@@dandeitch3459nah I blame Stone for hiring Silas and allowing him to ruin those two formidable years of Jalen’s career. I still agree with selecting an explosive lead guard (at the time) over a big man who might possibly get exposed in isolation defense for not having agility for their size

@@gautamsane1499 - there seems to be more guards like Green in every draft than bigs like Mobley. Mobley has the skill set to be a top tier defender at the 4 or the 5 & he is plenty more efficient on the offensive end than Green.

To add the point, you see other teams stack paint with 3 or even 4 guys when alperen has the ball, because they know that there is no shooting at the rockets. And when they stack the paint guess what alperen is going to have a hard time. You see alperen passing out to the open guys at the perimeter but those the guys cant make those open shots. And it will become harder to get off boards because they stacked the paint and now boxing out alperen and jabari etc.

That’s an excuse. Sengun has come out slow for over a month now. He doesn’t make hustle plays hence why is always getting out rebounded by Amen, Jalen. It’s hypocritical not to fault him as well.

    • @vaudou_
      @vaudou_ 7 месяцев назад +10

@@felipecornejo7309 Amen and Jalen have options off the bench. Sengun has been ran into the ground with an offense that doesn't have much cutting that allows the other team to load up in the paint and a lack of shooting. Because of the lack of offense Sengun tries to stay out of foul trouble by playing verticality. When that happens he gets taken out of the rebounding possession by the driving player. That's why other players get the boards instead. It's basic basketball.

That’s the only way he’s going to get them out the paint. We ALL know alpi is going to post and spin and fake or drive and spin.

I think Stone has done a below average job if I am being totally honest. He’s hit on his lower picks, but he basically took best player available. Cam falling, obvious take. Tari falling, obvious take imo. Credit for trading for Sengun, but all 3 of those guys were projected lottery picks. Jabari, very obviously BPA but the way they were obviously glazing Paolo wasn’t smart.
But the biggest whiff has been Green, and he had a lot to do with it. We tanked two straight years, prioritized KPJ, and stunted Green’s development massively. We took Josh solely because of Jalen, then traded him swiftly after “the video”. Apparently missed on Garuba and TyTy. He just hasn’t done anything impressive to me, and we are running out of time on that Nets pick. Like yall said, I don’t hate Stone but he hasn’t been impressive at all. He’s been a 2k GM and ultimately neglected developing his highest draft pick. I think our future is bright with Ime but I don’t know if Stone is the guy going forward.

    • @Akobay
      @Akobay 7 месяцев назад +1

@@Aventsdor I understand that, but the highest pick looks like it could be his worst (not good) and the way we developed that player falls on him as well. If that’s your guy, cool. Great Pod. I agree with both you guys Stone's time as GM has been mediocre. I agreed with standing pat at the deadline, but letting Biyombo sit on the free agent market while you spend draft capital on Adams is mismanagement of assets. it's that simple. much of what has happened to the Rockets this year has been self inflicted. the kevin Porter situation, the missed injury assessment of Tari, the Adam's asset mismanagement, the overload of certain player's minutes just to name a few. at some point we have to stop complaining about the bumpy ride and ask who's driving the bus.

Great takes all around. Curious because I'm half glass full type, what would it take for Jalen to reach Alp's level of trust with the coaching staff and fan base? Roosh accurately assesses the "inverse" perception comparing the two. Is that success measurable or have a threshold to get to Alp's level?

At this point the only two things that make sense:
    1. build around Sengun
    2. trade Sengun and get a bag of FRP
Im like 50/50 here, I think Sengun is quite good, but whats his ceiling? imho its not a Luka, Jokic type of player Im afraid that is what you looking to build around. The other scenario is getting a bag of FRP, and build another 2/3 years with young players and still look for the player to build around, for me this has less risk at this point, thinking on selling Jalen, Bari, Tari for literally nothing is not a good decision, in terms of return of investment trading Sengun is best option for Rockets to still figure out what all this young players ceiling is. Also remember that at some point you need to decide what to do with all these young players contracts, league is happy at the moment seeing that Rocket does not have a clear strategy.

Defense is a function of effort, focus, and intensity…and paying attention to shifts and ball movement!
Simple…get between your man and the basket at all times…the closer the better! Help out and get into the lanes with length and quickness…..but always know where your man is!!
Players at this stage in career either have it or they don’t…they are only going to get slower and age…so if they don’t put it into
Play early on..then they are not going to be able to turn it on and off . Offensive minded coaching vs defensive minded coaches vs the balanced approach is the issue at point. Get players that meet your coaching preferences or coaches that match your players…tendencies. All around players are few and far between…already have a tendency…therefore you have to fill in around the stars to balance the Team for the best possible results…..this is an Art and hard to deliver/ succeed given the moving targets and differences in players strength and weaknesses and injuries…but most of all attitudes and egos…preferences and tendencies.
If it was easy…everybody would be able to get the winning formula !

