    Hi Alex, thanks so much for this video.
    I managed to get my Xone 23c mixer connected and have been really enjoying getting into using timecode vinyl! I have a couple of queries I hope you can help with?
    1. There is a very quiet but very high pitched frequency present which goes quieter but does not go away completely when I turn the input levels down on my mixer Is there a way to get rid of this completely?
    2. When I switch to Live input and choose to play normal vinyl record, the sound levels are all over the place and im having a hard time getting them to match. Any tips?
    3. Any advice on how to record a set? When I had the first Traktor there was a record button which was really convenient. I was maybe going to use Audacity but am not too confident with getting the levels to sound right, I have tried and it has been a bit tinny.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

      Hi Marc,
      Thanks for the message.
      1, Please ensure that the phono input level for 1 & 3 are turned down (off) when using DVS.
      2, Use the above-mentioned control for adjusting the “gain” when using actual vinyl. And use the level control in the software adjust the gain of the computer playback.
      3, As you have converted the mixer USB channels to USB. You will no longer be able to use the USB for recording. You can, however, now use the RCA record output, So long as your computer internal sound card has a line input. If so, you can run to the record to third-party software running in the background (such as Audacity). Or If on Mac you can set up an aggregate device and route back in to Traktor as the additional I/O will be available in the aggregate device.
      Best regards,
      Luke

      Hello Dávid,
      Thanks for the message,
      Please note: On Monterey, the 23C must run as a Core-audio device. This means that no driver installation is required.
      If you have installed the driver then we need to give you explicit instruction on how to remove them manually, so the 23C will run on Core-audio. For further assistance, please drop us a line to support@allen-heath.com

    Hi, I have a problem where the sound card is freezing as soon as it tries to play audio out of traktor. It can read the timecodes fine but will stop working when the playhead hits the waveform. The Traktor interface can still be used so I'm thinking it's a sound card issue. Any ideas?

      Hi,
      please ensure that you have the correct driver installed in accordance with the OS you are running, all driver versions are available from our website.
      Further to that, if you were running an older driver on a previous OS, please make sure the other driver was removed before installing the updated version.
      Finally, I would check the soundcard buffer and sample rate settings in Traktor. This is to make sure you are not causing the hardware/software to run ineffectively.

    Is it possible to control the input gain for the signal that comes from Traktor? I see that input gain 1 and 3 control the volume from the turntables, but the signal from Traktor is only affected by the faders. This is not very handy for actual mixing :|

      Hi,
      Sorry for the late reply on this one!
      When using the Xone:23C with DVS, you need to set the gain level within the software. To do this please make sure Traktor’s Layout is set to “mixer” this will give you access to the gain level control for each deck.

    Thanks for assistance in previous question, I am all set up now :). I have another question, Can you record your mix internally on traktor pro 3? and if yes how?

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  3 года назад +1

      Hi Mirna,
      Sorry for the late reply.
      By default, the Xone:23C routes the FX and Record bus on USB pairs 1&2/3&4. Once the DVS jumper cables have been fitted, this changes the default USB routing to manage the DVS signal instead. It is therefore, not possible to record via USB when the DVS jumpers are fitted!
      In this instance, you will need to use the RCA record out on the rear of the mixer into a third-party or internal computer interface. For recording direct into Traktor, the interface would then need to be aggregated with the 23C SC. Or alternatively you can use third-party software.
      I hope this helps!
      Best regards,
      Luke

    @xonedjofficial Can you help please? I have been using DVS with my 23C mixer with Traktor (on Mac) and a NI Audio 4 soundcard. This weekend I decided to do this mod so I could remove the Audio 4 to streamline my set up.
    All seems to be working fine, however the output light indicators both in onscreen in Traktor and on my physical 23C mixer are redlining. As im using DVS my gain knobs on the 23C are set to 0 so the timecode tone isnt audible, so the only control I have is to not put my faders all the way up, which is a real pain.
    Do i need to tweak any headroom settings within Traktor to fix this? If so do you have any recommended advice / settings to change?

      No, there is no jumper mod require on the 43C. Simply make sure that the input switch is set to PH on each of the socket that the turntable are connected to. These are located on the rear of the mixer. Then the input source select needs to be set to USB.

    Hey guys this helped me get inside the box to do the mod where you turn the phono level inputs to line level(as per the manual on pg 18) removing the resistors worked but the signals are definitely quieter than the built in line levels.. is this expected? Also whats the unused big rectangle plug? It has jtag/debug written on one side and “male” written on the other side of the socket. Thanks A&H love your gear!

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  3 года назад

      Hi Aaron,
      Thanks for the message,
      The resistor mod simply deactivates the RIAA filter, but the signal still passes through the phono op-amp. So, having slightly different topology, one would expect some difference.
      I think if the channel is proving to run at line-level you should be able to achieve a healthy signal with the input gain control.
      FYI the JTAG socket is for in-house programming.

    Is it possible to mix regular vinyl records and timecoded DVS on xone23c at the same time? • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  7 месяцев назад

      The RIAA is not converted when the DVS jumpers are applied.
      With the DVS jumpers in place, it is possible to play a mixture of regular vinyl and DVS. As the USB return feeds back post mixer gain-stage, you simply need to keep the gains down when mixing DVS, then use/turn up the gains when you want to play regular vinyl.
      FYI; the DVS gain, therefore, needs to be established with the software soft-gain controls.
      I hope this helps!

