    i like how texas, widely considered one of, if not the, worst ovals on the nascar schedule, managed to be daves favorite haha

    • @finalstraw911
      @finalstraw911 Год назад +5

      I used to love Texas...then they reconfigured it and ruined it. Turn one is so dumb. "Let's make it a mile and a half wide, and take away banking. That'll work!" It's also impossible to set up for because the turns are so different. If you're perfectly comfortable in T1-2, you're loose as hell in 3 & 4. If you set up for 3 & 4, you push like crazy in 1 & 2.
      It can be fun to drive, but racing there is a joke

      Fr it's so ass. Then again it's somewhat fun in the trucks because of how little you lift in those. Short tracks are my forte. I want to see Dave run Bristol so bad.

    I find oval racing more mentally challenging than road racing, simply because you rarely get a chance to relax.

    • @finalstraw911
      @finalstraw911 Год назад +3

      You're *racing* a lot more in ovals, whereas road is more often than not 5 minutes of racing, 40 minutes of just hitting your marks

    Lower line tends to burn off the right front while higher lines will burn off the right rear more. Its a balancing act through long runs. Helps to lift a little earlier if you have understeer on worn tires. Love the unexpected Oval appearance!!

  • @danmiglin840
    @danmiglin840 Год назад

    I don't understand the Texas hate either. It's a lot of fun! Or at least it is on iRacing where tires don't blow up for, like, no reason. One thing I noticed is that you're using the clutch to go up the gears on your restarts. You don't need to do that, even in the real thing. Just blip the throttle and pop it into the next gear and you'll be a little faster. It seemed like on every single restart the guy behind you was able to poke his nose to your inside before the first corner. The only time you need the clutch, assuming you aren't using any assists, is when you're coming to a complete stop in the pits.

    Good result. I did a race on this track in the league I am in with the 1987 cars. It is tough in those as you really have to brake going in to turn 1 and then back off the throttle more into 3 as they don't turn as good.
    You got the biggest winner wrong though. Roberto Huerta gained +70 and finished 1 spot in front of the guy you said gained +58.

    Slightly overdriving turn 1 entry- based on how I drive Texas anyway, but you did great not being a daily nascar driver. I usually run the bottom at the beginning and as the race goes on I take turn 1 a little higher up to put more stress on the right rear and give the right front a break.

    How do you choose not to qualify, do you just click ready to race (or whatever it says) when the qualifying starts?
    I've found myself qualifying around 5th most road races (rookie / D license) and every single time i get smashed out of the way in the first lap by some absolute idiot. I am a rookie myself, and certainly not perfect, but i do take the time to practise each course before joining a race, but no matter how clean i race, somebody always just punts me out of the way and i end up back of the pack chasing them anyways.....Either with damage or needing to pit.
    I figure i'd probably have an easier race just starting from the back and let the idiots wipe each other out first.

      When people say texas sucks they're talking about real life, the organizers change the track in 2017 trying to improve the Nascar races and every year kept putting traction product on the asfalt, they did too much and now the asphalt is destroyed, there's 4 lines in turn 1 and only the inside line has grip, the races have been terrible because drivers can't properly race, especially in indycar
