Mr. Bet-David, please do a sit down interview with Tom Platz. Although he never won an Olympia, Platz is at the top of the list when it comes to the most fascinating and engaging bodybuilders of all time. Also one of the most influential as well.
This is the best bodybuilding interview I have ever watched. The interviewer knows the topic and asks a wide scope of relevant questions. Dorian answers straight forward, no dancing around the topic.
Great and honest olympian and honestly a great interviewer aswell, asks the right questions and knows his stuff, watch the ronnie coleman one and see how different ronnie is...felt like he was saying alot of lies
Patrick love your interviews Dorian one of the best love David Icke ones only started on Utube a few weeks ago I'm hooked mostly because you asked the questions that keep it interesting and informative thanks Patrick rgds Bruce Johnston from Sydney Australia 👌
It's good to hear Dorian is doing well and being positive despite all his injuries. Some bodybuilders retire and they're like a shell of their past selves but with Dorian it just feels like he started a new chapter in his life
@Mr Zeus shut your ass. Doriyan is a mans man in the way he talks and acts and his morals, men should look up to men like Dorian. In regards to his balls and his testosterone etc I think if you're that interested you should pursue your fantasy else where.
For someone who never really knew that much about Dorian I must say what an outspoken, intelligent, mindful, insightful and humble person he is, truly amazing interview, thank you Patrick.
You should learn about Mike Mentzer. Dorian was a student of his and if you know Mike, you know those compliments apply to him just as much if not more than Dorian
I'm English and proud of what Dorian achieved but sad that he is relatively unknown or celebrated in the UK. I watch all his interviews but this one is by far my favourite so far, brilliant job 👍
I really love that Dorian internalised the experience where he knocked Lee Haney, it was so out of his character that it stuck in his mind and was a source of regret. Amazing, cerebral and honorable gent.
Unquestionably the best interview I have ever seen with Dorian. Rogan was really good. London Real was outstanding. This? This is perfection. A very talented, practiced interviewer (which is so much more than simply asking questions) sitting down and discussing a topic with which he CLEARLY has a history and understanding. Add to that a man who was not only the best in his chosen profession in the most competitive era the sport has ever seen, but has matured and gone on to completely destroy the “meathead” stereotype more ways than I can count. Dorian Yates has grown from a troubled boy into a warrior into the wise old chieftain that everyone wishes they could learn from. I have been watching him since 1991 and never have I heard a braggadocious word emanate from his mouth. Dorian either demonstrates through action or steps back and works until he gets it right. He is the living embodiment of what is possible with the right mix of belief in ones self, raw effort, and humility. Absolutely superb 2 hours that I look forward to watching again very soon!
Matthew I don’t really class it as an interview more a conversation about a topic that they’re both clearly passionate about I think that’s why it comes off so good, they just gel together no awkward silence’s at all. 👌🏻👍🏻
I’d agree that this interviewer is one of the more responsible and respectful, I just wish he’d stop helping the guest answer the question. Drives me nuts when he’s muttering or talking at the same time the guest is trying to answer the questions he just asked them. Maybe it’s his passion for what he’s dealing with. But all in all, one of the best on RUclips and NOBODY is interviewing these kinda guests to the depth he does.
Patrick really knows bodybuilding and the era and it shows. For that aspect, it is the best DY interview. But the London Real movies cover a lot of Dorian's thinking that goes really deep. Dorian mentions at one point he wants to bring his vibrational energy to higher levels to basically get to the higher life form 'next time'. I'm not much into so called "new age" stuff but that resonated with me.

Dorian is a legend and this is a superb interview, I stood outside Temple Gym around 26yrs ago, never had the courage to go down and train! Met him at Dubai muscle show and he laughed when I told him, don’t worry he said not many people had the balls to step inside, a real cool dude
I remember Patrick once said that his favourite interviews are the ones that are 1hr long, this is a 2hr interview. Patrick was having the best time of his life interviewing this man! :P
Yeah that pic of the two of them really shed some light on these two. Patrick def seemed to enjoy this interview, it was well done. Dorian is as real as it gets and thanks to Patrick in being so genuinely curious he was able to get more information out of this interview with Dorian than ever before.
I love these long form podcasts hosted by Patrick. There's so much value that's hidden in what seems like a casual conversation between 2 interesting people
That point about noting how people treat the little guys - I was taught that from an early age, and I couldn't agree more - if you only treat someone well because they have status, you're garbage. I always say hi to the guys in a building who are cleaning or people serving food - they're showing up and doing their best. We can't be all be Dorian Yates (cause there's only one Shadow!), but we sure as hell can treat people with dignity. A superb interview.
