Can’t wait for my Pilot 7L to arrive. What sold me was the back pocket, that not many messenger bags have, the hidden pocket and the fact that they don’t look like camera bags.
Thanks to you, Mark, I own a Pilot 7L and a 10L both with Fidloks. Thank you !! I like everything I see about the Scout except the leather and having no Fidloks. If it came with webbing and Fidloks I love to would add the Scott to my "collection" of bags.
I like the extra height of the Scout for my 100-400 but I am perfectly happy with every aspect of my Pilot 7L. I think the Retro look of the leather and metal will appeal to many but I am more concerned with functionality.
I have owned it since 1984 or 85 and it is what got me from the UK to Australia. I hit a horse and cart in Sumatra and it wouldn't stop leaking oil so the 800 cc motor was replaced with a 1,000 cc motor in the 90's
I have divided my gear between two small messenger bags for the last few years. One messenger bag takes a camera and three primes while the second has a second body and 100-400 GM. Sometimes I pack on messenger with two bodies and two primes. I weight up how I will shoot the project before I pack the gear. I am then forced to shoot with what I am carrying and not what I left at home or the hotel. When on location where the subjects being photographed change frequently I leave one bag in the vehicle if it is not required. I also make a habit of only shooting some events with just one body and one lens. I once shot an entire triathlon with the 50mm f/1.2 GM.
@@AlphaCreativeSkills Mark, I imagine you have a very specific idea of what you will be shooting before you travel. That would be of great assistance. Travel photography, whenever that resumes, is really a secondary issue- I have received clear directives from a certain member of the house!
Thanks for the review Mark. They have labeled it a 9L on their website when I follow that link you provided Mark. Is that the correct link? I don't see a 7L option.
I was told it was a 7L bag when they sent me the review sample - after watching my video they realised they had measured their own bag incorrectly. The carrying capacity is clearly outlined in the video by what gear it is capable of carrying.
Wotancraft supplied the review sample saying it was a 7L and they re-measured the bag after watching my review. I have corrected the error in the info section below the video but do not have time to remake this video.
I'm actually surprised have much I can fit in my Peak Design (PD) 10L Sling (orig) default config - Sony A7RIII w PD Clutch, A7RIV (full spectrum mod), 135GM, 50GM, 24GM, ×8 82mm filters with step up rings, SD card wallet, PD neck Strap, spare Z battery, various cleaning items, x4 25×25cm microfibre cleaning/padding cloths, Hex keys & bolts/screws & ~1.35m Leofoto tripod/head. Weights about 6-7kg. Be nice to maybe get a slightly bigger bag, so I'm always on the lookout.
Holy Moly they are dishing these new ones out like sweets to RUclipsrs this time, I’ve seen about 4 videos. That being said I have the pilot 7l and I love it - I just wish their distribution was a bit better. Having to worry about import duties is a bit of a nightmare ordering from Taiwan
I expect Wotancraft are building a relationship with a distributor in the USA as I am aware that many photographers will want to purchase from a local source.
I personaly disagree. A backpack is much more comfortable than a messengerbag. And the backpack don't need to be big to carry what you you can put in a 7L messengerbag.
I am totally confused as to why you watched a video about a messenger bag with the words 'messenger bag' in the title if you had come to this conclusion before watching the video. I have worked as a Pro photographer for 42 years and used a backpack for most of that time - I got tired of being a pack mule. Now I travel light and have never looked back. A backpack is more comfortable if you pack everything you intend to use and all of the things that you pack that you rarely use. The 'just-in-case' photographer.
@@AlphaCreativeSkills I appologize for seeing your video from the start to the end. I did not knew that I must agree 100% with you to watch your videos.

Thanks Mark. I have ordered the 7l Pilot and credited your YT at checkout on Wotancraft's website as I am UK based. 👍
Awesome, thank you!

I am still a fan of this bag after owning it for 18 months.

I appreciate your style Mark...👍
Nice to see your ride an old BMW GS!!!

@@AlphaCreativeSkills wow quite a story
Excellent video as usual, Mark. With your wide array of (heavy,if excellent) GM glass, one is moved to wonder how it is that you "can travel light"?

Great video mark
I could not find the Scout 7L all around the internet. Only 9L available

But the new Scout's capacity is 9l not 7l.
See the info below the video.

Pilot is 410g lighter than Scout. I prefer the Pilot…..But Scout is equipped with 2 front pockets Pilot not.
... great, things in military design are booming these days. 👍🏻
Wotan... the king of the gods?
I see you know you German mythology
