Lyrics:
Who's on the seventh floor
Brewing alternatives
What's in the bottom drawer
Waiting for things to give
Spare us the cutter
Spare us the cutter
Couldn't cut the mustard
Conquering myself
Until I see another hurdle approaching
Say we can, say we will
Not just another drop in the ocean
Come to the free for all
With seven tapered knives
Some of them six feet tall
We will escape our lives
Spare us the cutter
Spare us the cutter
Couldn't cut the mustard
Conquering myself
Until I see another hurdle approaching
Say we can, say we will
Not just another drop in the ocean
Am I the happy loss
Will I still recoil
When the skin is lost
Am I the worthy cross
Will I still be soiled
When the dirt is off
Conquering myself
Until I see another hurdle approaching
Say we can, say we will
Not just another drop in the ocean
Ocean
Watch the fingers close
When the hands are cold
Am I the happy loss
Will I still recoil
When the skin is lost
Am I the worthy cross
Will I still be soiled
When the dirt is off
Am I the happy loss
Will I still be soiled
When the dirt is off
It's one of the greatest songs of the 80s and indie classic. Saw him the other night at kelvingrove stonking performance by Big Mac
Best song ever , the crowd are sleeping . If that was the Barrowlands in Glasgow the roof would be shaking . We love them 💛💛💛
You're so right about the crowd. A terrible crowd reaction to this brilliant bands music. C'mon people. WAKE UP!!!!!!
Totally agree friend...the crowd do not deserve to be in there....maybe are fans of the actual empty bands.
A lot of negativity in these comments. I think it sounds good. Time goes on and people age, get over it. Still an incredibly cool band.
true its doesnt sound as gd as in 80s but who does?
Great song, great performance. This song is 40 years old and their songs still sound great. Will Sergeant is a brilliant guitarist.
Good FUCKING grief. What a song. What a band
Luving this hot dude I’ve met several times and still am 37 years later!!!
I heard this song in a store the other day It sounded so good made my day So now here I am watching and listening to this video and still loving this song.from my teen years.
some of the best 80's lyrics written . and to be able to belt them out like this without missing a beat 30 years later is awesome.
I'd like to see anyone else 'conquer' this song other than Ian!! Can't be done. It's a serious demanding vocal to start!
Meravigliosi 👏👏👏
HOLY CRAP....that band....THAT VOICE.....What a super performance to an almost DEAD crowd (if i could only smell that place...maybe ALL WERE SO STONED(?) !
My best band ever..
I love this
Spare us the Qatar!
Brilliant!
Tears
Some Echo And The Bunnymen totally blurred, without strength, without life...without anything...What a shame....
To be fair to the band: The mix on this is terrible, it seems the sound was taken direct from the desk and the voice is far too loud compared to the instruments. Also, keyboard is missing (which they could've used for atmosphere and to play the middle eastern influenced lead instead of the guitar). Compare this performance with "Lips like sugar" on Later with Jools or their recent concert in Manchester (mid last yr) and you'll be able to tell they still have it.
The original had Shankar on the Violin playing the Indian riff.
It's a decent vocal performance
Sometimes I just want to unhear things and this is one of those occasions a shadow of their former selves..
Ian still singing!!!
Muito bom
Prefer this to the single
Pete must be laughing his arse off.
That fucking drummer! Pete DeFreitas was a monster on this track. This twat is playing like he's shit himself.
one of the most stunning songs of the last 30 years killed by its own fathers...time to give it a rest lads..
What the heck! Really, are they even trying
Cool AF song but what's it about? a guy on the 7th floor that's gonna slaughter the bunnymen?
Reasonable speculation is that it's about the butchering record companies do to artists, and the pain from having to compromise.
The sound is not the band, the weak sound and bad mixing is straight off the mixing deck. . Hence clear but
weak.
They removed the usual overwhelming reverb. Get over it.
I was at the much smaller Rusty Spurs gig that festival and I remember it being... significantly better than this.
The drummer is lacking proper timing. A real shame when you consider that you have the privilege to play with these legends. One of the worst drummers I‘ve ever heard. A shame😩
....?????? how long have you been drumming for...????
@@kindkidbk let‘s see. Started with 15. 44 now. So around 29 years. But that is not important. Keith Moon had a world career after 5 years of drumming. If its not the lack of timing and dynamics its maybe the kind of attitude and soul. But in this case its a combination of all I would say. But this is just my opinion.
@@ilikemusic76 Yeah and yet no one’s ever heard of you 😅😅😅😅
Go away, boomer.
And besides, who asked you?
No.
No. Just, no.
Worst. Crowd. Ever
Time to give in boys...I love this band and this song but that is shite.
