My father left when I was 5. When Scott said "doesn't anyone one know what its like being abandoned" that hit real hard. Love this show
The only problem with that is there was an episode in the original series where Corsair returns to Earth and explains to Scott why he couldn’t come back for him. Then the two of them were cool. Seems the writers forgot about that. Very minor point, but it bugs me 😂
Too bad he abandoned his responsibility to be the leader of his own family and the one to give the baby to bishop in an honorable way instead he stormed off like a child. This is probably why professor x chose magneto to lead the X-men.
I grew up with mine but that definitely was a heartfelt moment, I could empathize with his pain and anger they did that well.
To which he promptly said he couldn't be a part of this and then...abandoned his family lol
@@dannyt9744I mean for most of his life he was abandoned it was till his later years he found out the truth so he still experienced abandonment all those years.
Really like how morph is being treated like an actual character instead of a one - off to be killed like in the original im already pumped for the impending showdown with sinister.
He was a character in original show. Sinister brought him back to life and brainwashed him to try and kill the X-Men.
@@camerondalton1495 He's referring to the fact that Morph was included as a throwaway character in the initial series.
He was repurposed from his appearances in the 60's comics where he was originally known as "Changeling" so that they could kill him instead of Thunderbird as the initial episodes follow the same general story pattern where an X-Man dies early in the run.
That and they thought killing one of the few POC characters in the opening episode was too gauche for a series in the 90's.
Him being present in the last episode of the '92 series set them up to bring him back as a full time cast member to be more fully fleshed out. It's just that he was pretty much irrelevant to the larger series whereas in this one it's clear he's intended to be a real cast member.

He's *technically* in 9 episodes.
In season 4 he gets the only episode in the series dedicated to him in any way beyond a motivation for other characters to do things.
He gets a single episode of character development in 76 episodes and at the end of that he leaves the X-Men due to PTSD.
I don't understand why people think Morph was ever main cast in the original series.

The most interesting Easter egg in this episode was when Madelyne was sitting on the throne and had a Sharon Stone moment. The scene that made her famous. I couldn’t believe they pulled that on the X-men. If you know, you know.
I loved how Jean looked like an Angel as she was over the hellscape in a white robe with blue light

As a lifetime X-fan, this episode was everything and more for me in terms of some of my favorite stories

Clean Jean transforming into the Goblin Queen was giving series Sailor Moon vibes and I was here for it.
Jubilee blasting the TV monster made me jump like a true horror flick ... and how they showed the split of its head 😮
Reminded me of the netflix Castlevania monsters.
I didn't expect Disney to show that or when they beat up Cyclope in chapter 1. If they continue like this, I think that now Spider-Man will have more freedom hitting the bad guys since before he couldn't because of censorship.
It so great to hear christopher britton back as mister sinister he is such a fantastic villain.
I know! No one could replace him as Mr Sinister. He's brilliant in that role. He hasn't lost a step either.
I am really loving seeing Morph go hard and change into different mutants as the occasion needs especially during fights, seeing him shift back into his original series look in the most recent episode made me have a lot of feelings
Rogue and magneto were away from the Mansion "on patrol" they weren't in the danger room. They say this while Wolverine, morph, and gambit are walking out of their session, implying that the schedule gambit reads is part of the clone jeans illusions. They say something like "magneto and rogue are next? That's weird, they're on patrol"
I also don't think forge came back to the past from The future, I think that's just a younger version of the character at the end of the episode. He's missing his normal prosthetic leg and grey streaks in his hair.
X-Men 97 is really good it's a good series very well written

I was not expecting that magic cameo I really want to see a midnight suns animated show and Jennifer Hale was fantastic in this episode she is an amazing voice actor

Also, I’m pretty sure the Forge that Storm meets at the bar is just present day Forge and not the Forge from the future that Bishop is from. Because a younger Forge showed up in the original animated series in the same episode that Iceman was in.

I agree, X-Men 97 is focusing on Cyclops and making Wolverine a side character… which is good. Kevin probably wants to distance the MCU from the Wolverine-focused Fox movies. If done right, Cyclops is the next Cap of the MCU.

I think the Royalty that Sinister mentioned was a hint to the Goblin "Queen" and not to the Shi'ar royalty.

