Thanks for the tips. I haven't played punk music in like 20 years and when I did recently, I just put the hh on 1 and 3 with the bass drum to stop that sticking dilemma. I'll try the technique you suggested when I'm not sick in bed 😢
I call that Moeller…I was taught that push/pull is a similar motion (…one stroke on the down and another on the up)but pushing and pulling only with the fingers.