The more I watch Dorian the more I just love this man. I love his respect for everyone is the same. You could have a beer or joint with Dorian in a club and you would be just 2 blocks having beer/joint and a chat. Dorian’s attitude to life and respect for others is what makes him a true champion.
Listening this interview the third time, I loved him before but my love for him has accentuated and respect amplified, Most genuine person with true sportsman spirit. God bless him, I really admire him tons and heaps and hope I am able to adopt some of his best qualities in me.
👏🏻Excellent interview👍🏻 I met Dorian one time while I was training at Bev Francis Gold's Gym in Syosset, New York, in the 1990s. I saw him sitting quietly in the office, and I said, "It's always nice meet a legend." He calmly reached over to shake my hand and asked, "Are you a member of the gym?" He was quite reserved and gentlemanly from what I remember. Thank you 🙏🏻
41:30 What an ultimately chilled dude!! If that was his big moment in life when he "once lost it"... and all he said was "Son, go eat your ice cream in the kitchen??"....that guy is chill AF hahaha
Master perfect , a lot of the guests that are Patrick's podcast feel very comfortable to the point where they are being themselves without being pressured to reveal in honesty what they have to say. One of the main reasons that you can listen in for hours to his guests.
This is a great interview. Dorian Yates was the top bodybuilder in the 90s when I was a teenager and constantly buying muscle magazines and working out while drinking Joe weider protein shakes. I started working out at 13 years old and even though I've gone a long time without working out, it's been a constant in my life. A few years ago I was working out constantly and dedicated for 2 years straight. Going to the gym 3 to 5 days a week. Then I got an injury at work and was out of commission for 5 months. Right when I healed up the coronavirus hit and the gym's closed down. That took my 2-year dedication completely drug-free and knocked it for a loop. It's so hard to get back into it after that. But this interview with Dorian really is motivating me to get my ass back to the gym and take it seriously again. At 45 years old it doesn't get any easier. But I thank you for this interview and for all the Dorian says in this. Dorian is intelligent, down-to-earth, and honest. And he is one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. also as a huge Arnold Schwarzenegger fan since I was a kid, I really liked how Dorian gave Arnold respect for being one of the best, despite Dorian not having the greatest opinion of Arnold.
Best scientific title you could ever describe Dorian with, he's still looking healthy, Basically he knew how to drive his body during the toughest time right down to relax time, and he's making business now enjoying his successful life, that's what a genius man could ever be like.
It's cool how Patrick really learns about who he's interviewing before he gets an interview, I've been a bodybuilding fan for over a decade, and Patrick knows some things only a fan would know.
His view on Flex is exactly what Denzel said in one of his speeches: Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. EASE IS A GREATER THREAT TO PROGRESS THAN HARDSHIP.
Best interviewer, end of story. I honestly don't even like watching interviews but Valuetainment brings the best guests and Dorian Yates is easily the most savage yet most knowledgeable bodybuilders out there. He asks the right questions, lets the person elaborate his story, good job.
But dorian didnt tap out when haney beat him. Mcgregor is a quiting over hyped little bitch with the most nieve and gullible fans in sport history by far its so pathetic its hilarious
@@gregf8167 That tap out argument is only used by retards, by that logic any fighter that ever tapped is a bitch? conor has lost his edge but he was the greatest a couple of years back, denying that is just being dishonest. i know you dont like him but he DID clean out the FW division and beat the p4p #1 in 13 seconds. credit where its due
Dear Patrick, just wanted to say thank you for this interview. It was Excellent!! Dorian was one of my childhood heroes along with a few others that were spoken about. This interview was fascinating, illuminating and so helpful in many areas. You brought out the best in Dorian and asked all the right questions. Congrats. 🎉
Great interview. Dorian is a good guy through and through. He trained hard without compromise. But what I admire a lot about him is how he treats everyone on the same horizontal plane.
The only bodybuilder I cared to look like most is Frank Zane. Dorian is the mentality I always strive for and Arnold is the success I always want. It's amazing how many different things these bodybuilders offer actually.
This comment didn't age well, lol. Thanks to Arnold "screw your freedoms" Schwarzenegger. I used to respect him too, don't get me wrong....but he's a spineless political puppet.
