Howmuch is the upgrade to prestige ?
The food how is it and the beach have seaweed?? Is it good for 2 yr old? Planning to go end of may 2023

@@thecouzinz66sorry for the delay. The food at the time was mediocre at best. You could find one or two items to live off of. They had a couple areas for toddlers. 2-3 separate pools w slides for the kids
You need to spend some time downtown Varadero for good food; the food is low because of the economy trying to recover. Some resorts can’t even serve chicken or beef. Pretty confident if the economy recovers things will get better, there’s been a shortage of everything even gas. Got stuck in Varadero this month cause the only gas station in town that serves tourists ran out of gas. Cuba makes majority of its income on tourism; hope more people come respect and contribute to help a beautiful country.
You're 100% correct. On our way to the resort from the airport, our driver explained that they were recovering from the pandemic and that food and drink will be limited. We went to downtown Varadero a couple nights, the food was night and day. I'll upload a video of our off resort fun

I believe the sea view is facing the other direction of the resort. Still a beautiful view depending how high up you are. When are you going ?
Stayed here Dec 2022. Food was great if you pay the extra for Prestige Level. Staff are helpful and efficient. Japanese restaurant was not worth the wait. Steak at the Cuban restaurant was perfect. Prestige level is worth it as you can eat ala carte every meal. Breakfast on roof top is excellent. Roberto was our concierge. Very knowledgeable helpful. Betty (and her assistants) kept our room spotless. Beach is very swimmable. Prestige bar is amazing with a huge selection or alcohol from all over the world. Great selection of rum (Ron Santiago 11). Will be coming back here in the near future if we cant get a good price at Cio Coco.

Just got back from the place last Friday. The hotel is beautiful and rooms are great as well minus the bad smell of humidity (AC throws cold air but does not extract humidity). Food wise, you need to accept desserts are horrible and you won't get any beef or seafood (only fish). Otherwise there was a great variety of chicken and pork dishes and not as bad as expressed in this video (maybe we were lucky). The specialized restaurant are not really worth it other than being served.
Maybe we were unlucky with the food situation and the drink situation. Compared to Mexico, DR and Jamaica, it's definitely a step down in food and drink quality. Hence the price difference I guess. Happy you enjoyed your stay and I agree that the hotel and beach are beautiful. 10/10

Hello... by the time I had to book prices had gone up... So, I selected the cheapest option in Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. A lot of things were not available because of logistics, but we enjoyed ourselves.
Really nice resort, but drinks are important I don’t think I could stay for too long 😂

This is a resort that I have visited continuously for 10 vacations. I do not agree with your comments on the food being bad...does anyone go on a vacation for food? The food is okay but sometimes good...the staff make up for the difference. Just my 2 cents. I have booked this resort and going again this month. Cheers from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Hey, a fellow Torontonian. We went during the pandemic and was told that they were still recovering. Perhaps you went once they fully recovered. There was a noticeable difference w Mexico, DR and Jamaica in regards to food and drink. Off the resort though, we had some amazing food. Anyways, glad you enjoyed your stay. Any chance of an upload ?

Thanks for the comment. At the time of travel, there were no hamburgers, hot dogs or fries. They had cheese pizza but I personally wouldn't call it cheese pizza. More like does w a little pasta sauce and very few sprinkles of cheese. Dont pack an appetite. Everything aside from the food is amazing
We’re heading there in a week - to this resort. I was curious what they have to eat at the late night snack bar? And you said the food wasn’t great - what were some staples that you enjoyed while you were there? Just trying to prepare the food side of my suitcase haha 😊
Late night snack bar is very limited and not that great. Hamburger is not made from beef, chicken strips are OK but not fried and they leave the skin on. Hot dogs are ok. Better to eat at the buffet.
Sorry for the late reply. Since you've already traveled, you're well aware of the limitations. Ham and cheese seems to be only thing stocked every night. Sometimes Tuna, sometimes chicken. But my go was the fish and chips. That was A1 but they run out very fast. Hope you enjoyed your stay

There weren't many excursions available when we went. However we did a horse and buggy ride through downtown Varadero. We booked another excursion that took us speed boating, Jeeps to drive through towns, horse back riding and coffee tasting

We stayed Sept 2022. The resort had a good amount of travelers. On the weekend it became full as locals visit the resort as well. It never felt over crowded at all

What is the difference between ocean view and ocean front view? The Sunwing shows only 2 view options for this resort.
Great questions, which i addressed it in the video. Theres Ocean view which is the beach front view that you saw in the video however since the resort is on a peninsula, theres like a sea view. Dark blue water, no waves, almost like a bay. Thats the difference
WI FI Internet, Good in hotel?
It was pretty good. I dont recall having any issues w it. You may want to download a VPN as you wont have access to everything online

