Practicing Paganini Caprice No16

  • I remember playing this Paganini Caprice as a kid. Practicing it again now as my warm up for Detachè (French: “separated”, also known as “on the string”.)
    It requires even up and down bowing, without any noticeable gaps between the notes.
    In this Caprice No 16 the main aspect is Forte markings on some of the notes, meaning that you have to accentuate them more. Practice slowly for the intonation and then gradually increase the tempo, allowing yourself to get used to faster shifts and bow movements.
