No Indicator Trading Strategy Still Working After 50 Years!

- In this video I demonstrate a quick and easy "3 day trade" trading strategy which I picked up from trader Perry Kaufman. I complete a 15 year back test on 14 different Forex pairs individually and collectively as a portfolio.
I test the original exit and then 4 other exits to see which works best and on which market. One of the exits consistently produces win rates over 80%.
All the testing is done using MultiCharts.
Data is from Oanda.

In my opinion, a housing market crash is imminent due to the high number of individuals who purchased homes above the asking price despite the low interest rates. Hi, I don't understand... in almost several examples on the video I see on charts 4 down or up closes ! Entries long or short on 4th consecutive up or down closes. We have to wait 3 down or up closes and only at the end of 4th day I put trades?
Does this strategy work on different time frames?

Did you test P Kaufmans strategy on equity where he said he'd been using this successfully for 50 years? Id be interested to hear if it actually worked or not over that period, or actually some period in the past. After a number of years spent a bit like you building trading systems Im suspicious of many supposed great traders methods) On the specifics of your study, on multi charts are you able to add a cost of entry and exit to each trade and generate your equity curve and result table with that included? That would mean you see a more accurate results without having to do a mental calculation as to whether it would be profitable or not with costs.
What about with accounts that have leverage? Surely they will perform better?

I did a backtest on SPY for 2023 and it was a 63% win rate. The ROI was 7.6%.

@@scotthirsch3479 Yes, very lame especially when the risk free rate is 5.5%. Well, the returns can be amplified if options are used, since the overall strategy is a success.
@@scotthirsch3479 The SPY signal got triggered today. We had 3 up days. Based on the strategy, it’s to go short on the SPY today and close tomorrow. What I did was to buy a 380 put option on the SPY and short the 376 put option which is at money for net debit of $3.11. My max gain is $4 and my max loss is $3.11. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

That's arguable. Discretionary strategies are akin to failure because of discretion whereas Indicators can provide a methodical approach.
I do something similar to this with credit spreads. 3 days and I’ll play the opposite

You have to look at your expectancy. 80% is great, but now with a RR of 0.25. Your expectancy is zero which means there's no edge with this one.
If this strategy works for this guy, I doubt you can credit anything but his humongous cranium

It would have been much better if at the beginning he mentioned that this is for the daily time frame only. There is no mention of lower time frames. Correct me if I'm wrong. I only trade with the lower time frames.

Thoroughly confused. You don’t seem to follow the rules. You showed examples of a trade went against you for seven or eight days before you exited which violated the rules you said in the beginning
I think this is one of the best strategy I have heard. Do follow this, you wouldn't regret but the key is you have to pick the right stock if you hoping price of stock to go up either same day or in a day or two in order for you to turn green!

Thanks Jarrod this is well explained and it is very encouraging to see simple strategies remain robust for so many years. With regard to selecting pairs for a portfolio (assuming the same strategy for all pairs) you've demonstrated that some perform better than others. How would you approach selecting or de-selecting pair/strategy combinations for a portfolio? Thanks for your great content and the effort you invest to produce it.

Watching professional trading videos and most especially connecting with the right person the digital world is full of in unreal people I met some of them during my success journey. Hold back for a breakoff structure on a small time frame as soon as the prices makes a slight downward pullback. But then don’t enter a trade immediately the prices are down because prices can easily still go up which would have you loosing money
The biggest challenge holding traders back from utilizing price action concepts is that
price action concepts can be very difficult to identify.
Prices are not constant because the market stays teetering,it’ll be very difficult to know when prices collapses

Market usually retrace after 2 to 3 trending but how far can it retrace before continuing the trend again? What if the trending is more than 3 days, could we consider using this 3 day strategy too?
I watched the bailout exit videos you have presented. Just one thing I'm not quite sure is the exit way when it's not profit. Do you close the un-profit position until the next entry signal pop up?

I have to just use one indicator, I love price action but I also love divergence so the rsi I use. I can’t stand most indicators because 50/50 win rates are no good, momentum is key. , ill sometimes use fib but that’s it, I don’t care about volume profile and everything else

Agreed, which is exactly the reason I stopped taking advise from RUclipsrs; in the long run, I only end up with a jumbled collection of stocks and bonds. Whereas all I needed to earn over $350k in less than three years was guidance from a true market strategist.
