This is my 4th trip out with the camera this Autumn so i'm doing well and theres more to come! Typically I don't have a good time with autumn due to the weather always ruining my plans. This year tho, apart from not having the cold snap we need to give us lots of autumnal colour, there has been a few good days without wind and rain spoiling everything!
Id intended on doing a tips video but to be honest I don't enjoy doing them and find them 'cringey'.. so i thought id talk about why i think the polariser is the most powerful filter/tool you can have in your camera bag, but also that you need to be aware about potentially over using it too..
I hope you enjoy the vide! Im just thrilled I didn't crash my drone.. again! haha
Ga :-)
Another great vlog.... :-)... Very informative vlog Gareth some stunning photos... Looking forward for another adventure...maybe soon.... :-)
Hi Gareth, great video and looks like a fantastic location ............... Love that shot at 10.08 📷👍

Super inspired to jump in the car and head to Wales! Such beautiful images!
Great Video Gareth, thanks for posting. Awesome images.
Hey there thanks a lot. Appreciate the comment 😊
Thanks Gareth, brilliant photos... I need to go back there!!
Great work!
Thank you Darrel
Another great video Gareth. Impressed with your drone footage too over the waterfall. Your a braver man than me. Your video gives me inspiration to get out in a few weeks when not working. Keep them coming.
Gutted I couldn’t make it that day Ga, great video which brought back some great memories with Martin last autumn 🍂
Ahhhh yeah you suck! Haha. Was awesome mate. Next year then! 😊
@@GarethDanks 😂😂👊👊
Great video Gareth. Did exactly the same locations on my 50th in July 2019 , however it was poring with rain! Great locations an great walking to go with it.
What a lovely place to visit, along with a great of set images. Thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for watching Chris :-)
This is an excellent video.
I particularly like the deep dive analysis at the end. Your work is fantastic.
Hey dude. Thanks for watching haha. Means a lot mate
Great video Gareth, some of the best Autumn images that I've seen this year
oh wow thank you Richard!! very nice of you mate :-)
Bonnie shots Gareth, you're a real tonic for the spirit.
haha.. polite way of saying im a 'muppet' haha thanks mate! appreciate you watching :-)
It’s a way of saying your genuine warmth and enthusiasm are just what we need just now. Or maybe we just need more muppets 😃😃
More muppet!!! Haha. And thank you. I do appreciate that. 😊👍🏻
That was a cracking video Gareth. That's got to be a day out next year.
Class work as always my friend role on the next one. I love my extention tubes I would not leave home without them a simple bit of kit that can totally transform a image.
thanks so much mate! glad you enjoyed!! i need to do a shoot using just that tool.. forget to look for them shots
Some people struggle when they move from one discipline to another but you have done it very well. Very beautiful shots of our local waterfalls. You should do some more woodland and waterfall based photography :)
Great images Gareth really liking the in field vlog and then the image walk through. Good to see your thoughts and explanation of each of the images 👍
Thanks Chris. Very good to hear. Glad you enjoyed mate. I figure you don’t learn until you look at the end edits. 😊
A really enjoyable and informative vlog Gareth and some great images, looking forward to your vlog from ein... I mean the secret waterfall 😉
Ah hey Martin. Thanks for watching mate. I meant to ask you and itay for your pics too! Sorry. Hope your good mate. Give me a shout when your out next dude
@@GarethDanks Cheers Gareth, will do 👍
Awesome place and well explained
Some cracking images Gareth, I see Martin using spikes n his wellies, something I have not thought abt when wandering about the falls, good call. Not been to the falls this Autumn and was gutted to have missed the colour, glad to see someone got there. Atb Alan
Absolutely!! you def need to after your last 'trip' shocks me you hadnt been mate!
Lovely images Gareth 👍
Cheers mate. Appreciate you watching
Great Vlog as always Gareth super images, last time I was in the Beacons it rained for the hole week, that was 2 years ago so I’m due a trip back at some time.
