I have a note pad that I record what I paid for each item. I carry with me to garage sales and flea markets. Then record on spreadsheet later. Enjoying your Vlogs.
I do a spreadsheet. A simple one of what I bought *under the location I bought it - yard sales, thrift store etc) price paid, price sold, estimated shipping actually shopping , fees, and then total profit.
If you are buying a large amt of items u put each one in the cart and then check out. It should add up the weight and u will only pay the right shipping for those items. Somewhere in the rules that the seller chooses is a place where it says to add up and change the shipping so it will do that.
Dear Dave, I want to apologize to you. I realized today that I had not subscribed to your channel. YT has been reliably serving me your new videos because of my other subscriptions. I appreciate your content, and I love your honesty and find it refreshing that you are sharing your reselling life experiences TOOTHFULLY. I have rectified my error and subscribed to you today.
I love selling smalls...cheap to buy, easy to list and ship and every small sale adds up. The way I account for my inventory is overall cost of goods and I think my average cost of goods is below $4.
Weird as it may sound, I keep track of what each item costs. I'm nowhere near at the scale you are, but I do keep a spreadsheet. Several, actually. One to track admin expenses (boxes, tape, mileage to/from sourcing) and one for tracking cost of goods, sales, postage and fees. It's very helpful come tax time.
hey Dave for whatnot shipping issues your customer is supposed to deal directly with whatnot. they'll offer them a partial credit or option to return it to a whatnot warehouse for a full refund. they don't expect you to deal with it or expect you to.
I do a per item breakdown on a Google sheet, I input my buy cost, item total payment, fees, and shipping cost. It automatically calculates my amount I walk away with.
I track all my expensive in and out and each item I buy and what I paid for it and what it sells for. It takes 30 seconds to put it on the spread sheet and move it to a sold spreadsheet. I have one for every year.
I can't do a price breakdown on each item that I buy from garage sales because I know how to negotiate on my entire purchase. I've mentioned before how you do it wrong at garage sales. You pick up an item, ask how much it is (even though it's clearly marked) and pay for it. Then you look more, pick up an item, ask for the price and pay for it. You lose all negotiating potential this way. You shouldn't pay for anything until you're completely done and ready to leave. If the total for everything is $35, you offer $25.
Having held over 100 garage sales, I can confirm you will definitely get the better deal doing it this way! Multiple item discount is the way to go for sure.
I had a root canal a couple weeks ago. Wednesday I was eating a piece of candy and my whole tooth broke. Nothing left. And it's the one right next to my front tooth. I feel your pain Dave.
Yes it does help to have a spouse that is the opposite my spouse is the same and sometimes our house is exploding with stuff until I get into purge mode 17:06
* So happy that you had a gentle person with the needle.. ~ When you Bid, Set a Maximum for yourself.. Do NOT bid over your Max ~ Then you can flip it.. On Ebay you can actually place your Highest Bid & Ignore it. You win or you lose.. (Unless it is the only one on earth..)
Think comics would do well on whatnot? We've not went live before but I found around 350-400 comics recently I'd like to get into someone's hands who actually likes them lol. I'm getting into them the more I inventory them, which is scary because I don't need to start more collections lol
Funny story, the last week Toys R Us were closing stores they were selling everything off and I mean everything. I purchased two shopping carts, the full size ones for about $12 bucks each with tax. Realized Im never going to be able to ship them and put them up on FB market. Sold both 4-5 months later for $75 total! The guy that got them, built a life size model scale of a store in his basement to display his sealed toys.
Yep, my last POP Fiunko sale the buyer messaged me that USPS crushed the box and it the POP box was messed up,, it was just one and I did not pay much for it or first class postage and I refunded the buyer and let them keep the POP but will probably double box when I have a higher dollar value pop and wont send first class
I had a customer receive a damaged package and was informed that it is up to the customer to start a refund request. That they are suppose to take the item along with the packaging to their local post office. The post office will then deceide to issue a refund.
Speaking of the dentist you went to a doctor that specialize works on rtc. That’s all they do. I seen that before it’s common. Sometimes when they have the rtc done it can be pull out later if it is hurting you. It depends on the person. I don’t know if you remember me I am the only that went to school for dental assistant and does not work as one. I run my own business and work on eBay.
I can totally relate to shopping with mom. She took my older sister and I shopping a lot. We were like the three musketeers with shopping. My mom also liked to leave surprises on our bed for when we got home from school. I’m the same now. I love to shop and mostly for my kids, and I learned much later on to appreciate thrift stores. My mom has always done that, but I used to stick my nose up at it. Garage sales too. Shopping-and eating- are great “me time” activities.
Glad to here you are making progress on the tooth issue. I keep a log book of what I buy, when, where, how much I sell items for, total spent, and if I can, what I roughly spend on each item. yards sales and estate sales are a bit tricky, but I’m getting that figured out. I source a lot off hi-bid auctions, that’s easy tho most give a detailed invoice of what I bought, so I just transfer that into my book. Just helps me keep track of profit/loss..
