    Arie force one is proof numbers aren’t everything. Middle of the road stats, but uber-intense and ultra elite ride experience. Great vid as always

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 11 месяцев назад +16

      Honestly, RMC in general is proof that stats aren't everything. The small raptors are very intense rides, as is Storm Chaser.
      That said, clearly having a gigantic lift hill does help quite a bit with pacing and intensity when it comes to RMC because they use that speed well.

    • @AirtimeThrills
      @AirtimeThrills  11 месяцев назад +21

      Yeah its lower pacing stats surprised me. Also the fact that wicked cyclone is so good despite being 4th to last in pacing

    • @randalheller7460
      @randalheller7460 11 месяцев назад

      No it’s proof his ranking system is flawed it should be # of elements throughout the ride time and track length. With his logic you could just go ride straight track for twenty seconds and be the best paced coaster on earth.

    • @holgranbreddddd
      @holgranbreddddd 11 месяцев назад +10

      @@randalheller7460it’s not a ranking system based on how good the rides are, it’s just factual statistics. Sure, your example would be the best paced ride in the world, but no one said pacing=the best ride. Iirc, arie force one is his second favorite RMC, number 3 overall (I think?). These are just numbers, not opinions or personal preferences

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@randalheller7460 pacing is really a matter of speed. You're speaking about the more intangible aspects of coasters which reflect diversity and thrill level. A coaster could have nothing but unbanked turns that come every 15 feet and have more elements throughout the layout than a faster coaster but whether or not that makes it "well paced" is really dependent on how good those elements are. Wild Mouse coasters often have more individual elements than larger coasters but I don't think that makes them better paced just because the quantity of elements is high.
      He's being objective in his comparisons and his pacing ranking reflects the average velocity. Yes, a coaster with straight track that averages 80 mph would be well paced by that definition. It doesn't mean it's good, just fast.
      None of these rankings reflects how good or action packed the rides are. But that's not what he's going for. I could add that "prime ride time" is subjective because highly themed coasters might have prime moments when the train is stopped or before the lift hill. But he's focusing on average coaster speed which is objective.

    Interesting to see Wildcat's Revenge at only 12th in pacing. The PERCEPTION of the pace for me was VERY HIGH, maybe due to the winding and criss/crossing layout? That thing HAULS on a night ride and is in my top 5 overall coasters. Absolutely love it. Hershey Park has a gem worth travelling for.

      Getting faster and faster throughout the day seems to be a common characteristic of RMCs. Every single one I've rode has gotten considerably faster throughout the day, although I can't say that for sure about the raptors. I always end up getting assigned different seats through the day and the ride experience is just so different (and so wild) from one seat to another that I can't compare.

    • @taylordixon5871

      @Studio732JRL I'm not implying people ARE travelling for it, I'm advocating that they SHOULD be. It's my #4 coaster overall, and my #2 coaster made by RMC. It's exceptional.

    Wicked Cyclone remains firmly at my number three overall. Earlier this year, Hakugei came in hot to be my new number four. It might have actually displaced WC but it was hard for me to compare since it was August in Japan (aka stupidly hot) and I was definitely suffering from some heat exhaustion and/or residual headache from Nagashima’s janky old Arrow corkscrew.

  • @OklahomaCoasterFan
    @OklahomaCoasterFan 11 месяцев назад +4

    This shows that it's not as important how fast the train goes. It's about what the ride does and the profiling of the elements. Storm Chaser, Twisted Timbers, & Wicked Cyclone are relentless and so strong. They may not cover ground as fast as some others, but the elements are world class, and you move rapidly from one element to the next.

    Wicked Cyclone was my very first RMC, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I've now ridden a total of 5 RMCs (Wicked Cyclone, SteVe, JD, Iron Gwazi, Wildcats Revenge), and with the exception of JD, they are all my favorite coasters in their respective parks. Goes to show that prime ride time doesn't make or break a ride. Always love watching these vids and seeing how some of my favorite coasters I have ridden, match up to those I haven't. Keep up the great work!!!