The Rockets missed on the draft that brought in Sengun and Green. And Sengun is the biggest miss, no matter what is said about Green. Sengun is in over his head. He is physically unable to defend the bigs in this league. This is not Turkey. Even his offensive contributions are the result of Hakeem teaching him low post footwork and that is the gold standard. If he did not have that he would barely be able to score. Hakeem's footwork is like witchcraft on the block. But Sengun cannot jump, his arms are short, his body is thin and he does not have a mean streak. He plays a selfish game also. He wanted to be an all-star. So much so that he campaigned for it. Reminds me of Harden wanting to be MVP. But if you score 20 and give up 20 that is a 0 sum gain. And here you guys are talking about Jalen Green. He is a problem also but how do you trash his play and give Sengun a pass. I am more inclined to give Green a pass than Sengun. He at least has the physical skills. He just does not have the mentality. But he gives off disturbing vibes in his makeup. The dude wears nail polish. That tells me all I need to know.

If that was so easy to be able to score 20 points every game with one hour's training with Hakeem, every player in the NBA would be queuing at Hakeem's door. Go and watch Alpi doing those moves since he was 17 years old. You are an ignorant guy with mice-brain capacity.

Best two Rockets voices here, by a wide margin.
Quick thoughts: Stone should be on the hot seat. Green was a poor pick, org will struggle to advance until he's traded; high usage/low efficiency guards are a franchise killer. Brooks was a poor signing - overpaid, logjam at position with most talent to develop.
Cam needs to develop handle/playmaking over summer; org needs to assess whether he can play SG and should facilitate his "buy in" (lacking) because he's highly talented. Amen is the real deal, improvement on his shot will significantly impact his ceiling. Jabari's gotten lost in the development, needs to add 15-20 lbs of strength and improve his feel for the game.

If you do bench Jalen then that means anytime he plays better than those starting in front of him have to always play better and we're winning or they have to get benched too. otherwise whats the point?
Cause then you're creating incosistency and lack of chemistry. You can reduce Jalen minutes. Maybe bring him out after 5min and bring him back against 2nd unit.
But nba is about chemistry and fit, i don't think any of those guys on the bench fits the starters more than Jalen. As much as inneficient as he has been.
    1. No one can initiate plays and create for himself and for others Or be a lead ball handler in some extent where FVV is being pressured.
    2. Cam whitmore can't handle the ball and initiate plays for others but he can score.
    3. Amen can initiate plays but he is then limited cause he can't score at all beside in the dunk spot as of now and he has other tools defensively.
    3. Tari Eason can shoot better but not at high volume yet. And can not be a secondary ball handler to FVV.
    4. Only Aaron Holiday is the guy who can do the combination of both but without killing them. Do you want to start Aaron Holiday in 2024? 😅
    5. Thats why Stone said Jalen has the skillset that nobody has on a roster. Nobody can do what he does even being inneficient he is still is a threat and commands always the other team best defender always. That would go to FVV and nobody else can handle the ball of Jalen is out.
    6. The solution is only if Jalen doesn't improve is to trade him with nets picks for someone like Brandon Ingram since rumours say he could be available.
    Thats my point of view

John Wall is kinda a guy who has strong foothold in basketball players and he knew Jalen had an attitude and try to make him stand in line but Jalen made our front office kick him off the team. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing when Jalen was on Paul George Podcast throwing John Wall under the bus like he try to make him do chores when he was rookie but he ended up letting other rookies do his chores instead. We even had short burst of games where Jalen refused to loose scoring to Cam and always up his score just to show when game was complete out of hand. That’s very weak by Jalen but I knew he was weak long ago. Let’s step back for a second and talk about Mr. Franchise. When KPJ walked out of that locker room, Jalen should have demanded his release immediately. We watched gave him a pass, he’s young. That told me personally that Jalen didn’t have a Kobe or Jordan mentality from there I was at least hoping for a Rudy Gay type.
Jalen’s Mad because Ime offense requires a little Basketball IQ which Jalen isn’t great. Second the pick n roll exposed Jalen inability to pass the ball with kinda of success and not getting better.
I called for his trade after the Christopher situation if y’all remember. Now I understand all the talk with the Jalen to Brooklyn trade.
The pressure from heat being applied by Cam and Amen for minutes is cracking him. Let’s call Detroit and see if we can get Ausar Thompson & Grimes or 1 or those backup bigs for Mr. Green

  • @juqual78
    @juqual78 7 месяцев назад +1

30% from downtown. For a SG. Ouch. I bet if Jalen had worked on his shot and body in the offseason, he might actually have his legs for the full game and shoot far better overall.
How was Ime supposed to use him better? He isn't a great playmaker or ballhandler. He can't shoot. He can at times slash and get to the hoop and at times get some free throws but he can't consistently finish at a high level or make a living at the line, because he can't get there.
Really speaks to self accountability. At this level no one is going to hold your hand and make sure you know that you HAVE TO outwork your opponents if you want to have success. Sadly it appears he doesn't have someone with enough gravitas that can help him drive that point home and/or help keep him motivated. He already thinks he is him.