I was watching Ralli Roots Whatnot and totally was jealous of missing out on those epic Dead shirts! Score!! So glad your tooth is feeling better. -Amy
Have you heard of Pirate Ship? It integrates with ebay and I've heard that dealing with insurance claims through them is a lot easier than ebay/USPS directly.
Lol, I not only track how much I paid for each individual item and in my inventory (currently around 10k items), but when I got it, where I got it, when I list it, when it sells, how much shipping was (charged vs actual), the actual (not estimated) fees collected, and how much the packaging to ship the item cost. Overboard? Perhaps. But I know *exactly* how much I’m making on everything I sell. Also, I love that your mom got recognized. She is the best.
I had a dentist I went to once for a filling and I literally had to stop them and ended up leaving because they didn’t let the topical sit for even a minute before trying the needle and when he did I’m pretty sure he hit a nerve because I ended up crying in pain
Back in the day I worked at our first toys R us it was in Flushing Queens NY I loved it then after having kids love shopping there. I have bad luck finding a dentist that knows what their doing also now I have a few empty places in my mouth not happy and they wonder why people don’t want to go to a dentist
You can remove a Funko Pop from the box and put it back in because the box is not sealed by the manufacturer but you still need to safely remove the figure and keep the box in good condition. I just got a refund on a Funko Pop that I bought on eBay and the box was slightly damaged in shipping but I'm an "in box" collector with all my collectibles.
I have a very messed up back and if you're going to sit on the floor make sure you have a wall or piece of solid furniture right behind you and keep your lower back against it as much as you can...it helps a little 😉
So apparently the annual crab festival in Astoria, Oregon is so big that one of my coworkers took the day off to get a spray tan and her hair and makeup professionally done. She did look pretty, but I thought it was pretty crazy.
I'm using flyp to track per sale not per item. Then Spreadsheet for per day Next hurricane call them Galleyways Try making cry noises when the kitty bites. She might feel bad and stop. I had one that learned.
I told steve at rakenprofit that his warning notice when he buys stuff reminds me of scam artists who are laying the foundation for a complaint, I would cancel the order. If my 338 perfect feedbacks aint good enuf the the heck with him. I told him congrats on his success but the bragging arogance is getting old. Hope to meet you the next time you are in wake or Joco, NC
I wanted to try a coupon and I was selling things I really didn’t think I needed to sell with a discount. I was confused if it was good or bad, but I was happy they sold fast
So awesome that your mom was recognized. PSA grades Funko Pops which, to me, seems odd. I’m looking forward to hear what happens with USPS claim. I bought sports cards and the box looked like it was run over by a truck damaging all the corners on cards and post office denied claim saying contents weren’t damaged.
Nah per item break down would cut further into the money you could make by listing or moving existing listings quicker. When you buy it and list it is the only time to factor how much you paid imo. Some tubers do it and I still see them selling stuff for way to cheap of prices especially in my niche.
I have the same issue with buying on whatnot and bidding last second lol. I had to step away from whatnot for a little while, way too easy to overspend!
My kid shops when he is stressed or sad too. That's his go to. It's probably bc I took him to Walmart and the mall as fun things to do as a kid too. 🤣🤣😂😂
Hey Dave so happy to hear your root canal went well. I hope you find an awesome dentist. I couldn’t help buying a few more items. Got my big box today. Ty Tina and Dave! Love Callie’s Dino’s 💐😊 everything arrived in excellent condition. Watching your video I don’t think I got records but who knows I may have gotten click happy! Lol😂 I know exactly what you mean about shopping. I tell my girls it’s retail therapy 😊💐I don’t need a therapist just a credit card 😁 I’m like you I get caught up in the auctions and before I know it I have a bunch of new ornaments 🙃💐 I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the parade😊💐👍🎄
Not only the box but the sticker. Especially if it's an exclusive. It's silly. That's why, if there's any damage I take them out. The figures are still cool regardless. I got my Funko's from you the other day and you packed everything great!!
I live alone and started w making my spare rm my Ebay room. It's full of inventory and boxes. Even though I have a mannequin, I've been using a hanger on a wall, and packing and shipping on my large dining room table. I did Pyrex on my kitchen counter. My house and I'm still trying for a routine!
Shopping is a coping mechanism... But you have found the other side of it... Buy and sell... Keep what you want... No guilt!! But I'm slightly concerned about your storage😮 Keep up the good work selling!!! I love your videos!
You have a better chance finding a good dentist than filing a claim with USPS. What I've read is their very strick and policies that need to fall under, basically its not that simple.
I hope u are feeling better Dave!!! But Lol yea Dave i am one of those people that sit on the floor an wraps presents…and yes I be squirming around because my back and my leg start hurting!!! 😮
I was watching Matt and he passed on stuff because it was 5x and was targeting items 10x or more (well, that’s just Matt being Matt), but I thought you said you always try to get 3x. So, if you buy an item for a buck, do you buy it if you know you can get 3 bucks? Or, does it depend on how much the item costs?
I ❤️ that your mom got recognized! You need to make her a "Mama Picker" sweatshirt!
Dave it is no joke that people call it retail therapy. You are right!
I have a note pad that I record what I paid for each item. I carry with me to garage sales and flea markets. Then record on spreadsheet later. Enjoying your Vlogs.

