Payson's one of the most underrated destinations in the high country. It doesn't have the shopping, resorts, or golf courses that people look for in Sedona or Flagstaff, and to me that's a good thing. There's still some grit left in Payson, and that makes it perfect for wilderness excursions. Great video!
My adult son and I just spent a week in the area checking out several caves in the area. We also did Horton and Wagon wheel. We did Rainbow last month. I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life and have been to all places described multiple times. Just so people know, I’m 60 with a pacemaker and have had no problems doing any of the hikes he mentioned. Every one is beautiful, especially Rainbow Bridge. There is excellent dispersed camping throughout the area. On a separate note, not far from Payson is Fossil Creek, one of the most beautiful places in Arizona. It’s an easy short drive and well worth the extra few miles. If the weather turns, do what we did and spend the day hitting the multitude of thrift and secondhand stores in town, that’s a whole different kind of adventure!
Hey thank you for sharing! and yes! Fossil creek is an absolute stunning place to visit......I have only been there once but I do plan on going back in the future, Payson never gets old, even if you have already visited these places before, its a great getaway from the city
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 If you liked Fossil Creek go one canyon north to West Clear Creek. At the upper end near Happy Jack it’s a deep rugged canyon, and the lower end it drops into the Verde near Camp Verde. It’s the most beautiful place in Arizona. Google it, it would be a great spot for your drone!
Why thank you! I appreciate that. Arizona seems like it has an infinite amount of stunning scenery! Never leave home without the drone! Thanks for checking out the video and happy exploring!
That doesn't surprise me, but at the same time it does. I know a lot of people that live in Phoenix that have yet to go there or have maybe only been there once or twice. I still go up there maybe once or twice a month....I just love the views
I think they actually close off that road to the rim in december...i think, I know its not open all year round, but Ill be heading up that way in a couple weeks
In my opinion....it's not a bad idea, a lot of people from Phoenix go there in July because it's not as hot. It can be in the low to high 90s in July. Plus there's a few lakes and streams up there people go to to cool off. If you go in July......you'll be fine
Awesome! They really take your video to the next level! Nothing beats that buttery smooth footage....truth be told I've never used a gimbal. I just try to really hold the camera strategically to reduce shake and jerky movements... however I did bust out my old gimbal I got like 4 years ago...and I used it to shoot B roll for a video I'll be uploading about lake mead in the next few days....I'll keep an eye on your channel, eager to see what you got and how the footage looks 👍
@@wje2 well hey I appreciate those kind words 🙏 still kind of learning myself too as I go along, but your never too old or too late to learn 👍. that's kind of where I started, couple years ago I was really inspired by other youtubers doing what im doing and thought to myself...." that looks like a lot of fun!, I bet i could do that" and here we are!
Honestly if you wanna see some amazing fall colors, I'd go to Oak Creek Canyon or Aspen corner in Flagstaff.....it's unbelievable!!! But I've never found a place that had an Abundance of fall colors in Payson. Horton Creek and the start of the trail at Waterwheel falls would probably be your best bet
I did!!......It took me FOREVER! I one out by throwing a large rock at it......got the other one out by lassoing a tow strap around one of the branches and pulling on it till it came loose.......its was a long day, but once I got the first one down there was no way I was only going to leave without the other one.
at the "main water fall" at water wheel there's common foods. 3 years ago a family of 10 died there, it's a beautiful place but dont go to hole the "main" waterfall that he shows.
FYI don't bring your pets to Water Wheel, born and raised here and the stream is beautiful but there has been many times throughout the 3 decades I've been alive that I've been alerted about mold that can be deadly for dogs that often times shows up in those river streams. Don't not go there please cause it's beautiful and still worth the trip, but for the love of our more furry family members, please don't bring them ❤
The main issue for dogs is the first creek crossing. If the low is low there are lots of rocks to hop. If it's high you can go up the rocks away from the falls and safely cross the smaller creek there. Otherwise it's pretty safe for dogs and they seem to love the pools of water & rocks.
There is dispersed camping allowed throughout the area surrounding Payson. We were up checking out caves in the area. Up off Houston Mesa, just past Wagon Wheel is a good area with good roads. We spent one night up near the lookout tower. Lil tip, Scout cave is in that area, worth the short hike. Also a good area for hunting crystals!

Beautiful places! ❤️
Yea! There really isn't a bad view in Payson!
Yes I do, our lakes on the rim trump our local park with water
Will be running the Zane Grey 50 mile race next Saturday on the Highline Trail.
Excited!!

How's the Mogollon Rim during the 1st weekend of December? I'll be on an adventure motorcycle. (Wearing my heated gear) 😉

Great Video…… is visiting during July a good idea or is the weather just too hot?

How do i find the unidentified waterfall he mentioned in point 4? I want to go lol its beautiful
Great video as usual. BTW you have inspired me to purchase a gimbal. I can't wait to try it out.

can you suggest any spots up there to view fall colors, only trail in mind is See Canyon but there has to be better. going this weekend

Are dogs allowed? We would be traveling with a leash trained dog. Thanks
Yes, but at Tonto natural bridge state park, I do believe they are limited to the parking lot level
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 thanks
I heard Jason Voorhees has a winter cabin in the Payson area. The Jersey winters are too much.
well Now I gotta go look for it! Ch ch cha ha ha ha
My name is payson and when I look up my name this is all that comes up
✌️
Did you ever get your shoes out of the tree?

Hope you take care of those crocs
Oh I will! Always keep them in my car.....bring them every where I go! Thanks again 👍

If you live in payson, get ready to hear the ambulance 24/7.
Why?
Dude's kookoo.
I live in Payson and maybe hear sirens once a week. I guess it could be more if you live near the hospital.

You need to post all the free campsites cuz everybody's broke the economy's in the toilet no one has a dime to spare
