I had to quit social media for a week because of how bad I felt when I saw other people being active and productive during the pandemic when I felt like I was wasting my life in front of a screen. That break from social media really helped me focus on my studies and stop feeling bad about myself. I might do that again soon
I felt like crying at that fighting scene. I’m sorry you don’t feel safe anymore, it’s horrible to live that way. Please take care and thank you for taking the time to share your life with us 💜
@@apple.cheeks Completely rational response, I'm glad to hear you have a support system where you can go out with friends to places. I hope it makes those trips feel safer, no one should feel like that when going out. *hugs* Also as a sidenote, for the social media cleanse, if you want to do any of it longer term, there is this thought it takes a minimum of two weeks for habits to form, its hard to start but it gets easier!
Yes the incident in Georgia is horrible and we want you safe 💝...I highly suggest investing in mace and learning defensive maneuvers so you can fight back if need be... I carry mace and a knife on me at all times...as a female bartender people get really 😤 seeing me making money and I have been mugged before... it's a horrible experience and I don't wish anything but happy things for you 💝
Make sure to take some time to process how you felt while in the store. It’s scary and you don’t want it to settle into your subconscious. Remind yourself that you are safe
I've been cutting social media since 2016. I quit my all-consuming imgur habit, deleted all my facebook "friends" and locked down my profile, quit twitter altogether in 2020. I keep a carefully curated youtube and instagram account for only things relevant to my business or hobbies. Social media can be a wall of human misery and my brain functions better without it. It might take longer than a week to break the habit but I do believe there is a healthy balance between no social media at all and spending 16 hours a day endlessly doom-scrolling. I'm also trying to put more positivity out into the world! I'm sorry you had such a scary moment in the grocery store. I think that would have been frightening even without the possibility that someone there had a gun. Take care!
Dang! That's amazing, I'm hoping I can cut some more out of my days as well but it sometimes seems impossible because of social media fomo. I think for me I need to try to just upload and leave it, the constant checking of numbers is what gets me all the time :/
That was scary. I'm so exhausted from existence. As if covid isn't scary enough the world continues to be unhinged. I don't blame you for leaving I would have too. Stay safe out there. :(
From experience, getting off social media is tough but very rewarding! At some point, you don't end up missing it. That is the goal! Keep up the good work! Love your vlogs
Good on you for setting a healthy example, Tiff! Personal boundaries are so good and important and I hope this can be a new trend in the art/mental health community. Your oxygen mask first!
I think breaks from social media should be done one a month. The time you spend on social media can be taken up with looking at to do lists or making a wish list for the next time...I totally understand the fear factor of being out and a fight breaking out in your vicinity. The racial violence towards the Asian population is here in Canada as well. I look forward to watching every week your content and your insight is wonderful.

It's okay to not know what to do right away, but if you don't feel safe in a situation always get out. I know it's been terrible with all that has been happening recently. :( People shouldn't have to be afraid for their lives just doing everyday things. Sending you so much love!
Your spring rolls looked so fresh and good. I deleted my Tik Tok app as I was spending too long on it at night. Better now. We should never compare ourselves to others online. I had to be off of social media for most of 2020.. I found it incredibly overwhelming everytime I went on instagram especially. But it's really hurt my small business by letting my social media presence go for so long. This week I got myself together and planned out the next full month of content and I feel so proud of myself that Ive done that because it was so difficult for me for so long. However I totally think getting off social media when you need to is the right thing to do. I used to feel a lot more 'addicted' to social media a few years ago, but I forced myself to go on several months long social media breaks which helped me kick that, now I have to make an effort to check my socials. 😂
I'm glad you're starting again! I totally feel you on how overwhelming Instagram can feel sometimes, I always feel like I'm behind and chasing something. Hope you're doing well now!
