      So do I!!! Left in 1977 aged 7 but exactly how I remember it....Good times had every Summer...and back then, it seemed you got a "proper" Summer EVERY YEAR between May and September....Remember the plagues of Ladybirds in the Summer of '76 which absolutely covered EVERYTHING!!!

      Clive Clarke-Watson I remember that. One bedroom ceiling was black with them.

    My Dear old Grandad work behind the counter in the lifeboat house about that time, his name was George Jeffery.

    Wonderful that the Council have kept the old girl going: Fair play to them. I’m in Norfolk now but hoping to see the lovely new trains soon. Incredible that they’ve used the old trains as seating areas! Southend-on- Sea - still the place to be!

    The weed covered pilings don’t add much for stock sales..
