Hello, I'm from Brazil and many years ago I had the inestimable grace of getting to know the works of Mgr Marmion. It's a doctrinal and spiritual wealth that unfortunately few people know about. Especially this theme of ‘crossing the veil of the Most Sacred Humanity of the Word’ reveals the intensity and intimacy of his spiritual life with God in Christ. I very much hope that one day he will be glorified on our altars and illuminate the life and mission of many priests and lay people. God bless you for your apostolate. Br Davi, ORC.
It led me into a much deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. I have since acquired and read all of Marmion’s writings that are in English. He is an absolute, spiritual master! Thank you, Robert. Blessed Abbot Columba Marmion, pray for us! Full disclosure: I am a Benedictine Oblate of Assumption Abbey, Richardton, North Dakota, USA. Pax!!
Great video! He was truly a spiritual master. I think he wore black throughout his childhood. His father earmarked him for Clonliffe! I was part of the first official lrish pilgrimage to his tomb in Maredsous, taking in Banneux and Beauraing, the Marian shrines of Belgium in 2003. The Mercy sisters of Waterford organised it. The connection was that his sister was a Mercy sister in Dunmore East and he visited there once. She may have been Columba too. My own aunt was a missionary Mercy sister in NZ. Ultimately they had to hand back the schools to the Gov. but as Blessed Edmund Rice said : The good seed will grow. As a tribute to the nuns, a bronze modern statue was erected to Our Lady of Mercy. We were met in Maredsous by the Benedictine, Mark Tierney from Glenstal who wrote a short biography which is available there. He also wrote the history book for lrish primary schools which l had as a child. He has since passed away.
I discovered Dom Marmion's books in the library as a Carmelite novices. Carmelites ordinarily have enough Carmelite saints to feed their souls, but I was curious about this Benedictine who wrote such large, serious tomes. I think I read all his major works in my early years. He is a powerful teacher. Blessed Marmion, pray for us!
Thank you, Robert! "The English Letters of Blessed Columba Marmion" is now available in a reprint edition (HC and Pbk) published by Angelico Press, 2023. Still, finding an older edition of this treasure in a bookstore, as you did, is certainly a special joy, and thank you for sharing from it. Blessed Marmion's books are a never-failing fount of instruction and inspiration, and I don't know how, but I was lucky enough to come upon them myself a few years ago, and I love to share him too.
In 1998 my brother, of happy memory, brother Aaron, O.S.B. Gave me a copy of “Christ, the Life of the Soul” by Abbot Columba Marmion. Aside from the Bible, this is the number one book that I would recommend for any one to read. It led me into a much drelationship with Jesus Christ
It’s powerful the praise of God. It has propelled Pentecostalism to great enthusiasm. In praise of glory is the motto I think of St. Elizabeth of the Trinity. Her prayer to the Trinity is ecstatic and much admired. Don Marmions Christ is beautiful. It is very attractive.
🥸 It sounded like Robert said: '...beheading...' ? I believe, that I've heard this name (Dom Marmion), but might I ask... WHY is he so significant/important ? I live in the mostly Protestant, USA. ✝️ ❎ 💖

I live in a small village in Suffolk. Found out recently that a lady that lives in our village is the grand-niece of Blessed Columba Marmion!
Thank you, Jesus, for Blessed Marmion
God bless you Robert 😊
Thank you so very much and God bless you. I am grateful to Our Lord for bringing me to your channel and your company in this spiritual journey. 🙏🏻

Awesome
Just a thought... could he have been due to give a retreat at Stanbrook Abbey. Might be able to find out if he had correspondence with those nuns.
I would love to know who was the letter addressed to.
Could have been Dame Laurentia McClachlan.... famous Abbess
Just a thought

I had one of his books, I couldn't get into it but, it wasn't for me at that time. Wasn't the book.
