I remember it well, at the end of the official races they invited the spectators to race their own road cars 😱over a few laps with something like a gash socket set for first prize 😂 what you can’t see from the cameras viewpoint is the rickety old stand . Thanks for posting. Mon the Well😍

This takes me back ! Happy memories. I used to race at Motherwell for quite a few years until it folded in 1977 / 78 (I think it was). I was number 20 and originally raced a Riley 1500 until it was demolished and I then bought a ready built Ford Mexico from the Paterson brothers who were from Larkhall. Got quite a few years out of the old Mexico. Oh happy days !

Ian , familiar name ! Got a progamme from 25th June 1972 with a list of drivers against their numbers yepp there you are just below Ian Ostrau with whom I had regular neck and necks ! And I will always remember 'Kit' Carson as a character ! Can't remember him ever finishing a race :-)

I used to go there with my papa every week, I still stay round the corner from there and my kids are sick of me telling them there used to be a stockcar stadium there. I also saw speedway there once and am now a speedway lover. I used to love the yellow ford Anglia that raced there. Thanks for the memories.

Brilliant footage from a time when England had direction, its own voice, and meaning. Thanks for posting. Love it 😆👍 As a boy we went Stock Car Racing most weekends, various venues, some great times, and some real characters.

I used to play on the football park in 1973 with North motherwell boys club. That was our home ground. Lots of great memories there 😁👍

Great memories here I raced at the stadium for years, Started with bangers ended up with hot rod (mini) no way would they let this happen now H&S the bangers did not have a roll cage or any other protection, all glass removed stuck on a crash helmet and raced absolutely amazing I lived for Sunday’s thanks for posting video great memories.

Great footage! Thanks. Although I wasn't born until 1981, I lived near 'The Stady' so nice to see footage of what it was like. Cheers.

Yepp good memories, I used to live on the top floor of Brandon Court with my folks and could see the Stadium clearly from there! .. my dad(RIP) was my mechanic and enjoyed it as much as I did. The only Anglia driver and other 'red-top 'that I used to have frequent head to heads with was I think an Ian Ostreau .. I have an old programme somewhere must have a look.. glad it brought back memories , don't think it would get by the Health an Safety police these days what with wheels flying off etc

Now you're talking names from the past. Unfortunately my better half threw out all my old programmes so I've got nothing to look back on. Don't know if I could do it now, don't think the old back would hold out for more than one lap !

Does anyone remember the club The Gay Gordons. ? Eddie Kidd doing a show on the track ? The trotting ? I'm sure the folk that ran the track were the Kennedys.
