Mike you can find Gyptian scarab molds on Etsy or just google it. I found a bunch of them...

I work in glass and metal can these molds be used for that? I was thinking of using clay and then making a plaster mold with the clay after baking. What do you think ?

Patricia, these molds will not take the heat necessary for glass or metal molding. Plaster might handle some metals like lead or tin (I have not tried), but not high heat. Depending on whether you need a negative or positive mold, you could press clay into the mold for a ceramic positive or you could do a plaster positive and then press the plaster positive into some clay for a ceramic negative. The ceramic negative molds seem to be somewhat problematic when casting glass frit, maybe you will have better luck. Here is my video on small molds for the Microwave kiln ruclips.net/video/bU4Hpkf6ZlI/видео.html

Hi Capt Mike! I'm wondering if I can pour plaster into a silicone mold to then make a mold out of plaster to pour casting slip onto? I see you answered a similar question below. The silicone mold is a picture frame and when i try to press clay into it, it doesn't release right, thats why i thought pouring plaster, and then making a plaster mold from that might work with casting slip? What do you think? Love your videos!

Plaster works great with silicon. As long as you ca end up with a negative plaster mold of what you want it will work fine. Make sure your plaster mold has no undercuts. Undercuts make the slip cast difficult if not impossible to remove. Hope this helps.
