Thanks for posting this. I had forgotten about F1’s first female driver, Maria Teresa de Philippis. While she had a short F1 career, in this race she outlasted Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, and Stirling Moss.
Wonderful period film, cheesy script beautifully delivered by biggles Baxter. What a circuit it was , and not bad lap times. Think the last run over the full circuit was the world sport car championship in 1973, Matra 670s and Ferrari 312 pb. I bet many of the current drivers would have loved the old circuit, thanks for this upload.
Wow, what a great time for this to pop up! On a fantastic Spa race weekend. Imagine for a moment if those racers could time travel to today's world, what they might think? Probably just as astounding as what we think while travelling back in time to theirs. Mostly what stuck out for me? Lady racer in 1958! that was great to see. So, remember that when someday you hear "Our first female F1 driver" that it was done long ago, before they were born.
And just one month earlier this track claimed the life of one of the greatest British drivers, Archie Scott Brown, a true unsung hero. His death at Blanchimont was the reason fellow Scot Jim Clark disliked Spa. It was Jim’s first race there.
Nice timing😁, the gp is this weekend
Thanks for putting this up just before the 2024 race.
Thank you for another gem from a legendary era.
The technology and safety for the drivers are outstanding 👍
Visited the race car museum at Spa last month. Amazing.

So cool, compared to today but also very deadly
Nice to revisit the Vans overcoming the best of Modena. The course was historic, vast and still somehow quaint..
Great post
AMAZING ❤
Great bit of history. Would love it if the audio had the noise removed.
We like to post our content exactly as an audience would have experienced it back in the day off a projector - warts and all!
How brave they were 🫢
Addictively beautiful, if there ever was anything ❤ ... hmm, another masterpiece in oils ... beam me back Scotty, please :)