@@blueprince2330true , especially after what Tom Platz told what Arnie did to him in Mr.Olympia when he had torn biceps ! He would do anything to win and to make his friends win! Now I’m doubting his training routine , as 5-6 hours everyday was too much volume. Mike mentzer and Dorian Yates’s principle seems right 3-4 times a week with full intensity and sets till absolute failure will get you the results instead of training 2-3 hours everyday without that intensity or training to failure ( at least close to failure )
LOVE this conversation!!!! Had every Muscle&Fitness, Flex, Ironman, even Muscle Media 2000 from about1992-1996, and posters of SerGio Olivia, Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone, Lee Priest, Dorian Yates all over my walls as a teenager. Was calculating macros in my head for 2 decades (still do, to some degree). LOVE who Dorian is and how he thinks and his monk-like focus on what he is passionate about! Started watching this and just couldn't stop. THANK YOU Patrick and Dorian..... for this nostalgic trip down memory lane. (p.s. My faves are still Steve Reeves, Sergio Olivia, and Franco Columbu...... but Dorian Yates was the guy whose mind I connected with - the love of Body Building for it's own sake - the science - and the focus.) YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!!
Dorian Yates was my inspiration and I subscribed to Muscle and Fitness and got the healthiest ever following him and reading about him. He was the most efficient bodybuilder in my belief!
I love his "bro" style of interviewing. Just talks to him like he's his boy. "When was your first experience with a girl?"... "Oh you started early too?!?!?"
@@astapasta7119 haha interesting. this interview seems good. but regardless there are interviewers that just cant shut the fuck up while the guest is talking lol thats what pisses me off

Dorian is the BEST in the business he came from a council flat in Birmingham England and used that anger and madness in a constructive way to become a 6 time Mr.Olympia. He is the best for a reason and I LOVE him for that. I grew up in a similar neighborhood in the states myself so I can relate to his situation. Cheer Dorian on he is successful and earned EVERYTHING he ever has accomplished 99.9% of people in his position would have quit. But Dorian Yates never quit and that's motivational in itself.
Thank you for asking the right questions. This was an articulate, enlightening, informative interview with the masterful Dorian Yates. Outstanding insights into the incredibly sport that is Body Building.
It’s amazing for a guy who has no training in journalism or interviewing Pat has the best interviews anywhere. Like when you ask about Dorian’s make up and drive. Did he get it from birth or was it taught. Those type of insightful questions are ones you don’t see others ask. Dorian was special. Great 2 hours I no longer listen to the radio in the car I just listen to these interviews.
This is a great interview. I’ve heard so many of Dorian’s stories retold in every interview and never really tire of listening to him but there was loads of new stuff here. Great job, thank you.
So much better than other interview because the guest stands up to the personality of the interviewer. I hate it when the interviewer tries to help finish an answer. It’s distracting and shows problems with discipline. He tends to do this a great deal but in this interview, the guest wouldn’t put up with it. So kudos to Dorian. The interviewer is getting better. He does have a natural passion for what he does. I just wish he would let guests finish their answers on their own and would stop muttering under his breath while their trying to answer the question he just asked. I’m still a subscriber and I appreciate what he’s trying to do.
I remember Dorian coming and doing a "Posing" Show in HULL UK at a nght club called LA's in the early 1990's, This guy was a freak of nature I couldnt believe what I was seeing, he is such an insperational man I love listening to him.....

Dorian Yates was my hero back when I first started lifting weights. He still is, no other bodybuilder comes close for me.
Did you get a dream body? Or do you look like a 12 egg omelette
No matter where you’re at in your bodybuilding journey, Dorian is a true inspiration
True
He is so into it
@@danfer.personal Tea
Yeah that pic of the two of them really shed some light on these two. Patrick def seemed to enjoy this interview, it was well done. Dorian is as real as it gets and thanks to Patrick in being so genuinely curious he was able to get more information out of this interview with Dorian than ever before.
If you are a well informed lifter and you LIKE lifting weights.... you are are dreaming interviewing this guy.
Dorian Yates is actually one of the most down to earth people ... and the interviewer big up to you both !
He is completely different than I would have expected. Pretty awesome.
I love these long form podcasts hosted by Patrick. There's so much value that's hidden in what seems like a casual conversation between 2 interesting people
Mr Yates is by far my favourite mr olympia of all time!
Modest, professional with his no BS attitude.
