Jakarta's population is large, 10 million people live in a narrow area of the capital, and one person owns a motorbike or car, therefore roads in Jakarta are made bigger and are very good for transportation.
Manila is amazing city from urban planning perspective. it has many modern skyscraper and big streets. but Jakarta is bigger and more populated city than manila. if you compare both in way of skyrise, landmark, and facility Jakarta is one step forward than Manila. Manila is cool city and I want to visit it soon. People of philipino is gorgeous love them warm greets from Indonesia
Jakarta obviously wins. Looks more neat with wide roads n sidewalks, well organized, suistainable n integrated transporatation system, n also the buildings in Jakarta r more glassy, futuristic n iconic. Look at this 1:20, 2:00, 2:46, 3:26, 4:44, 5:47, 6:44
Only half of Jakarta's residents even have piped water. So please don't tell us about infrastructure. Water is the MOST ESSENTIAL infrastructure need. Jakarta builds huge highways and skyscrapers on top of sinking land. It's the fastest sinking city on the planet because half the population has to drill for their own water, which causes the ground to sink. BGC alone is a better business district than all of Jakarta combined. It's twice the size of SCBD and MK combined. And not only that, it's built for people, not cars. There's no huge highway running through BGC. The middle of BGC is a long pedestrian stretch, Bonifacio High Street. BGC is best seen by walking, not by car. People actually go there to hang out OUTSIDE, not inside a mall. SCBD and MK are only busy with pedestrian activity when people are going to and from work. The only place where people hang out for leisure is inside the indoor mall. BGC is an urban district. SCBD and MK are just places for work
@@marimar3161 lol, stop dragging sinking issue in fact, in the end, almost every cities around the world will be underwater but some Mega Cities are sinking faster such as Jakarta Manila Venice Florida Amsterdam n Bangkok. @@marimar3161 sadly, the infrastructure in Manila's cbds are not good. Many people go outside but they enjoying bad infra. While in Jakarta our government has made Jakarta became a liveable city for the community. More sidewalks, more parks, more bike lanes more tourist spots eventho basicly Jakarta is not a tourism city.
@@adylylylylylylyly1848 The infrastructure in Jakarta is mainly about moving cars. The city still has not provided the basic infrastructure of providing water to most of its citizens. That's the difference between Jakarta and most other cities. Less than half of Jakarta has piped water. In Manila, the Western Zone, 84% of people have 24 hour access to piped water. In the Eastern Zone, 99% of residents have 24 hour access to piped water. Meanwhile, in Jakarta, half the population has to drill for their own water. Even some skyscrapers in Central Jakarta have been caught illegally drilling for water.
@@marimar3161 dude, i have never been heard nor read something about ur piped-water-thingy whatever problems since im on senior high school 😅 stop dragging it bcos i don't familiar about it anymore. Our major problems in Jakarta r traffic jam (Eventho we only rank 46 in congested n traffic jam index) n singking issue (this is naturally bcos of the climate change threats). N also, since 2018 we r not longer a car centric city, but pedestrian centric. That's why our gov recently more focus on developing our integrated transporatation system that can easily connects the pedestrians/cyclists with trains (KRL, MRT, LRT), n BRT (we have the longest BRT System in the world, the first in Asia).

Not really.

Haha, as a Jakarta native that statement is ironic to hear. The video only shows a tiny part of Central and South Jakarta which is the most planned and most developed part of the city. Stray away a little from the whole area and you'll see how poor Jakarta's urban planning actually is, and how disorderly the traffic actually is.
Assigned in Jakarta for more than 6 years, Jokowi did a lot in modernizing Jakarta, both transport and horizontal infrastructure. However, the design layout of CBDs in Jakarta is not ideal, too small. But I'm impressed with the captivating and mesmerizing glass towers of SCBD and Kuningan. The five main CBDs in Manila have proper design layouts like Makati CBD, BGC, Ortigas Center, Bay Area (huge casinos and malls), and Alabang CBD (lush trees). Both cities are doing well and congrats to the leadership of both countries. Way to go!
@Dennis Ulysses the CBD's in Manila has different vibes when you're there. I think BGC and Makati has more of like the New York and California vibe, the one in Taguig where you have the Venice canal mall and the Eastwood has the european vibe. The Bay area where you have the Ocada hotel and casino, The Mall of Asia and the restos beside the bay the feels of Sydney harbor. Yes but both countries are growing.
Jokowi started MRT after several delays.. But he was only in Jakarta for a while.. Meanwhile, what revitalized BRT, modernizing Jakarta, as well as Sudirman Thamrin area, is the current governor of Jakarta.. Anies R. Baswedan... In his era, Jakarta won the Sustainable Transport Award two years in a row.. 🙏
