What an interesting little plant. Not seen this plant before. Very interesting that it responds to touch. How cool is that 😊

Hi Joanna 😁 What an adorable species of plant! It looks similar to a pesky tree we have here in CA that has pink bottle brush looking flowers. The tree is beautiful, but makes a big mess. I am going to look for this cute little plant at my local nursery when I visit today. Thanks for sharing ☺️

Oh boy - I hope it’s not the pesky one. But it sure is a cutie when small. ☺️

Sensitive Plant/Touch-me-not are the most common names around here.
I've had a few of these over the years. Definitely a fun plant. Very easy to start from seed.

These are fun plants. 😊 I know of it by the name “sensitive plant.” Funny, last year I thought I found a small plant growing in my flowerbed and wondered how it got there. I was poking and prodding...nothing. I thought maybe they weren’t as sensitive as I thought they’d be. I left it growing there and once in a while I’d still try to get it to close up now and then. Then I realized on a walk, my neighbor has a honey locust tree. Similar looking leaves on a bigger scale. So I guess this had been a seedling if that tree. Boy did I feel silly. 😂 🌱

@@containerjoy5815 😂🤣 Clearly I needed you there to give me a species profile on it! 🤣 I found it interesting in your video that they can get used to being touched and they won’t react as much over time.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but I can’t see anything about a quarter of the way through, however I’m loving the information ℹ️, I remember my mom having one of these, us kids touched it so much for the cool reactions the poor thing perished…..but as a planty nerd with over76 different house plants not counting the ones in my two tanks in my one bed apartment I can say I’m in the hunt for one to nurture 🇨🇦❣️

There's an aquatic plant like this that blooms yellow with a flower like a sweet pea. Giant sensitive plant.
I have a small yellow flowering variety that grows in my prairie. I think it's a native plant, because I haven't removed it. However- I'm going to double check if it's invasive. You probably have the same plant around the woods and meadows of Illinois. I used to see it hiking around IN when I lived there. Thanks for the info. I see a pink sensitive plant in my future!
    - I may put the Aquatic version in the pond if it's not invasive. Too, much fertilizer and silt run off from neighbors cornfield = algae nightmares!