Todays guys has so much to learn from him...
Dorian Yates is one of the most intelligent, well spoken person that I have ever listened to. My entire idea of Dorian Yates has been changed.
No it's not the best are only what are the best. No compromises. But You can still be someone that is one of s kind
Something, sadly, it would seem that Phil Heath has still not learned.
Dorian a Class Act, never get bored of listening. two hours seemed too short.
yeah
The more I watch Dorian the more I just love this man. I love his respect for everyone is the same. You could have a beer or joint with Dorian in a club and you would be just 2 blocks having beer/joint and a chat. Dorian’s attitude to life and respect for others is what makes him a true champion.
Listening this interview the third time, I loved him before but my love for him has accentuated and respect amplified, Most genuine person with true sportsman spirit. God bless him, I really admire him tons and heaps and hope I am able to adopt some of his best qualities in me.
Well here's an unexpected visitor lol
👏🏻Excellent interview👍🏻
I met Dorian one time while I was training at Bev Francis Gold's Gym in Syosset, New York, in the 1990s. I saw him sitting quietly in the office, and I said, "It's always nice meet a legend." He calmly reached over to shake my hand and asked, "Are you a member of the gym?" He was quite reserved and gentlemanly from what I remember.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Every interview with Dorian Yates is worth listening to.
This is definitely in the top 10 interviews of any genre on RUclips in the last 5yrs.
41:30 What an ultimately chilled dude!! If that was his big moment in life when he "once lost it"... and all he said was "Son, go eat your ice cream in the kitchen??"....that guy is chill AF hahaha
A true inspiration of a human being.
So relatable and honest. Integrity on point.
A fan of Dorian??Your everywhere m8.Dorian is my favourite bodybuilder.Hope your doing ok.
When I was a teenager 3 years into studying body building I realized the genius of this guy.
Learned alot from him.
I am seen soo Many Dorian interviews but this is the first time I am seeing Dorian actually enjoying the conversation...
Master perfect , a lot of the guests that are Patrick's podcast feel very comfortable to the point where they are being themselves without being pressured to reveal in honesty what they have to say. One of the main reasons that you can listen in for hours to his guests.
Not only a legend but a very intelligent guy who speaks his mind. Fantastic interview, keep up the good work!
He is the legend and no one can't denied that.
Dorian was 'my guy' when I started lifting in the 90s. I love his attitude, personality and perspective on everything. Amazing interview!!
Thanks!
Respect to Dorian for talking 100% truth.
Legend👊🏽
Definitely my fav bodybuilder of all time. He's incredibly intelligent, put in the hard work and he's always been 100% transparent.
Best scientific title you could ever describe Dorian with, he's still looking healthy, Basically he knew how to drive his body during the toughest time right down to relax time, and he's making business now enjoying his successful life, that's what a genius man could ever be like.
Bedankt
I grew up being the biggest yates fan..after watching this video even more now..thank you..
my respect towards Dorian after this interview is through he roof! you are a man's man!
A very inspiration man.....when I'm having a rough day I just have to listen to Dorian's positive logic and I feel like I can take on anything.
Dorian has an enigmatic personality that leaves you hungry for more of his content.
Refreshing and nice to see a genuinely interested interviewer
I was curious when i watched the intro but man i got absorbed by his story, that was fascinating i admire this man.
Watched him win 3 of his Sandow’s and have witnessed him develop into an intelligent articulate and kind gentleman. He has my utmost admiration.
It's cool how Patrick really learns about who he's interviewing before he gets an interview, I've been a bodybuilding fan for over a decade, and Patrick knows some things only a fan would know.
The guy knows about everything he's been around lived a crazy life himself you are just a casual that's all
@@trevorwilliams1765 lol and who the fuck are you
Papa Smurf he’s a crazy man, we are just casuals
trevor williams lol wtf!
He was a bodybuilder himself. Of course he knows.
His view on Flex is exactly what Denzel said in one of his speeches: Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. EASE IS A GREATER THREAT TO PROGRESS THAN HARDSHIP.
One of the best interviews I ever watched! I enjoyed it and I really like Dorian Yates, he is a good guy.
Dorian is definitely one of GOATs in bodybuilding and also podcast/you tube interviews- top man!
Best interviewer, end of story. I honestly don't even like watching interviews but Valuetainment brings the best guests and Dorian Yates is easily the most savage yet most knowledgeable bodybuilders out there. He asks the right questions, lets the person elaborate his story, good job.