Luckily I’m someone who always was quite good at keeping “internet time” to a minimum but I still notice myself comparing me to others which is honestly so annoying almost but this pandemic I really learned to just spent time in nature and with family, but in today’s world it’s hard not to fall into that deep hole of whatever
Omg Tiffany! I’m so glad you are ok! That must have been super scary in the grocery store! I too have had too take breaks from social media from time to time. Had to get off FB altogether because I just couldn’t stand all the negativity and I really only go on my art account on Instagram. Loved this vlog and glad you are safe! ☺️
@@apple.cheeks The world is so crazy right now. Back in December my husband stopped for a coffee at like 6am at a McD's and some guy came out of no where, stabbed him in the stomach and then just took off running!! When he called me and told me what happened I was terrified! Why would anyone do that???
I feel bad about everything that’s happening but it also feels weirdly comforting that more people are able to understand how I’ve felt my whole life as a black girl in America. Don’t get me wrong no one deserves things like this to happen, hate is disgusting and as a POC I want you to know we all stand with the Asian community and against hate crimes like this. Hopefully one day we’ll all have justice and peace of mind.
Thank you ! I'm also kind of glad that we can even feel a bit of what that fear feels like, sometimes it's hard to relate unless you've been through it!
Hello ! I love your videos ~ My mom and my grandma told me to always start a jigsaw by the frame, to make it easier : first, find the corners, second, look for the pieces with a straight side to build the frame. After that, we just organise the pieces by colour and put the ones that connect with the frame. Hope it will help you 😄 Have a nice day ~
i felt so happy when u were eating (around 12:00) u are so cute ihihi cute little face and just wanted to say that im really sorry for everything thats goin on, including your fear to be in public places, totally understandable
Hahah when u were waiting for it to export and looked so sleeeppy; when I did my digital detox I tried to replace going on social media to reading a book whether it was physical or also on my phone :O or sometimes I try to meditate. the addiction is realll
I’m glad you acted quick even though that was scary and got out of the store safely. Also what brush in procreate did you use when you were drawing on the iPad? I hope you feel better soon with the tooth ache❣️🍎
I’m so sorry for how you were feeling after being at the store when that fight broke out. :( I cannot even begin to fathom how you were feeling in that moment, given everything that’s going on. It’s disgusting that you have been made to fear for your safety like this. I’m so deeply ashamed of our country, you know? Like, why are you, my fellow citizen and human being, made to feel unsafe, lesser than? What, just because you’re a different race than someone else?! It’s infuriating, and shameful. I dunno. I’m sorry, I just hate that you and millions more have been put through this, let alone the families of those lost recently. I just want to send you love and hugs, and I hope you’re feeling at least a bit better. We will make it through, one day at a time. 💖
Love your videos, I have been binge watching them! Trigger warning maybe? - I want to just state something about trauma and my own theory that is probably already out there regarding p-word and c. . . . . My theory is that the p-word was actually very traumatizing and that just like other traumas that can stunt emotional growth and make someone stay at the same mentality of when the situation first happened, the p-word has done the same thing for all of us. This is why the past two years feel unreal or like no time has passed. We did go through something.
The non plastic envelope from USPS is called glassine. It's been used by USPS for decades, my mom would get her stamps in an envelope like that when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. So it has nothing to do with artists wanting USPS to be more environmentally friendly. A lot of the stamps I see packaged on cardboard/in plastic are more collectible and I imagine it's packaged that way for collectors so they're more protected and won't get bent. Signed, a stamp nerd. 🤓
I worked at a supermarket (I quit last month) and fights were the worst. I’d have to remain calm while arguing with customers a and keeping others calm. I was threatened and sworn at all the time. It takes a fucking toll. Going to work became debilitating, I couldn’t do anything before or after work
I haven’t removed the apps but I’ve moved them to the last page of my Home Screen, hidden in a folder and it’s been I think more than 2 weeks now? It definitely helps. I keep RUclips but I kind of “filter” the content I watch (I watch art videos, workout videos, creative content etc)
I usually wouldn't be so triggered, but it was literally because I was reading about asian hate crimes the night before and because of the Atlanta shootings that made me super paranoid!
actually I may try this. I actually have severe anxiety from being away from my email and social media for too long because I do most of my Art Business ventures on it and what if someone comes in and wants to commission me etc etc. I would probably start crying if i went away for a week or month. and get very moody. Most of my inspiration comes from socials.