The way i see it, to me Udoka seems like he dont like Jalen. The vibe is a bit off, jalen lack of shooting is not on Udoka, the only player were you can arguably say that is not used properly is Bari. Cause he just standing in the corner, if anything he deserves more plays called and more post touchs.
The reason is simple, his fg percentages are actually good.
Another thing i.keep hearing is ppl hating on stone, First we must understand that Rockets owed picks to Okc, so when the Harden trade was done in essence he had to recoup some draft Capital back.
So let's look at his drafting, he took jalen , sengun, Bari, cam , tari, and amen. In my opinion I give him an A and the reasoning is because Sengun is looking like a Franchise player, Bari is getting better and better , Jalen is questionable but I'd like to see how he finishes the season since usually he somehow plays better in the 2nd half of the season. Cam.is balling and is putting up crazy percentages similar to Antony edwards at their age.
Let's also give him credit for the Cam trade , which ppl forget . He took that chance and seems like a big hit.
Also since he's the gm let's give him credit for the Udoka hire , while I still think he got some areas to improve,( Like attacking mismatches more) overall he's a really good coach and has turned things around.
Could of Stone done some things better here and there ? Absolutely, but I give him grace because when I look at the whole picture he literally had to redo the whole roster and coaching.
His job ain't done yet, let's see what he does in the offseason.

First off. There is a difference between someone telling a player what they should be doing who has no affiliation towards the team besides covering it, and the coach telling them. You think because of the response that judges character, which player is going to you that you are coming off the bench. They all want to start. Roosh is a clown for that, and now is trying to capitalize on it. Do I believe he needs to come off the bench, sure, but I also think you have hold everyone else accountable for the stuff they do wrong. Sengun no defense or rebounds, brooks shooting to much, Bari not aggressive, Ime bad substitution patterns and making adjustments to the offensive due to the players they have. If the team can’t shoot threes, what other schemes can you come up with. Good teams make adjustments we have not.

Either the rockets sacrifice wins to build up Jalen’s trade value and thus we extend the rebuild, or we play to win and bench him and risk that he essentially fades into irrelevance.

I cant buy hanging Stone over simply the Jalen pick. I’m not a fan of Stone. I’m somewhat undecided but Jalen is not the reason. I agree Jalen is failing to live up to the pick. I would have liked to see them trade him before the deadline. However, if you go back in time, almost every expert and almost every mock draft had Jalen going to the rockets. There would have been an uproar if he picked anyone else. He picked the guy that he was supposed to pick according to nearly everyone. It’s actually surprising how many lotto picks don’t live up to expectations. This is not the one thing you judge stone on. It can be a part of it. I think you judge him on everything else. The things in his favor: he got Sengun who should have been a much higher pick, he got Tari Eason who I think will be a star. Those were guys that came later in the first round and may turn out to be the future of the team. Those 2 picks layers are probably the most positive draft picks at this moment. In this last draft he got Amen and Cam. I think getting Cam must have been pure luck, but it looks like those guys have potential to also be 2 great moves. Amen is going to have to learn to shoot, but we all see the potential in those guys. This last off season in my opinion they were so desperate to bring in veterans that they overpaid, but they did need veterans. Van Fleet has been our floor general. Without him we are miserable. At this point Van Fleet looks good. Dillon I did not like paying him for 4 years. It may work out but right now he is taking floor space from other guys and his play has fallen off. So I would say Dillon is a negative currently. Jabari, looks like at worse he will be a solid player and at best a borderline star. I forgot to mention him above. Also they have done pretty well with Holiday and Jeff Green for the roles they were hired for. Jock Landale has been a failure. So it’s a mix bag with a ton of potential.
You also have to ask who picked Silas. Was it the owner or Stone or Harden at the time. Silas damaged all the development of these guys.
Right now if they’re healthy we need Fred, Cam, Tari, Jabari, and Sengun to start. I hope Stone does not fight benching Jalen and Dillon, because somethings don’t work and we need to know if these 5 guys are the future. Amen has to become a better shooter and floor general but if he does then it would make sense he will eventually replace Fred.

It’s cool that Roosh is going to be on the channel from now on.
I agree with you guys it seems like Ime and Stone are two different pages. Ime wants to win but Stone he wants to wait and hold out go through the process.
What Roosh is saying is true we are about to head into year 5 of this mess. At some point man this team needs to start showing results and start winning games.
If Jalen Green has to get bench so be it. I don’t care if he doesn’t see himself as a bench player why should I have you as a starter if you’re not playing well.
If the rockets view Jalen as a failure due to him being a sixth man well hey that’s on Stone. He should have drafted Evan Mobley and it’s his fault this roster is god awful I agree with Frank he has no idea on how to build a legit roster. I think it’s time to find a GM that knows about to build a roster while also knowing how to manage and make the right deals regarding contracts and roster constructing.
Frank and I may be stone haters but it’s been five years. The man hasn’t shown me he can build a championship roster and it’s pretty concerning not to mention that the Nets picks are becoming less valuable.

When we look around the landscape of the league, how many 21 year old guards were playing at an all-star level and leading their teams to the playoffs/championship? Maybe Ant is the only one I could think of, and he was already surrounded by All Star talent (Gobert/Kat) and vets himself. Most guys like Fox, SGA, Haliburton have entered their primes at 23/24 years old before impacting winning. We need JG to be successful if we truly want to be contenders in 2-3 years.