But thinking of changing to just Xone 23C because the soundcard of the Scratch A6 makes my analogue vinyl sound like trash in Direct THRU mode - in comparision to the turntable connected to the mixer only. Hi Mattis,
      Thanks for the message.
      The Xone:23C does not operate the same as third-party DVS interfaces When switching between playing regular vinyl, the 23C passes the phono signal direct to the channel pre-amp avoiding any thu mode or digital conversion. This means the signal stays analogue through the whole signal path.

      Thanks for the message,
      The short answer is yes! The USB playback for the computer comes in on the mixer post gain (level). The Gain therefore need to be set in the software for USB playback. Furthermore, you need to ensure the gain turned down (off), to stop the DVS tone from being audible when using DVS. Then, when you want to simply play regular vinyl, you would manage the playback to normal way.
      I hope this helps!
      Best regards,
      Luke

    Nobody said anything about this when I just purchased the 23C and Traktor today. Is this why it's not calibrating and I'm getting a whistle sound because the red cords are not attached? Why wasn't this done in manufacture out of curiosity and will mixer still work normal with standard vinyl after doing this?
    Thanks

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  2 года назад

      Hi Peter,
      Thanks for the message.
      By default, the 23C ships without the DVS option fitted and the USB routes the FX and Record buses upstream to a host computer. With the jumpers fitted, this reconfigures the routing for DVS of the mixer input connectors.
      Furthermore, with the DVS jumpers fitted it will still be possible to mix regular vinyl. This means you can go between DVS and vinyl playback seamlessly.
      I hope this helps!
      Cheers,
      Luke

    Output deck A is set to L: Front Left and R: front right
    Output deck B is set to L: Xone 23 cout 2 R: Xone 23c out 3.

    Does this work with Rekordbox DVS if I buy a license from them? I own technics turntables and mix a lot of vinyl at home but I dj digitally in clubs and bars regularly using a USB formatted with Rekordbox. I'm thinking of using a Xone 23C and Rekordbox DVS so at home I can easily mix between vinyl and rekordbox digital files. Then when I go out to play gigs I can take my USB.
    On a side note, I wish pioneer would create a mixer with a screen like on their CDJs and XDJs so I can turn up to the club with a USB and 2 time code records and play my digital files on the turntables with DVS and no need for a laptop.

      With the DVS jumper cables fitted, the 23C USB interface will no longer route the record output bus on USB sends 1&2, as these have now been reconfigured to work straight often phono inputs (for DVS).
      The option of using the RCA record output should work just fine. Please bear in mind that the computer internal soundcard may be seeing the socket as a mic level device rather than line-level.

      Hi Vinyl Masta,
      There is no need to remove the DVS cables in order to play Vinyl. You can either simply turn up the Phono level control on the 23C, this will then play directly into the mixer form the turntable. Alternatively, you can use “live input” mode in Traktor, this will then pass the Audio through, with gain adjustments being made in the software.

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  2 месяца назад +1

      With the DVS jumpers in place, it is possible to play a mixture of regular vinyl and DVS. As the USB return feeds back post mixer gain-stage, you simply need to keep the gains down when mixing DVS, then use/turn up the gains when you want to play regular vinyl.
      FYI; the DVS gain needs to be established with the software soft-gain controls.

      Hello David,
      On the PX5 there is an option to set the FX send to work, pre or post fade with the “send” switch that is located to the top right side of the mixer.
      Pre-fade (fader down)
      Post fade (fader up)
      You will need to have the FX in Traktor set to send mode with the software and mixer also configured correctly.

    Hey Guys - I recently moved to Mac and am now having routing issues. Was working fine as a USB standalone with TP3 and Windows. Now moving to Mac I can't assign channels to input/output routing as a standalone USB since its CoreAudio compliant there aren't specific drivers available from the website - can only get both channels through Ch1. Will an ASIO driver work on Mac? Or do I have to install the jumper leads in order to route the channels correctly and thus converting to DVS (not be able to use it standalone USB in the process)?? Seems really clunky overall for something that should be plug'n'play - I'd like to switch between DVS and USB without having to change jumper leads or buy another soundcard....

    • @xonedjofficial
      @xonedjofficial  3 года назад

      Hi MrTinks,
      Thanks for the message.
      23C is Core-compliant. There is no need for drivers. And it does simply work straight out the box.
      Please ensure that Traktor’s routing is set to ‘external mode’. This will give you the option to route to each of the channels on 23C.
      The 23C outputs will labelled as follows.
      1,Front left
      2,Front Rigtht
      3,Front centre
      4,Low frequency effects
      The first (top) pair are the left and right for 23C CH1, whereas the bottom two pair are for 23C CH2.
      The DVS jumpers are for configuring the USB sends (from mixer). This changes them from the FX and record sends to instead route DVS straight off the mixer’s input connectors. This has nothing to do with the input routing (from computer).
      If you require further assistance past this, please drop us a line via our support ticket system.

      @xonedjofficial  3 года назад

      That’s great. I’m glad to hear the USB routing is now sorted!
      With regards to the DVS, the jumpers solely reconfigure the USB sends (from mixer). The default setting of these sends is to route the Record and FX send buses. The USB returns (audio from computer) and the MIDI over X:Liink will be unaffected by this mod.
      I hope this helps!
