Love your honest reactions! Regarding the hate for too much “noise,” I suspect it was because they use non-instrumental sounds like sirens, car horns, and drills. You know, things that I would NEVER think of using were I going to write a song, lol. Also, regarding pre-debut versus debut: in the K-pop system, groups are formed by their company, and when deemed ready, they’re given an official debut date. Stray Kids was different because their company, JYPE, allowed Bang Chan to pick the members himself. He selected 8 young men (plus himself made 9… hence District 9) and before debuting, his group participated in a TV survival show called Stray Kids (the name he chose for the group). During the show, they were given a challenge to write their own song, and an opportunity to film a MV for it. Hence, Hellevator. After surviving that awful survival show, the group debuted on 25 March 2018 with nine members. District 9 was released after this date… Hope this helps! I look forward to more reactions from you.
It's even more confusing when you realize there are 9 of them in this video. I was like, "whaaat!?" Before I learned about Woojin. And yes. You should definitely check out Grr. It's one of their rock-ish tracks. Lol
yes after i watched it i was confused because it looked like too many people but i couldn't recognise some of their faces so as i was trying to learn them i realised i was trying to figure out the name of someone not in the group anymore. i know it now but not during the video of course
@compactrhythm yeah, he wasn't around for very long, but it always throws me off when I see him because I'm not used to his face and voice being there. You'll have the same problem if you ever watch Kingdom because Hyunjin was on hiatus during the competition. Han had to cover all of his parts. Which really speaks to his talent, to be honest. I've seen people not even notice Hyunjin is missing until someone points it out. Lol
Pre-debut is while they are still trainees, and not an official group. When a group debuts, they are introduced to the Kpop world. Stray Kids were hugely different from the "normal" kpop sound. They were pioneering their own style and got hate for their unconventional music. I loved them from the start bcs they were different. I refused to listen to kpop before Skz came on the scene. Love that you are reacting to early SKZ stuff, where you will find a lot of gritty songs dealing with mental health, soul-searching, and coming of age. Definitely do Grr, voices, mirror, victory song, side effects, double knot. The performance/dance videos are as good or better than the mv's, so they are also great for reactions. I highly recommend watching the actual survival show used to debut them. The episodes are on RUclips with subtitles, and you can binge-watch them all in a day. Knowing the absolute hell they went through to become SKZ is pretty critical to understanding why they are such an amazingly close and strong group today❤
Yeah it's very different but still has the stray kids sound! I also started watching the survival show recently so I guess it will be good to watch more to understand them
FNF means Flora 'n' Fauna, in memorial of the devastating Australian bush fires a few years back. 2 members are Australian. Speaking if which, we would live to watch you react to a Stray Kids Guide, even if its a couple hours long or split up over multiple videos!
4:48 its completely understandable not to recognize changbin's debut/predebut looks. its such a common that changbin had a great transformation from predebut to his current appearance, especially his chin and his muscle
The kpop debut is like their official introduction as a group like the starting of their journey as a group so this can be considered as a their first song or so and predebut is before they were officially 'straykids' as a group so they did that amazing song even before they were an official group and district 9 is their debut song like their first song as an official group!
