You are such an inspiration! I binge watched all of your videos and learned so much. Thank you so much! I just bought an RV class C and can hardly wait to experience living life in it ! I hope I have as great a time as you do. Once again Thank you so much ! Looking forward to watching your upcoming Christmas video.
We are so excited to get out there and visit all these states! We were planning to leave last month (was our goal a year ago) then we found out Mo had throat cancer. We find out Wednesday if they got it all!! 🤞 If so, it won’t be long!! Thank you for this list…twice 😆 We’ve followed you from day one and you’ve been a source of encouragement for a long time! Your trip to Alaska set it in stone for us ❤️ thank you!!
At the beginning of your video, you asked which state we would like to explore with an RV (which I've never done). Oregon was the first state that came to mind, and the first one on your list! I've been to Oregon once and loved it. Crater Lake is stunning!
Hi Carolyn. What a great list you made. I loved that you listed my favorite state of Arkansas. The natural beauty and the people were my reasons. UP of Michigan was my second. My third is New Mexico. I loved the mountains up in the area of Cimmeron. The beauty and historic places made for wonderful traveling. Please continue your tremendous videos! Hope you and Sadie continue to be safe on the road.
Hey Carolyn! You replied to my comment on the first video. I've changed my name and pic since this morning. (Figured maybe not such a good idea to use my real name and image online). Anyway, my comment was about the summer my daughter and I lived in my 2003 Impala, and that Wyoming was my favorite. You were so kind to respond. I went to thank you, and my paranoid self was afraid I broke your video somehow, LOL! 😂 Anyway, thank you for all the GREAT content! ❤
My poor lungs would not allow living at 10,000 Even as a kid it was tough as I did not listen about not running around on day 1. Bad headaches. Ouch Your in great shape. I admire you. Wish I needed a waggle. Such a deal. I’m trying to think of a friend that may need it. Hugs
I sure do enjoy your videos! And I personally like that you don’t always have it “perfect” - it shows you’re really just like the rest of us! Thanks for sharing again 😊
West & East Oregon, North & East California, North Central Arizona, North East New Mexico...all depending on the season. Definitely planning on Homer Alaska someday. Great video 🌄
Thank you so much for this list. I don’t like playing the elevation temperature game bc I don’t like being closer to the sun. People don’t mention this. Yes you are getting closer to the sun. It’s going to be brighter and more intense, even though it’s colder. Higher potential for sunburn and cataracts. Which I find very strange, as someone who has spent my whole life close to sea level. I’d rather be on the coast than inland during the summer anyways:) Arkansas is a good recommendation. I will check out that one. Currently enjoying May in Santa Fe. Yes I am closer to the sun than I would like to be here lol but I’m putting up with it because the city is so traveler friendly. Would be interesting to have a list of cities that are van friendly. I’m actually in a sedan. Santa Fe is very traveler friendly because they make their money as a tourist destination. I like to be in or near a city because that’s where I do my work. Last year it was Flagstaff but I feel that city is less traveler friendly. Santa Fe has the artistic bohemian vibe that is ideal for helping someone like me blend in rather than calling attention.
Really enjoyed the top 10 list. I'm originally from Co. Just know it the window for boondocking it's pretty much like Alaska. You're only going to get 3, 4 mo. If we're having what's referred to as a Indian summer. Colorado the snow and cold flies 8 months out of the year NOT 6. Like most places that have snow and cold. I'm from the foothills of Denver so you did not explore any of the northern mountain ranges at all. And they are absolutely stunning and gorgeous. But a lot changed when I was a kid in the '60s and Colorado discovered skiing and all of the ski resorts were opened up. Now prior to that as a kid. Every weekend we went to the mountains and camped. So much free land to camp on not much private land at all. And boy has that changed. So much private land. And all the mountain towns are just filled to the brim with tourists. But as far as the weather. If I was wealthy I would live in the mountains of my home state of Colorado every stinking summer. You can't beat it NO humidity PERFECT WARM weather even in the mountains that are referred to as the teeners 12,000 ft and higher. To get out of Fl.summer heat and humidity. But I love my home state. I have a very progressed rheumatic disease very painful on a daily basis. I just can't take those long hard winters. I don't know how the rest of my family does it! p.s. if you ever do make it to the northern Rockies. You have to go to Red rocks (right above a little town called Morrison which is a really cool little mountain town) climb/hike around on the rocks. Try to go WHEN there is a rock concert because Red rocks amphitheater has the best sound system that you will ever hear. Especially for a rock concert. It's down in the rocks.Because the formation of the rocks up and around the stage is why the sound is so awesome. I've lived in a lot of different states I've been to oodles of outdoor concerts I've worked oodles of outdoor concerts. Never in my life have I heard the sound system like at Red rocks amphitheater. There's an old U2 video you can RUclips and see what it looks like hope this helps?!
