i actually really like this,i love this couple too! i hope they show more of them together in the new manga..i didnt read the old manga,just watched the anime series,an unless i missed somthing they really didnt get too close,i mean its obvious they like each other,but not much happened there lol..

The creators have made comments that Sakuno is Ryomas intended love interest in the manga and show. They just thought making them a couple would mess up Ryoma's character, bc he's got a one track mind that's focused on tennis at this time in his life. That's the only reason they didn't end up together.
