Soprano Choir Practice: " And He shall purify " , by George Frideric Handel, is from the first part of Handel’s Messiah (HWV 56). Part One concerns itself with the prophecy of the coming of the Messiah with the focus on the meaning of Advent and Christmas. To prepare for the Messiah, the chorus makes reference to Old Testament scripture from Malachi 3:3: " And He shall purify the sons of Levi, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness".