Though not my native state, Arizona is now my home and I do know that we have elevations of over 10,000 feet. And summer in the Flagstaff area can require a sweater in the evenings. Yes it gets very hot down south but our northern desert regions cool down nicely.
Hi Carolyn. I am wondering if there is a technical glitch. I added a nice comment about Colorado and you marked it with a heart. Now the comment is completely gone. Any idea why? Just wondering. :o)
woohoo 🎉 my state made the list #10 the beautiful 🥰 state of Oregon I live in Eastern Oregon in Baker County in the high desert 🏜 where I live is right by Farewell Bend State Park and the Snake River Recreational Area and there is a lot of boon-docking areas just around the corner and we’re just a short drive from the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest 🌳 I love ❤️ the idea we can just randomly decided to go camping for the weekend or longer and we have everything we could ever want just a few miles from the house 🥰❤️🥰 Carolyn have you ever explored this part of Oregon?😊
Thanks! This video was good info. You are an excellent expert by pure experience. I lived in Arkansas for 10 years and found the state lands and campgrounds to be excellent. That was in the 80s so I don't know about changes since then. The political far right had taken over Arkansas politics since the 80s and that usually doesn't support any public services, so it was good to hear that at least some of the state lands and campgrounds are still protected. I want to go up the east coast and Appalachians this summer but expect to have a harder time with my camper van, There are a lot of Harvest Host places to spend the night if you pay the membership and meet their qualifications, but that isn't camping. The only federal lands in the east are in the Appalachians which also doesn't have a lot of accessible free dry camping sites. So,, well see how going up the east coast works out.
I love your videos. I’m a newbie Did you get Valley Fever in Arizona? Which area? Valley Fever fungus is all over South West so I’m concerned about getting it living on the desert. I’m not fond of the rain and mosquitoes in Oregon. CA so expensive fir has and food. I’m in a travel trailer so it’s more challenging to boondock when towing and unhitching and hitching. Thank you
Can you make recommendations in states where you can stay under 1300 feet as i have a heart and lung issue and can't go higher. Wondering how to get from chicago to texas and then LA and saugus without going too high up. Any ideas how to do this? thank you
Your videos are great but I do fear that these places will get busy and these beautiful options will be taken from us sometimes less people know the better
I’ve RV most of my life but never boondocked. I want to! Im headed on a 6 week trip and will be headed up 395 from So Cal to Reno NV. Can you suggest a very safe place to try boondocking along 395?
That only works at high altitude though. The Summers are brutally hot. 60 - 75 days 90° + . Even at 6500' in Colorado springs. People are very unfriendly and vindictive to rvers. Colorado is extremely expensive as well. Police harass me all the time. I've been boondicking in denver and suburbs for 5 years. Im watching this video in extreme duress to find somewhere else to go . I hate it here
Well,.... Carolyn. I own a cabin in AK in a Nat'l Park on a few acres and "14 million to play in ", not there now but must go back to take care of it. Have been delayed by a death and the rest. Homesteaded-by-marriage. You betcha' no body cares.

Great video! I made notes 10 to 1. Your videos & talks are straightforward, very informative. In a way , *You're living the dream!"

Arizona’s White Mountains is a fairly cool summer go to place…Greer, AZ elevation is 8,500.

I'm a California girl, based in WA right now, but on my way back this summer, can hardly wait.
I'm so happy that your top two choices are my top two favorite states ever. Thank you the great descriptions of each state.
I was rooting for MT …however you are right open space and privately owned.
West & East Oregon, North & East California, North Central Arizona, North East New Mexico...all depending on the season. Definitely planning on Homer Alaska someday. Great video 🌄
This is all my retirement plan to spend about a year also on 395...ha completely forgot about ALL of Nevada. ❤️
Thanks for the list! Glad you included Michigan!!

Yes - Mt Lemmon in Tucson is supposed to be like Canada at the top.
I caught the changes. 😂🤣 thought I had a mini stroke but realized what I heard and saw. 👍🏻

Carolyn, I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!!!
I also like South Dakota. Wide open space in the National Grasslands adjacent to Badlands National Park.
This video is definitely on my saved list