    Another enthusiast asked me when we were going up the lift of Iron Gwazi which I preferred more. Steel Vengeance or Iron Gwazi? I had to say Steel Vengeance strictly due to its ride length and how it really doesn't let up throwing you out of your seat, not to mention all the track inside of the structure. I was really surprised when they were building Iron Gwazi that there was no mid-course. I feel like the coaster has too much potential still when you hit the brake run. But Iron Gwazi packs a quick and effective punch, and both Steel Vengeance and Iron Gwazi are great coasters in their own regard. Your By the Numbers really backs up how I feel about the two.

    Always love a good By The Numbers video! I have to mention my unpopular RMC opinions though.
    I got my first and only rides (for now) on Lightning Rod back in March of 2023 when it was in the 30s-low 50s, and despite these conditions, it became my favorite RMC! I am not an airtime-only type of enthusiast, so a ride like Steel Vengeance, while still incredible, does not appease me as much as a ride that does more than just airtime. Lightning Rod has amazing airtime while being extremely aggressive with all its forces, including its speed and even positive Gs. You feel like the ride is trying to rip you in half. Also, "slowing down" the launch only affected the Dolly. I've timed all sorts of POVs from all the years starting on the first drop, and all clocked in at around 40 seconds.
    Lightning Rod is my favorite RMC and ranks 5th overall in my list. Only Fury 325 (#4), Intimidator 305 (#3), VelociCoaster (#2), and The Voyage (#1) beat it for me. It's an insane ride and while I'm a little sad to see it lose its launch, I'm very excited for a reliable ride with 2-train ops!
    My personal RMC rankings:
    1. Lightning Rod - Reasoning listed above.
    2. Steel Vengeance - It never ends! Still not as aggressive as I want it to be and too focused on airtime, but the sheer quantity puts it here. It used to be my number one before I realized I prefer coasters that either combine a mix of forces (ex. Fury 325, VelociCoaster, The Voyage) or try to kill you (ex. Intimidator 305).
    3. Twisted Timbers - Sometimes I prefer this to Steel Vengeance, mainly because the airtime is MUCH more powerful.
    4. Storm Chaser - I loved it, but it is not the most aggressive RMC I've ridden. I thought Twisted Timbers was a lot more aggressive.
    5. Goliath - Very underrated! It is not a long ride, but packs a huge punch!
    6. Twisted Colossus - The dueling experience would rank higher, but looking at how the ride normally runs, you can tell these elements were built for dueling. They don't hit as hard individually.

    I feel there's no way JDC is dead last in pacing unless the POV was before it warmed up. It's like giving Iron Gwazi's it's stats based on the first ride in the morning. It is night and day between when it's warmed up and not, so I can only assume the POV gave it bad pacing.

    I’m interested to see what the prime ride time and pacing would be for Iron Gwazi in the morning and at night.
    Most RMCs suffer from this slow to warm up issue but Iron Gwazi seems to have it worst.

    I know everyone wants to see the mythical RMC T-Rex. If and when it gets built, how do you feel the pacing would be? I can imagine that it would probably have a very long track which could mess with pacing, however, The speed and height will be insane. Where do you think a creature like T-Rex could land on a fun and informative list like this?
    Part of me wants to see something that rides like Steel Vengeance, only more hardcore, but part of me can also see it being a smooth and long ride with pops of airtime, but also great like 325? Do you see T-Rex falling in between these two or will it be just cray-Z?

    RMC needs to stick with their slightly slower, longer layouts, then iron gwazi type. If you got the height and speed... USE IT. Don't let it all go to waste on breaks.

    Wicked Cyclone at SFNE ran faster this year, and was actually completing the cycle in 52 seconds. It also hit 56 mph during the year. How does that affect the pacing?

    If its "by the numbers", then why is outlaw run above golaith, when goliaths numbers all higher than outlaw run? I guess it's cuz time in seconds is the only # actually considered.

    Lightning Rod's prime ride time shouldn't begin until after the train enters the pre-drop directly after the lift hill. I wouldn't count any other rides lift hill, not sure why you're counting this one. Would be different if it was still a true launch, but not as Maverick's lift hill. lol
