I truly appreciate this move. A masterpiece of film. Make for those that love art, not just mindless explosions and escapism. Additionally, the soundtrack is my favorite one of all time for quiet listening
Still remember when I saw this movie 1995, in Milano. Many people when off the cinema during the projection. I guess they thought since is Harvey Keitel that might be some usual American movie… instead it was a typical long slow Eastern European kind of a movie. At the of the movie in a cinema hall there only two persons remained; me and some old lady. The day after that I immediately bought the cd soundtrack. Marvelous music for such a great movie.
Shedding tears while watching this scene is an automatic response. It is like the soul is speaking through the body for an unknown yet profoundly proximal reason.
A definite masterpiece, a look into A Europe that is already gone, into a soul that only can remember the past. Our glance lost in the infinity, looking at nothing, evoking this old and tired continent, and conjuring the cultural core and seed of Europe. The barbarians from the north won the recent battles, and now they claim to dominate the economy. But will this society last much longer? This music is so precious, so appropriate for this movie, so prone to make one cry and cry...

Unbeatable work of the great director Theo Angelopoulos and composer Eleni Karaindrou. ♥