Try to find positive influence sources, try to avoid reading and watching those negative information that can brings you down, I know this works, because I’ve been there...away from the social media that will influence your mood is absolutely a right way to do. I do not go to social media at all, just text messaging only. What I did to is give myself a goal, a plan, like I want to make $1000 per week, or lunch a new product each month, or make 2 videos each week, and watching videos from only very positive RUclipsr. I know this may sounds cliche but it really works: Find only positive energy adding it to your life and avoid the negative ones.
My screen time veries Depending on the weather. If its too hot, I can't sit in my room anymore and I have to sit outside with my mom, so I'm very limited to my phone. Until it gets less hot around 5 in the evening. If its a rainy day then I can sit in my room more and get more art done, and clean my room.

After 9/11 we made a point to shop the middle eastern markets and restaurants in our area and support our muslim [or perceived as ] friends. There were stores in my neighborhood that had windows smashed in and a lot of harassment. Started again after the "Marathon Bombing" . Somewhere in between my mother went to Mecca on pilgrimage, so that was a very stressful 2 weeks for everyone here. Now we are working the asian angle, trying to support by shopping more obviously Asian markets [really all the past year]. As an "American Mutt" in a rainbow family we wish everyone could get along. Seems like we go in a cycle from muslim, to black, to latinx to asian and back gain over and over. Take care. It is sad and scary to know that there are angry, dangerous people out there targeting the innocent. I had to go to the HOSPITAL for my wisdom teeth!

I'm glad you're starting again! I totally feel you on how overwhelming Instagram can feel sometimes, I always feel like I'm behind and chasing something. Hope you're doing well now!
such a lovely video💕
Luckily I’m someone who always was quite good at keeping “internet time” to a minimum but I still notice myself comparing me to others which is honestly so annoying almost but this pandemic I really learned to just spent time in nature and with family, but in today’s world it’s hard not to fall into that deep hole of whatever
I think cause I live alone, its harder for me to go out to explore nature or see family (since they live far). ;-;
It was! I've never experienced that before and it really made me wonder how everyone else is feeling right now ;-;
@@apple.cheeks The world is so crazy right now.
@@apple.cheeks I’m glad you understood what I was trying to say. I was so scared it would come out wrong.
Hello ! I love your videos ~ My mom and my grandma told me to always start a jigsaw by the frame, to make it easier : first, find the corners, second, look for the pieces with a straight side to build the frame. After that, we just organise the pieces by colour and put the ones that connect with the frame. Hope it will help you 😄 Have a nice day ~
I found that starting from the center was working well so I did the inverted method of yours xD
I'm so sorry about what happened to the store 💞💞
😭
i felt so happy when u were eating (around 12:00) u are so cute ihihi cute little face
and just wanted to say that im really sorry for everything thats goin on, including your fear to be in public places, totally understandable
I don't know how you survived a Chloe Ting Workout with a sweatshirt on. Damn you're a beast!
Lots of sweat LOL
Hahah when u were waiting for it to export and looked so sleeeppy; when I did my digital detox I tried to replace going on social media to reading a book whether it was physical or also on my phone :O or sometimes I try to meditate. the addiction is realll
oooh meditating would be interesting
Loving your vlogs thank you for the company! ::)
It just make my day ❤🌼
I’m glad you acted quick even though that was scary and got out of the store safely.