Love to hear you ramble. Makes me laugh
Shopping Is very calming.😊
Great to hear that your root canal wasn't difficult.
I love selling smalls...cheap to buy, easy to list and ship and every small sale adds up. The way I account for my inventory is overall cost of goods and I think my average cost of goods is below $4.
I still smalls if I got it for free or it was mere ounces at The Bins.
I put the cost of the item in the sku section along with bin location.
hey Dave for whatnot shipping issues your customer is supposed to deal directly with whatnot. they'll offer them a partial credit or option to return it to a whatnot warehouse for a full refund. they don't expect you to deal with it or expect you to.
I do a per item breakdown on a Google sheet, I input my buy cost, item total payment, fees, and shipping cost. It automatically calculates my amount I walk away with.
I use a card table for wrapping gifts. It's easy to fold away at the end of the night.
We need a whatnot support group, I have definitely purchased more than I've sold in my auctions! Many items from you, LOL!
Congrats! You finally went to a real dentist! Don't back to the other one. It's clear from your stories that he is horrible.
I track all my expensive in and out and each item I buy and what I paid for it and what it sells for. It takes 30 seconds to put it on the spread sheet and move it to a sold spreadsheet. I have one for every year.

Yeah I always make piles lol
I make piles but at estate sales. I hardly ever find enough at garage sales to make good piles.
Having held over 100 garage sales, I can confirm you will definitely get the better deal doing it this way! Multiple item discount is the way to go for sure.

Thanks for the tooth update!
I am right there with you. Whatnot is addicting and I def shop when stressed which seems to be everyday 🤣
I really have to jump on the bandwagon. I’ve seen some amazing items sourced on Whatnot. Not ready to sell myself, but maybe someday.

Fully vested in the tooth story. The endo"dontist" showed you how modern dentistry should be done!
I knew you needed a root canal. Sorry you had to go through all of this mess. Wish it was done in the correct order the first time.
Speaking of the dentist you went to a doctor that specialize works on rtc. That’s all they do. I seen that before it’s common. Toys r us never closed in Canada and they reopened in the Macy's storess in the US
So cheesy 😂 “A better toothmarrow” 😂 😂 Oh, my name is Elizabeth and I’m a shopaholic too 😂
I track everything, but it is a lot of work! But, it helps me to determine if something is worth picking up in the future again.
A better TOOTHmorrow🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Excellent Wordsmithing, Dave!!
USPS is IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. They drag on take forever to approve a claim if they do. Hate when i have to do a claim with them
Have you heard of Pirate Ship? It integrates with ebay and I've heard that dealing with insurance claims through them is a lot easier than ebay/USPS directly.
Anybody seen pirate ships new videos, they advertise on RUclips they're highly funny, they don't use USPS insurance.. much easier to deal with
There is a custom SKU that buyers don't get to see you can track you box # and cost there...simple
I love your videos Dave!
yes therapeutic shopping is a real thing! ask me how I know! LOL!
🙋🏻♀️ individual item spreadsheet girl here. (That said, I need to keep a notebook in my car to remember yard sale cost of goods!)
Lol, I not only track how much I paid for each individual item and in my inventory (currently around 10k items), but when I got it, where I got it, when I list it, when it sells, how much shipping was (charged vs actual), the actual (not estimated) fees collected, and how much the packaging to ship the item cost. I definitely run to shopping when I’m stressed

