Radio Nasha celebrates 50 glorious years of the iconic film Deewaar with director Rajiv Rai (Son of Producer Gulshan Rai) along with RJ Divya Solgama. Rajiv spoke about how Deewaar idea was pitched by Salim Javed to his father in reference with Mother India and Ganga Jamuna.
He also spoke about the casting of Deewaar and how Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Nirupa Roy were selected. Rajiv spoke about the how actors like Rajesh Khanna, Waheeda Rehman, Vaijantimala were considered for this film. He spoke about Amitabh Bachchan's iconic costume and the issues related to the climax scene of the film.
Many more aspects were explored right from Parveen Babi's character to 100 weeks run in cinema hall along with its music by R.D Burman. He spoke about how Deewaar inspired many south Indian movies, including film of Rajnikant. Rajiv also shared about the English version of Deewaar and the possibility of making Deewaar in today's times with actors such as Shahukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.
