When being asked in an interview, what he thinks is most important when he plays, David Oistrakh answered: "That the music goes straight from the heart of the composer into the heart of the listener". If you listen to him playing this piece of music, you probably will join me in my opinion?????

As soon as I first heard and saw him (Bach's double violin concerto with his son Igor), there was no other violinist for me. That concerto was recorded in Moscow, and I believe it was one of his last recordings. The last one was with him conducting Brahms, Symphony No. 2. I'm so pleased to hear others who also love him and his music. It was said about him: "To see him and to hear him, is to love him". What I've also learnt is: He was a modest, kindhearted (said to have had a Golden Heart) and unpretentious person. And the music he makes is with honesty and earnesty. Also as the human being he was, I admire him much. He also was giving concerts in here in Finland, in Helsinki. On one of his concerts he met Jean Sibelius, our great composer. I often listen to: * Sibelius: Violin Concerto - Oistrakh & Ormandy (1959) (RUclips: Decaulion Project). The very best version. My brother went to a concert in Helsinki in '70s - I envy him for that (I didn't live in Helsinki).
