I don't have the beacon and I mostly glamp but I've been lost before, I can't imagine me putting myself in the pressing the beacon button scenario, stubbornness for sure.
@@soflodude4949 The chances of getting attacked by anything in the woods is extremely low, you're much more likely to be attacked walking home from a coffee shop then in the woods, and wild animals attacks are even more rare, and having a gun won't help as animals are a lot quicker than your draw. I'm afraid of crazy madmen but that's why I dont camp near anyone and keep my guard up at trailheads
@@AliceFordAdventures Your chances of your house catching on fire are low, but I bet money you have a fire extinguisher. Being on alert is useless unless you can actually back up that awareness with deterrence. You can be caught off guard by anyone or anything, but not every animal/human attack happens in seconds, and with practice you can draw and fire in under a second. You've chosen to compartmentalize this reality, which is common for most people who hike and backpack. I also didn't see any hemostatic gauze or a tourniquet for your first aid kit. All this might sound like overkill, but it's not once you really think about it.

I also don’t need a gun at home and I’m much more likely to have a home invasion happen than I am to be attacked while camping or hiking. I’m not so afraid of the world that I need to have a weapon on me at all times

A great idea as well. I always have a back flow device but tablets are a great lightweight option
My buddy and I did a 10 mile/16km backpack challenge last summer. Next year I hope to do 20 miles/32km and I totally agree with your list!

I carry a folding Silky saw too. I'm a mountain biker, so sometimes I clear the trail, or it helps for making fire too

Well equipped. They are for minimalist hiker. For me, I will add an umbrella for raining usage.