This episode was fantastic! This is exactly want I wanted and so much more! Give me more of this amazing batshit insanity! These are the trippy as hell X-Men stories I've waited so long for! I'm so happy to have these X-Men back as a family because this is what I missed the most! The chaotic energy from the X-Men as they go through hell trying to figure out what the heck is going on. This is exactly what's going to get me tuning in every week for this incredible show! 🌟✨️🎆 10/10 episode!!!
Rogue and Magneto werent in the danger room. Wolverine, Morph and Gambit came out and they made fun of Gambit, but he even said that Rogue and Magneto werent at the school.

I think Jean Grey was switched by Mr.Sinister either during season 04 "Beyond good and evil episodes or Season 05 " The Phalanx Covenant" episodes.

@Trippyrockstarr thats my personal opinion, both were aware of the phoenix power good and dark due had their peak telepath level when Jean and Madelyne fought each other... either the switch by Sinster was done where had opportunity in season 04 Beyond good and evil episodes due Apocalypse and Mr.Sinister capturing telepath or during Season 05 "The Phalanx Covenant " when he was helping or runing swtich Jean Grey with Madelyne Pryor

If you think about it Xmen truly has the best rogues gallery. Magneto, Sinister, Apocalypse, Omega Red, Sabretooth, Sentinels,Shadow King. And that's just scratching the surface. It's a gold mine

When were jean ,and Madelyn switched? My best guess is right after jean ,and scott's wedding in beyond good ,and evil the last time sinister kidnaps jean. That would've been a good opportunity for a switcheroo.
I don’t know wasn’t the whole point of collecting her was to kill all the psychics to make his perfect paradise. I think in the end he probably would pass up that opportunity if he can easily get his perfect mutant. I think honestly could be when Jean was found after she came back to earth before she turn dark phoenix.

The Dante's Inferno reference could also point to the sorcerer Belasco who altered Ilyana Rasputin into Magik. He first appeared in Ka-Zar the Savage in the 80's (#10-12) in a part of Savage Land made to resemble parts of the Dante's Inferno story. The big purple demon S'ym is from Belasco's later storyline with the X-Men.

Saturday morning cartoons and it's connection to toys was a little more complicated than as described.
But great job recapping this ep! was a fun adaptation of 7 years worth of xmen comics!
This episode was pretty dark with the monsters! The animation was on point with some horror elements.

In the flashback with Jean first meeting the Professor if you look closely you'll notice that she has a stuff animal cyclops with one eye. I believe that's a reference to Cyclops, her eventual BF.
It’s a reference to the original series dark Phoenix saga - episode where Jean goes back to her childhood home that stuffed toy is in her bedroom

11:51 - FINALLY! I've been wondering why they never explained his presence in this after those first few episodes of the first season.
I've not seen the majority of the series myself, only some of it. So it's been the one thing that's had me questioning that since he was announced to be in the new series.
This episode had so much heart mixed with action i really enjoyed it and the ending with Storm was great

Inferno was also the name of the x-men story arc in the comics that partially dealt with this storyline. This episode showed magik too as an Easter egg reference to the inferno storyline. I hope they fully utilize the inferno storyline and go with the demon invasion of NYC. (This would also explain the spider-man reference in the newspapaer since he crossed over into the inferno storyline.) *Great video, btw.*
Good conclusion for Madelyn although now it means the return of the love triangle for Scott Jean and Logan
I think the intro to the show changes every episode to hint what the episode will be about. It’s a cool way to keep fans from choosing “skip intro” as we’re streaming. The shot of X and Lilandra is a recreation of when Jean died on the moon. Lets us know the ep is going to deal with Jean’s return. I bet the next episode intro will have a recreation of a Storm moment from the old series, since the story seems to be shifting to her regaining her powers arc.
A lot of Easter eggs in this episode my personal favorite is cyclops holding jean grey body
Since Maddie was using her telepathy to manipulate the other X-Men's minds, Rogue & Magneto probably weren't affected because she wasn't concentrating on them (as they were otherwise engaged).

Great video as usual, but I have some thoughts (even though I learned about the X-Men through this show & the movies - no comics access). 1) Wasn’t the green monster in the elevator, Mojo? 2) Maybe Charlie thought it was too obvious to mention but the name of the bar at the end- ‘Tequila Mockingbird’ was a reference to the famous book & movie, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. Subject: A White (Jim Crow era) Alabama lawyer’s attempt to prevent an innocent poor Black man from going to prison for a rape he never committed. Both stories are about outsiders being sentenced to captivity &/or death just for being born different.

Magneto and Rogue were on patrol as gambit said which is why they were in effected. Rogue also mention how the whole mansion looks ransacked implying they just arrived and made it to the war room. The danger room scene was in reference to the goblins queen’s manipulation
