Good for Hasbro giving some attention to characters like Sandstorm. I had no idea what the cage was referencing. Nice toy head instead of toon head. Thanks for the review

I think it was just a way to include the engine housing from the G1 toy and to bulk up the figure to "justify" the increased price point (like they did with Astrotrain and Blitzwing). At least with this, it fits in more with the play pattern and integrates with the alt modes better.
This is the one bot I was waiting for sandstorms. His episode was awesome. Specially the planet he lived on. Thanks for another great review.

This looks like the refresh of the G1 figure I've been hoping for. Between this and Gears the G1 fans are eating good in this wave of Legacy.

Great review Deluxe Baldwin!!! I was hoping that Legacy Beachcomber was a one time figure with rubber tires, since those do NOT need to come back to Transformers action figures. (sigh) I hope future releases of Sandstorm fix the chest. Keep on being amazing.

he's pretty cool. might get him. I remember seeing a digibash that was a blackout inspired repaint. lowkey makes pe want to see some legacy style mivie verse entries kinda like the upcoming lockdown.

One thing I like about Sandstorm compared to Springer, the rotor blades are incorporated into the figure. I constantly keep losing the swords that make the blades for the helicopter mode for Springer.

At least I still have my Thrilling 30 Springer, who only requires one sword to become his propeller in helicopter mode.

Definitely have to say for what we seen of the legacy united I think the top five figures are going to be .
1 : Tidalwave
2 : Magmatron
3 : Sandstorm
4 : Animated Optimus Prime
5 : Cybertron Starscream
Each one of those are definitely looking best out 5he best but we still got three more waves before legacy is finished .

While I would have liked a more G1 animation head sculpt, watching your review, Hasbro really didn’t go all out G1 animation with the design. I’m sure a third party add on set will replace the head eventually

My euro copy is tabbing in well on the chest. And 1 nitpick the cap that you have underneath the buggy mode should come over the rotors. It tabs in securely. It sure helps the look and it just compacts that part underneath.

@@DeluxeBaldwin Yeah QC issues are rampant. My Ultra Magnus copy has weak shoulder pins. The arms won't stay up. Seen many US copies were fine it seems.

@@DeluxeBaldwin It sometimes depends on the batch. Same with paint differences. Everything is shipped in batches of different production runs. Like it seems the chest is no issue with mine at all for Sandstorm but heard multiple people from the US complain. And I remember other issues with joint tolerances for for example Skyfire. It had issues but mine was totally fine. Luckily Magnus is already incredibly wide and you don't need to splay him that much. So I'm okay with it.
I cannot wait to have this guy, he looks fantastic. Great review man, I hope you hit 20k before TFCon Baltimore!

@@DeluxeBaldwin Ever since Nick Roche (the guy who came up with Springer's design for Last Stand of the Wreckers) confessed that Sandstorm's Thrilling 30 figure ended up being a _pretool_ of that Thrilling 30 Springer, I'm getting this figure when it comes out, especially since I missed out on Thrilling 30 Sandstorm.
I hope this is retooled and repainted into a G1 rendition of Bayverse Blackout.

This is the best G1 triple-changer out currently and FAR better than the recent Blitzwing and Astrotrain (useless, expensive kibble and badly designed alt-modes) and Springer (cràpple-damage/non-authentic-toy paint). Although I love the previous "vtol" version of this character, I'll definitely get the G1 version, plus perhaps some repro labels (either a dedicated set or the original G1 set if Toyhax make a new version that's too expensive and mummified the toy in stickers).
I hope whoever was responsible for this toy ends up being so for the next version of Blitzwing, Astrotrain and the other G1 triple changers.

I might pick this guy up when it goes on sale/clearance. I'm a sucker for orange. Things not tabbing in and generally being floppy/loose when you pick the toy up is the biggest deal breaker for me. Siege Springer is another one that's relatively recent. Springer looks awesome... until you pick him up and pose him, lol. Thanks for the video, Deluxe.

One of my childhood favourites so maybe I'm over-critical but this feels no better than fine, to me. In general, 40th anni seems to be full of strange choices. I can't shake the feeling that the 'toon sculpt head is somewhere gated off on the tool to give people the version they really want down the line if they're willing to double-dip...

I can't stand the previous two versions of Springer due to the poor paint apps. I'm looking forward to an inevitable SS86 version in clean cartoon colours.
I was so happy that I would finally get a chance on a g1 style sand storm my favorite auto bot triple changer then he was a leader the chance just went down so cool . You got a good copy seen one review with wheels did not reach the ground on one side the front looked a bit warped

man i was really hyped for this guy when i seen the listing last year. quite disappointed he is toy accurate which makes no sense as all of hasbros recent stuff has all been toon accurate