We did go through something.
this might be the first time i dont say my usual comment but I hope you feel better and stay healthy and happy 💞💞
I was brought here by the algorithm and I like it, so I subscribed to stay 😊
Love your videos! Am looking forward to this
The non plastic envelope from USPS is called glassine. 🤓
That is so interesting !! That's so understandable now :)
I worked at a supermarket (I quit last month) and fights were the worst. I’d have to remain calm while arguing with customers a and keeping others calm. I was threatened and sworn at all the time. It takes a fucking toll. Going to work became debilitating, I couldn’t do anything before or after work
I'm sorry you have to go through that! I'm glad you ended up quitting :/
I haven’t removed the apps but I’ve moved them to the last page of my Home Screen, hidden in a folder and it’s been I think more than 2 weeks now? It definitely helps. I keep RUclips but I kind of “filter” the content I watch (I watch art videos, workout videos, creative content etc)
omg those spring rolls, that made me hungry! 😅🤤
With the puzzles always start with the edges
Stay safe and stay mentally, and physically healthy 苹果妹.
oh lord just realized iam numb to violent scenes because when you were talking about being scared and anxious i was so confused on why
I usually wouldn't be so triggered, but it was literally because I was reading about asian hate crimes the night before and because of the Atlanta shootings that made me super paranoid!
The puzzle scene *joys of not having a cat *
Hi applecheeks I loveeeeeeee youuu and I’m sure this video will be freacking amazinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
actually I may try this. I actually have severe anxiety from being away from my email and social media for too long because I do most of my Art Business ventures on it and what if someone comes in and wants to commission me etc etc. I would probably start crying if i went away for a week or month. and get very moody. Most of my inspiration comes from socials.
I still used emails! I just didn’t go on social media to look at other peoples art or post stories :3
Try to find positive influence sources, try to avoid reading and watching those negative information that can brings you down,
I know this works, because I’ve been there...away from the social media that will influence your mood is absolutely a right way to do.
Yes it’s graduating season.. omg I have to graduate too aaaahhh
omg good luck!!
@@apple.cheeks Thank you! ❤ That's why I've missed a few premiers! 😭
I am such a fan Tiffany! I live in LV as well and always joke to my husband that I will act like a total fan if I ever saw you in person. LOL 😂
I use to have a tone of social media’s till I had a breakdown, and now I only have Instagram and RUclips (Pinterest for motivation)
Ooo, I see USPS' thank you stamps ♥️
when you said "im old" i just held my chest and counted the years since I graduated uni... 7years lol
Not sure how other Unis are-- but at my Uni you can graduate in the Fall or Spring, just depends on how your classes play out. I'll be graduating this semester and my sister is graduating in the Fall.
At my college we were able to graduate every term, so 3 times a year! :) An early congrats to you on graduating
I don't have any social media installed beside youtube and pinterest just because when I have them in my phone I just feel like there's a pressure on my shoulders and I never get enough things done.
Stamps for dayyyyyssssss
i think this is a good idea 💝 i wanna try it bc my anxiety has been over the top with uni, covid and living in chile 😹
Try it out!! 🥰
I had to go to the HOSPITAL for my wisdom teeth!
im graduating this april!!! so most folks are probably in their finals. my studio classes have been very busy the past bit, now im just dealing with the dread of what to do with my fine art degree LOL
OOO! Congrats :3 Good luck!
@@apple.cheeks Thank you!! :D
people really freak out after u not being on social media for one week? dayum
loved the vlog!!! So brave for saying no to social media :D I think I could never do that, but I am addicted to youtube. It's my real life netflix ;) did you also notice less anxiety? You looked way more relaxed and content
I was feeling so much better and anxiety was pretty low! I felt like I didn't have to constantly check it and I could actually enjoy my hobbies without checking my phone during~~
I think that was a Chloe Ting workout video LOL. Nice job!
Being away from social media is really relaxing 😎. Also where did you get your pink jacket from the very end of the video?
The sweater is from Madewell! :)

Just here to say I love your videos and I hope you’re okay💖 stay safe! Also, I don’t know if you can do curbside pickup where you live, but to feel safe I order my groceries on quicklist(this is for Kroger) and the grocery store will load it in my car for me so I don’t have to go inside. ((:
that's so smart, I'll see if I have that at my markets :O