Someone said Dorian looks like connor McGregor's grandpa and I cant unseen that 😂😂
ThumbWiggler OMG😭😭
But dorian didnt tap out when haney beat him. Mcgregor is a quiting over hyped little bitch with the most nieve and gullible fans in sport history by far its so pathetic its hilarious
He would slap the silly out of that little shrimp...
That sounds like an awesome movie script . Find a kid that looks like Connor McGregor and put the three in a movie together .
This man is serious about what he does. Thank you for interviewing him.
Love Dorians assessment of the top 5 bodybuilders of all time, those who stood out is pretty spot on
The only bodybuilder I cared to look like most is Frank Zane.
Mike mentzer and Dorian Yates’s principle seems right
3-4 times a week with full intensity and sets till absolute failure will get you the results instead of training 2-3 hours everyday without that intensity or training to failure ( at least close to failure )
just like arnold said to you americans: "screw your freedom"@@blueprince2330
I always said Arnold made it famous, Coleman was the best but if I could pick anyone to look like it would definitely be Frank Zane
Clever words.
Top marks to the interviewer. Clearly admires Dorian but managed to make the interview full and informed
That picture of Pat and Dorian from a few years ago is amazing for a number of reasons. Great stuff.
Huge inspiration growing up in the 90's, both inside and outside the gym.
I love his "bro" style of interviewing. Just talks to him like he's his boy. "When was your first experience with a girl?"... "Oh you started early too?!?!?"
Hes a great interviewer including the one from London Real.
Sometimes he gets close to being an ass kisser. 20 years ago he wouldn't dare ask Dorian these questions.
@@astapasta7119 haha interesting. this interview seems good. but regardless there are interviewers that just cant shut the fuck up while the guest is talking lol thats what pisses me off
@@ddppbbqq INTERVIEWEE he's the one being interviewed.
He most definitely has a ego hes just good at hiding it... Having all then torn up body parts like half a bicep and thinking he should have still won clearly shows ego
41:30 What an ultimately chilled dude!! If that was his big moment in life when he "once lost it"... and all he said was "Son, go eat your ice cream in the kitchen??"....that guy is chill AF hahaha
This guys a total legend, really honest interview and interviewer looks like hes a total fan boy who asks every awkward question you can think of lol
Watched this twice. Could listen to dorian all day. Straight to the point
Second time I watch it too man
Absolutely wonderful interview Mr. Yates and Mr. Bet-David! 22:49-"Run...Dorian...Run!"
This is a great interview. I’ve heard so many of Dorian’s stories retold in every interview and never really tire of listening to him but there was loads of new stuff here. Great job, thank you.
Interviewer is great. I believe it’s due to his comfort and genuine interest.
That hulk in the background looks skinny now. “He wouldn’t make top 10 in my era” dorian
He wouldn't be wrong LOL
LMAO
Too thick on the waist. No symmetry.
He's holding too much water. Didn't take his conditioning seriously. 😂
Ive heard pros dont pay for the gear at www.us-domesticsupply.ws they get it free ofcharge?
So much better than other interview because the guest stands up to the personality of the interviewer. I hate it when the interviewer tries to help finish an answer. It’s distracting and shows problems with discipline. He tends to do this a great deal but in this interview, the guest wouldn’t put up with it. So kudos to Dorian. The interviewer is getting better. He does have a natural passion for what he does. I just wish he would let guests finish their answers on their own and would stop muttering under his breath while their trying to answer the question he just asked. I’m still a subscriber and I appreciate what he’s trying to do.
Man I loved the interview. I got a few golden nuggets out of DY's experiences. Very good job.
I remember Dorian coming and doing a "Posing" Show in HULL UK at a nght club called LA's in the early 1990's, This guy was a freak of nature I couldnt believe what I was seeing, he is such an insperational man I love listening to him.....
That’s really cool. The culture in the 90s was so much cooler

Best interview in years seriously 2hrs of captivating questions
i feel that i slept on this interview for 2 years because i have watched SO many DY interviews that i didn’t want to just “rewatch” another…. Boy was i wrong, this may be the best Iv personally every watch from DY. Thank you Patrick !
The interviewer makes Dorian comfortable and you can tell he is enjoying it...it really was a great interview
Well I did have plans but ended up watching this whole thing, what a great interview. Dorian is fascinating
At least I'm not alone 👀