Retail therapy ❤
U r 100% relatable on every level Dave!! From the ADHD moments to there never being enough time in a day I get it!! Cool videos. 💯
I'm so glad tooth is better. Cute bout mom.
Retail Therapy! 😊 works wonders! 🛍
i bought that janet jackson tape!! my husband paid it via ebay so he didn't leave a message. but big fan of the show!!
Make your wrapping station a card table in your office with a lock on the door.
You can remove a Funko Pop from the box and put it back in because the box is not sealed by the manufacturer but you still need to safely remove the figure and keep the box in good condition. yes i write down cog on each item for tax purposes
I love your video keep it up

Try making cry noises when the kitty bites. She might feel bad and stop. I had one that learned.
Happy Friday Dave Hope you and Family are well. I agree Whatnot can be hazardous to your wallet. Take care 🎶✌🍏
I told steve at rakenprofit that his warning notice when he buys stuff reminds me of scam artists who are laying the foundation for a complaint, I would cancel the order. Agreed about Whatnot buying. TShirts are becoming my crack!
I wanted to try a coupon and I was selling things I really didn’t think I needed to sell with a discount. I was confused if it was good or bad, but I was happy they sold fast
I think shopping might be a bit more addicting than therapeutic lol.

A better tooth-morrow 🤣🤣 I’m glad you are out of agony 💯✅
I have the same issue with buying on whatnot and bidding last second lol. I had to step away from whatnot for a little while, way too easy to overspend!
I read someone's comment on a video & the called non bolo items nolo😄 I got a kick out of it. Grinch shoes look crazy
My kid shops when he is stressed or sad too. That's his go to. It's probably bc I took him to Walmart and the mall as fun things to do as a kid too. 🤣🤣😂😂

Dave, I don't know if you know this but Toys R Us has reopened in all Macys stores.
My daughter would wear those Grinch shoes!
Can’t find your PO Box address. I want to send you something you need in your reselling life, as a thank you! 😊
Glad your tooth is better. You probably needed a root canal all along. Feel better!
Not only the box but the sticker. Especially if it's an exclusive. It's silly. That's why, if there's any damage I take them out. The figures are still cool regardless. I got my Funko's from you the other day and you packed everything great!!
I keep all my records on spread sheets and I'm not far from you so maybe we can make a trade spreadsheets for training?
I want an update on your tooth❣ That sounds much better. There is a big difference in Dentists, & Doctors! 🍁🍁🍁Canada.
While the kids are home move your bed out into the living room then a big table into your bedroom… that totally won’t be odd
I do a spreadsheet and put the grand total of what I spent at a sale and then I also record what I paid for each item
Another good video
Oh my gosh - I also wrap on the floor but then my husband said to use his workbench in his shop and it was a game changer
I’m way too old to package on the floor! I use my kitchen island. But have an oversized desk in the office I’m organizing. Hope to be set up by 1/1
I wrap packages on my bed.
When I buy something from a auction I tend to spend more money than I should
Stormtroopers couldn't hit the broadside of a bantha at three feet...
Put it in your head "I'd rather win the flip than the auction.!" While your bidding on stuff on whatnot or whatever.
Shopping is a coping mechanism... But you have found the other side of it... Buy and sell... Keep what you want... No guilt!! But I'm slightly concerned about your storage😮
Keep up the good work selling!!! I love your videos!
You have a better chance finding a good dentist than filing a claim with USPS. What I've read is their very strick and policies that need to fall under, basically its not that simple.
Whatnot is waaaay too dangerous for me. Same for Posh shows. Especially if they aren't getting sales, I "pity buy" to make them feel better 😆
I hope u are feeling better Dave!!! But Lol yea Dave i am one of those people that sit on the floor an wraps presents…and yes I be squirming around because my back and my leg start hurting!!! 😮
Remember it's baby bites till you can chew off more...
Or thrift store therapy in my case
Retail therapy
Those limited design shoes can go for good $. My son "had to have" the Vans Metallica sneakers. They are a show piece for him not a daily wear.
I'm glad you're getting a new dentist my dentist used the topical numbing agent as well. Your old Dentist just sounds like a quack
Soon this channel will be the tooth, the whole tooth, and nothing but the tooth
