I heard this on some Saturday morning show in ‘81 when it first came out. I was so wowed, but all I could remember was that she was some rocker’s daughter and the melody! So I desperately listened to Radio 1 all week (school holidays). This was before MTV, Google, and the internet- no chance of trying to find it. However my persistence when, from the garden I heard the tune and rushed into the house in time to bop along and hear it was the wonderful Kim Wilde. Been wowed by it ever since 🎉👏🏿
@@rideontimejapan We have nowadays great female Singers too. But Kim ist fantastic, no Question. I love the Music of the 80´s, it was a very broad and unique one with great Hits that never going "old".
And it reached number two in the charts, behind Shakin' Stevens' This Ole House of course at the time too, from what I remember so of course too. Thank you there too!
@@tallisinwonderland4724 Plus these songs sound WONDERFUL with a full orchestra! They should release it on cd at least, or even dvd... all of the fans of these artists would love to have this!
Wow! I was 11 years old when this song hit the U.S. in 1982, and I liked it okay. But I *LOVE* this version. Amazing. Could see this being used as an epic action finale in Stranger Things.
imagine getting all the great bands from the 80's-90's and having them in a show where each band performs their best hit ,what an awesome show that would ever be
@ARCSTREAMS They have this show for old dinosaurs like you!! It's called Cruel World and you missed the 2023 show in LA, but they will probably do it again in 2024.
Wow absolutely fantstic, so much energy. Love the orchestral element, sounded like Kim Wilde meets Guardians of the Galaxy. Bloody brilliant. Was that Kims daughter singing with her?
Any chance of an album!!! One of my favourites . First time I heard this was a Saturday night at the roller disco with the family. I must have been 9 or 10. Nice one
Triumphant! That's her brother playing the guitar, right? The actual writer of the song? I remember vividly when the vid of this song hit the airwaves.. Everyone's breath was taken away for a fist-full of glorious minutes. as a Brit-kid living in America, I couldn't be more proud.
Looking out a dirty old window Down below the cars in the city go rushing by I sit here alone and I wonder why Friday night and everyone's moving I can feel the heat but it's soothing, heading down I search for the beat in this dirty town Downtown the young ones are going Downtown the young ones are growing We're the kids in America (Whoa) We're the kids in America (Whoa) Everybody live for the music-go-round Bright lights, the music gets faster Look, boy, don't check on your watch, not another glance I'm not leaving now, honey, not a chance Hot-shot, give me no problems Much later, baby, you'll be saying nevermind You know life is cruel, life is never kind Kind hearts don't make a new story Kind hearts don't grab any glory We're the kids in America (Whoa) We're the kids in America (Whoa) Everybody live for the music-go-round La la la la-la la-a La la la la-la la (Sing) La la la la-la la-a La la la la-la la Come closer, honey, that's better Got to get a brand new experience, feeling right Oh, don't try to stop, baby, hold me tight Outside a new day is dawning Outside suburbia's sprawling everywhere I don't want to go, baby New York to east California There's a new wave coming, I warn ya We're the kids in America (Whoa) We're the kids in America (Whoa) Everybody lives for the music-go-round La la la la-la la-a La la la la-la la (Sing) La la la la-la la-a La la la la-la la We're the kids We're the kids We're the kids in America We're the kids We're the kids We're the kids in America We're the kids We're the kids We're the kids in America
Love the pit dolly. Hand held in orch looks good. Stage right cam op is way too tight. Two looks at the back of a violin' player's head with a yellow headband taking up the majority of the frame should not have made the edit. Next time to tell the cam op to "DFI" (aka Different Fookin' Idea") because the back of heads is a useless shot. The wide shots from the back of the orchestra are excellent. Good use of wide lenses.Espec with crowd reaction. The audio mix is superb. Does the artist and the orchestra justice.
I still remember watching this when I was 16. Who would have thought I'd be watching it on a computer 40 years later lol.
You got a timemachine? Or did this happen in last 2 years?!
Who still uses a computer lol
When i see the state of things now, i was so lucky to have been part of 80's 👌
Same here bud!!!🤘
You mean Britain under Thatcher? Give me now thank you.
me too
This arrangement with an orchestra is a real energy bomb. Fantastic performances
Watching this made me very happy. Takes me back to 1st year at school. I miss the eighties, so many good times. This performance was outstanding.
I wasn't alive in the 80s but love kim wilde
Kim Wilde is CLASS!!!
She's still got it at 62!!
The era of the decent music which still to this day gets everyone up and cheering, singing and dancing along!
What a fantastic arrangement, brilliant.

She has NOT lost it. All the way from australia. 😀🙋👍❤
She still has a great voice.
Kim can still sing. No over the top (old-ass) madonna moves. Well Done!
The music is what counts!
Cheers!
and sing better than nowadays female singers

One of the best songs of the 80s!
Wow wow wow ! I wish i had half her energy!
I hope y'all put this on Spotify sometime 🙏
I think the real reason I miss the 90’s is because that’s when I had most of my memorable youth but the 80’s where still fresh.
Kim and Ricky created a song that became the anthem of pop music of the 80s ✌
Her first-and best? hit tune by far really. From early 1981, still as good today too! Thank you of course.
And it reached number two in the charts, behind Shakin' Stevens' This Ole House of course at the time too, from what I remember so of course too. Thank you there too!
Talk about an electrifying performance!
WOW!
このアレンジは最高傑作ですね。超かっこいいし幸せな気持ちになりました。
We all should write an Email to Kim for a full concert of her again. I would pay and travel a lot for that.
Still rockin' it at 63! Kim Wilde is a legend!
Yup, I was a kid in America! I miss the music of that time.

This should be released on cd! I know Kim only sang a few songs , but these orchestra versions would be great for all the artists participated!
I so wish they would, so many people don’t realise this is an event and everyone I’ve ever shown the videos to, love them!

She doesn't age she sounds almost the exact same she has live since 1981 if not more confident.
She still sounds amazing!
Brilliant..just Brilliant..
All so amazing!!! Please come and tour Australia!!!!
I would love to hear the orchestral version of Wide boy of Nik Kershaw in RUclips or in the next volume of 80s Classical album.
Wow! I was 11 years old when this song hit the U.S. in 1982, and I liked it okay. But I *LOVE* this version. Amazing. Could see this being used as an epic action finale in Stranger Things.

This song was one that lifted my spirits as I lay in a spinal injuries unit in '81. 41 years later I still love it!
Wow absolutely fantstic, so much energy. Love the orchestral element, sounded like Kim Wilde meets Guardians of the Galaxy. Bloody brilliant. Was that Kims daughter singing with her?
Scarlet Wilde her niece apparently
En philarmonique c'est grandiose ❤

Time and time again having a rock band supported by an orchestra behind them works. All the way from deep Purple in the 70s and onwards.

I’d love to see her do Never Trust A Stranger now.
Sigue con la misma voz ❤️😘
Voice sounds the same and great with the orchestra behind her
wow
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yes. The 80's. The 2020's suck.
Most attractive woman on that stage! In more ways than one!
Damn she got a voice still
Better than the original
I think I just “Came”
Check out her album “here come the aliens”…. Very retro pop tastic