Yes there is. Its slightly hidden though

Agreed. Food off the resort was amazing though. Lobster, steak and shrimp. It's the resorts that struggle to meet standards and expectations
This hotel is very bad! An absolute nightmare!
To start of, please understand that we were of course aware that the standards in Cuba are not same as in Europe and we adjusted our expectations, but I would rate this hotel overall 1 star (then I’m being very generous).
Below my entire story I need to share to protect anyone from making the mistake to book a stay in this “hell on earth”.
On day 3 of our holidays, half the hotel had a food poisoning!
The affected people went to the hotel manager and hotel doctor where they told every individual that they were the only person feeling sick and that it is probably because of different bacteria, warmth etc. Well, trust me when I am saying this was no light stomach inconvenience!!! (Sparing you the details).
When tourists were continuing to complain and being more persistent, they were threatened to be thrown out of the hotel (and country) by immigration.
Many guests requested to be moved to another hotel. Lines of people with complaints.
We were told by one other guest that he was taken separate by hotel director accompanied by 2 security guards and asked to fill a positive review on the internet after they agreed to change him to another hotel. When he refused to do that, they again threatened him to call immigration to have him removed from the country.
Review details:
FOOD:
- Everyday the same menu
- In the la carte option you get the left overs from previous day buffet
- disgusting taste. You kind of instinctively know that probably you should not eat this, but you do as you have no other options.
- Smell is very specific and after first day you can’t stand the smell of the dining anymore
- One tourist noticed a worm coming out of a bread
- Half hotel had food poisoning
ROOMS:
- very damaged. Floors and curtains are all damaged. Scaffolding falling off the walls.
- Airconditioning doesn’t function. It either goes full speed or not at all. Which means “you melt or blow out of your bed”. The airco blows lukewarm moist air with mushroom smell.
- Pillows and Bed stink and are covered with mold and stains.
- Towels stink so badly that we air dried ourselves on the balcony
- Towels not being changed. When we asked the reception, we got stinky beach towels with holes for our room.
- Bathroom is dirty and damaged. Tabs and sanitary are all covered with limestone and stains.
- No toilet paper in bathrooms (also not in bathrooms in public area). Everyday we needed to go to reception to ask for toilet paper.
- 1 day no running water in room due to broken pump
- No bottled water provided in rooms. Again needed to be daily asked at reception.
BUILDING:
- Cockroaches running through the hall and dining.
- Very old and not maintained at all.
- Not airconditioned
- Elevators are very old, damaged and scary. The elevators look horrible and function very badly. The buttons are not working properly. Temperature in elevator is far >30 degrees. People were making a prayer when in lift and were relieved when arrived on floor.
- 1 day no electricity (walking the stair in >30 degrees)
- Toilet doors are broken and won’t close or lock.
- WiFi often not working
LOCATION:
- The beach feels like a place apart from the hotel. The beauty of the beach in contrast to the disrepair of the interior of the hotel is a difference of day and night!
- Swimming pools at hotel looks nice
- Side note. The beauty of the nature makes it look great, this is no achievement of the hotel.

First off for you to diss the food here is completely wrong . The problem is they can't get certain things like seasons and basic cooking supplies need to make great food because of the embargo. As a chef myself I can say the food here is better than he let's on . There's something for everyone on the buffet unless you're picky like him.They do their best with what they have. It's Vloggers like you that can destroy hard working people on resorts like this.
Oh, I'm sorry for being honest w "my" experience with the food and drinks I had. I've been to Mexico, DR and Jamaica and they've met my minimum standards and expectations. I understand the embargo, however when we ate off the resort, the food was amazing . I had steak, lobster, shrimp and pasta off the resort and it was delicious. If the resort is going to serve the same food for lunch and dinner 7 days out the week. They should aim to make that experience better.

- Les taxi préfères la monnaie US
- pas de chaise pour tout l monde a la plage et la piscine
- pas de bouteille d eau en plastique seulement en vitre et sais lourd et quand ca brise c est dangereux.
- Les annonces de l hôtel ou de Sunwing et publicité ne correspond a aujourd'hui.. aucune fontaine ne fonctionne dans les jardins ou autres
- Pas de jus d'ananas et d orange fraichement presser ( seulement en poudre )
- plat topiquement Cubain ( Ropa vieja ) viande de bœuf fin avec poivron oignon etc.. et sauce tomate qu'il enlèvent a cause des Russ n'aime pas trop.
- une journées sans œuf au petit déjeuner couleur et gout pas habituel.
- Ascenseurs non fonctionnel juste 2 pour 827 chambres environ.
- aucun service de téléphone au chambre. les téléphones sont partout mais mort, pas de ligne. donc si ta besoin de quoi prend les escaliers pis va en bas!
- Aucun service de coffre-fort a moins d attendre 2 jour l'ouvrier dans ta chambre parce qu'il est dans un autre hôtel.
- un petit rouleau de papier toilette seulement si t en as plus par jour.
- et pas de papier dans les toilette public de l'hôtel et ne fonctionne pas tous.
- Resto a la carte de l'hôtel Homard oui oui homard avec des pinces trop cuite genre la viande coller sur la carapace.
( cubain resto ) et resto italien...tiramisu pareille comme les pad vert de cuisine pour frotter, dure a couper. Et resto Japonais 2 petits crevettes ouf! que dire de plus.
- Pas de triple sec ou de grand Marnier
- serviette de plage propre seulement a 9h Am sinon du garde la même!
- service additionnel pour la vue panoramique, resto et bar merveilleux environ 200$ de plus US et 3heure de plus au check out! sauf que nous avons pas eu la chambre avant 16h
et a 14h la dernière journées pas d eau pour la douche.
- Application androïde de Sunwing pratique pour vérifie les vol et retard sauf que l hôtel te coupe l internet a 15h pas capable de vérifier les voles.
- Le service médicale seulement si tu paye ou ta de bonne assurance a vérifie le numéro de téléphone si sont capable de les rejoindre.

- pas de bière au Beatles
- Banques fermer les weekends
- pas de crème de rhum seulement au durty free a l aéroport
- manque beaucoup de Cigare
- resto (Varadero 60) 60$ canadien pour une langoustine
- sunwing maintenent charge 25$ de plus pour valise de cabine aller retour donc 50$
