeological find of Triglav of Wolin is four-headed and not three headed!
Another four-faced Triglav was discovered in Ukraine in 1848 and this was dated at 11th to 12th century CE. From the description of the researcher Dynda we get a detailed picture of the pillar of Triglav of this find. The pillar of Triglav is divided into three parts with the bottom most one having figures holding the pillar above. The topmost one has four heads facing four directions. They are covered with a common cap. The pillar is said to represent the axis connecting the three worlds, earth, heaven and under world.
The four headed Triglav also has a parallel in Vedic culture - in the form of Brahma. Brahma the creator God is originally four faced - indicating creation on all four sides. But iconographic depiction of him can show only three faces and he is shown with three faces only in many places in India.
The four faced deity can be mistaken for a three faced one, if, and only if the interpretation had not been native to the place where it is found. The inter-change between three faced and four faced image for Triglav exactly reveals a secondary evolution of Thought on Triglav which is not native to Slavic tradition. This means the pillar (in the nature of Dhvajā or standard), the concept of axis associated with the pillar, the three worlds under the rule of Triglav and the three works of creation, protection and destruction are not at all the original concepts of Slavic theology but a borrowed or an imported one.