Wow that's a stunning location Gareth. Beautiful images. The polariser is a great tool and I feel not only does it soften glare but it pops the colours at the same time. Love it. 👍🤘
Love that place. Bet you never see my videos from there and love the video of you under the falls.
Good video Gareth. One request, i would recommended making the white border. You put on the images you show. A little smaller, personally i think its too large.
Thanks for the tip! ill do that.. are you watching on phone or tv? it looks small when i edit it on the laptop..
@@GarethDanks Hi Gareth, on my PC desktop
Hmmm same as me I guess then. Ok I’ll give it some thought. Thanks for the feedback mate
I would say go much larger on the border - or smaller. I can see what Allan is saying, it's inbetween. Either way some lovely shots, I do love the Brecon Beacons. I must get back there. And the 16 f1.4 is like having a macro lens too. Amazing lens.
of course the leaf landed on that rock naturally, I believe you. 🤣 Kenko do a set of three extension, they tubes work well for me. Some really nice photos. and handy tips. 👍👍👍
Haha HONESTLY 😂 I know a lot place the leaves. I do too if needs be haha. This one was a gift tho 😂
Good photography ciao .
Thank you Luciano 😊
Nice video mate, feel your pain about the out of focus leaf shot, you'll have to go back 👍
Yeah mate. It’s ridiculous. If it was a one off I’d think human error.. 👍🏻
Stunning location Gareth. The images are really good. You said the images are a bit soft/unsharp in the edges. But on screen it is not noticable. I'm looking forward to your next video and the secret location.
Then another question. When you do streetphotography you use a backbutton focus. Are you using this also with landscapephotography?
As far as the focus issue, perhaps your polarizer is adding some diffusion......dono, just a thought. The focus peaking on my X-E3 def gets confused when I use a Pro-Mist filter.
no it does it with out too.. good thought tho! tempted to try the zeiss
Just ordered polarisers. The third worked. The first one was a Hoya (77mm) for 50 bucks. It didn't do anything than darken the picture. And it was stuck in my step-up-ring. Could loosen it with rubber gloves. The second was a cheap one (I had luck with cheap ones before) for 14 bucks by K&F. It also didn't work. Had sort of stains. The third one for 40 bucks reduced by Rollei was fine then...
interesting the Hoya didnt work.. normally pretty good.. Rollie are making a comeback it seems haha
Sir I Really Enjoyed the Working every thing Was Just Awesome Specially When You Was Standing Under the Water fall 😉😉😉 Awesome Awesome ❤😍
Who is your printer for your community book? Thank you
Do you remember what shutter speed you were shooting at? I thought it looked like 5 seconds, but wasn't sure. Would an ND filter work shooting water falls? Or is that something you can skip and just use the polarizer? I received an adjustable polarizer and ND filter for Christmas so have just started to experiment with them.
How’s xt3 in low light?
focusing or iso?

Great for crop sensor up to 6400. Tho I wouldn’t touch shadows then. 😊
@@GarethDanks okay thanks 😊
Soft images !....that’s what you get with adobe trying to process Fujifilm Gareth I’m sorry to say....I’ve developed in lightroom for 2 years now and it’s rubbish for the Fuji trans sensor .....Capture one will knock it out the park and give you the clean sharp images you need 🙂 ... Try those images in Capture One express free version, to see what I mean 👍
I 100% agree mate. And I have c1. But I find it far more difficult to get the same edits. Lr takes me 30 secs. C1 far longer. I need to set it up so it looks like lightroom too. Also it doesn’t do focus stacking and panos does it?
@@GarethDanks I only have the free version, so not sure about focus stacking etc if you get the full version. I’ve only been using C1 express for a couple of months, but my photos are transformed. I do some editing in lightroom and then send it to C1 for the sharpening. Works for me, but the process is a bit longer !
Oh I see.. that’s a good idea. As a tiff?
@@GarethDanks yep 👍
