I actually really agree with your opinions here! I don’t think Seventeen’s songs are “deep” because they’re so direct, but they are definitely good songs and still well written and very catchy (good job Woozi and Bumzu!!)
Another reason why I stan them is because of how genuinely good and nice they are, and it made me super happy that you guys saw that too when you met Hoshi, Vernon, Joshua and Jeonghan.
I've loved Seventeen since debut. I saw them live a year ago. Amazing show. Even better, the following day while me and my daughter were waiting for our plane. They sat next to us. They are very sweet

Seventeen going with minimalist music after Ikon and Pentagon 😍 I love their music, but more their dance. In this video I liked the last bit of dance where they're in the cross like formation. Well you get the gist of it 😁

When Danny said that seventeen's songs don't touch him I was like "????? How?????". Their songs always make me cry Lmao not because of the meaning, but the feelings I get from their songs is always so good, it makes me feel at ease, their songs have a happy feeling, like a childlike happiness that is really touching for me, makes me wanna live life in the best and most youthful way possible.
Isadora Soares i totally agree. im older than their age demographic, but i think they have a very passionate energy that transcends lyrics or language. it’s the feeling you get when you watch someone do something they’re masterful at, but also love wholeheartedly.

i’m a gay dude and love svt’s music ..their songs have become more gender neutral and i’m very appreciative. this cb is so good and the lyrics have been stuck in my head since it came out! the rest of the album doesn’t disappoint too!

Dramamamashakalaka * i dont think they meant that love is just for teen girls or means that they havent found someone thst makes them feel that way. They are talking about the korean lyrics and how it seens more for teens which is true. In western pop this also happens, One direction, disney artists songs were always considered for "teens" because the way the lyrics were written. I think it's a similar case here.
You are right! while other groups use more metaphorical lyrics, Seventeen are more direct but I didnt asocciate it with their target audience and it makes sense now! 😱 I really like how you explain the lyrics and your point of view; this position gives me a wider perspective of being able to see both sides, fans and general public.
heyitsrosie Indeed, their target audience has been between 10-20 ever since their debut. Teens even more! Don't Wanna Cry was, as far as I remember the song that gae them the majority of their male fandom, both internationally and in Korea. Internationally, the sog and style was more mature and all. In KR, I saw a lot of boys saying they could relate to the lyrics. So it's always interestig to me to see male koreans talkig about their views on Seventeen.
heyitsmira I'm a bit confused tho, their target audience is pretty much teens but Seventeen is eager to break into the general public and keep going trendy but they are still releasing songs that are obviously targeted to a certain audience...?
hi actually, there’s a story behind this. from adore u to thanks, they were an era. where they fell in love in adore u and broke up in don’t wanna cry, and said let’s just enjoy life in clap and finally thanks that person for the break up in thanks. oh my actually a new love song where they fall in love with somebody new. they start from a very cheerful song and finish with a very sad one in one era. so its not really about target audience. more to like how love works. btw if you listen to their full albums such as songs from hip hop unit, maybe you’ll understand them more.
heyitsrosie it all goes down to the style, rather than lyrics. It's not like Seventeen has childish lyrics, they are just lyrics that teens can relate to more. Ofc the lyrics change depending on the comeback, and even depending on the unit (which is why they perform as units as much as possible in year-end shows). Hiphop has more relatable lyrics for everyone about struggles, Vocal has romantic & emotional songs, Popo has songs focused on beat and choreo rather than lyrics, but recently they've been more on the sexy side. BooSeokSoon is the closest to a funny type that general public really likes. But what makes the public get on with their songs is the style rather than lyrics. Aju Nice has simple lyrics, but it trended a lot in Korea at the time. Mansae as well. DWC and Pretty U went for boys/girls, Thanks was very fan-oriented, and now Oh My, while very cattered to their early audience who has been craving for softer vobes since their debut and Pretty U, is also good for general public. This style, almost r&b like, does well on charts, and they've been doing real well there so far
Ell Hansel they built the story based on the song they made. The first stage is creating a song (that will have its own style, genre etc), then if it is accepted by the company, they work on the lyrics (and then Woozi selects a theme for it), and then recording/post-production. The songs are not made to fit the concept. They just connect it through certain lyrics, but the way the lyrics are worded and the genre/style of the song affect how the public will receive it.

I love that the rap line got so many lines + screentime in this comeback, I felt that Mingyu really shined in this MV! Also... CHINA LINE GOT LINES OMG! I felt like this MV was much more for the fans than trying to make catchy popular song. They experimented and while it not be my fav from them, I’m so happy to see them grow as artists ❤️

When Seventeen met an astrologer early in their career, he advised them to stick to the fun/boyish concept for as long as they can and not to rush into dark concepts. I personally agree with that. Fun 17 is the best 17. Not everybody has to be all sweg/hep hap to make good music

Their b-sides touch up on more pain/hope/healing, so I'd definitely recommend you guys listen to these! Idk how else you meant by touching, but these have helped me feel like they know my pain/they know we have bad days so they've made songs that's saying that they're there for me. * Honorable mentions are Vernon's mixtape called "Lizzie Velasquez" and his raps in his OST with Pristin Eunwoo called "Sickness" for a Korean webtoon 'Love Revolution'. Tbh, Vernon's lyrics in general are GREAT. Even as a Wonwoo stan hehe
ALSO, although their older songs were targeting mainly girls, it seems like they ARE making their songs a bit more gender neutral for these past 2-3 albums. In the recent eras, they've also gained quite a few older fans because they went on radios and they were like 'there are fans who are in their 30s and 40s who support Seventeen too'. Generally though, Seventeen's music still does mostly attract the younger generation. It's okay though because the type of music that they do still is the one that fits them most (imo). Energetic, youthful, a little cute. May not be for you guys, I understand LMAO

i agree with a lot of your comments as a carat! however they do have "deep" lyrics in their side tracks, like 이놈의 인기, 글쎄, trauma and much more!! they have a lot of sad songs that are actually based on what they fight abt etc.. and i really reccommend their winter album, going seventeen and habit. also most of their songs are very heart-wrenching + sad and also a lot ate gender-neutral!! they have a handful of fanboys
