I actually don't agree with some of his opinions, just in this vid alone I didnt agree with the riven cheese one ( I've done every raid since D1 "normal way" and "cheese way" ), and as someone who nows only plays with LFG teams, I can say that platinum river is gonna be hell on earth ( or prob impossible ) without a proper raid team. Maybe if my raid team didnt split and stopped playing on curse of osiris I would prob have the same opinions as Datto. But, as I stand now ( a solo player ), I can't relate with most his opinions. ( btw, I would consider myself a pretty good raider, I know most of the mechanics of every raid encounter, and I'm usually the one outputing the most amount of damage while giving out calls to the rest of the team so its not a "sKiLL iSsUe" thing as some people will try to say to discredit my opinions).

our raid team adopted a level 1 guardian rank from the tower and forced him to raid a kings fall with us that night (ab four months ago now). we took him through pantheon and his ass didn't grab a raid exotic and he got golf balls instead😭

I think in your description of the audience of raids you’re missing out on a large middle group there, you describe it as either hardcore raid grinders with all the loot or first timers
In reality probably a lot of people in shoes like mine, who have dabbled in almost every raid over the last 10 years, tried a few content raids, but once each expansion comes out and you clear it a few times just taper off and stop playing, then you come back again next year, I’ve got single digit clears on a lot of raids. Pantheon has been great, both from a challenge perspective for catching up with all the mechanics I haven’t done in ages but also showering me with loot for weapons I never grinded for. I always loved the raid experience, the chaos and coordination of this 6 man activity you can never get in any other game, but just didn’t grind them much (except a few)

Yeppp this is the majority of my clan. There are a couple of us who have grinded a lot after everyone leaves, but then our pals come back when the new expansion drops and we go hard in the raids for a little bit then taper off again. Such is life.

Coming from a long time subscriber/viewer of your channel, watching your growth as a person, a youtuber, and Destiny player has been a pleasure. Your view on the Raid Exotics being easily obtainable really struck a cord with me and made me appreciative of you as a content creator and voice in the community.
i agree with everything except for the platinum timer reset, for one main reason: LFGs. if the platinum time didn’t reset, LFG groups would fall apart a lot quicker.
Part of the issue lies in patience & time. A friend-group being forced to reset the raid doesn’t cause much friction, but in an LFG group, it can make some people deeply frustrated. Some players simply just don’t have a lot of time every time they get on Destiny (ex: “I have an hour to complete this”), meaning that a forced reset of the raid would equate to that time-limited player getting off.
And as I’m sure y’all know, once one person leaves the fireteam, more often follow behind them. When you play with your friend group, it’s a hell of a lot easier to say “ah, let’s try that again” because there is a mutual understanding of patience & group expectations.

Clearing the Riven encounter legit back in the day was probably the most adrenaline filled, mentally rewarding event I can possibly imagine for Destiny.
My frustration came from the ammount of people in lfg that couldnt do the base mechanic let alone the little bit of extra stuff thrown in and cnstantly out damaging eveyone else on my team by anywhere from 50% to 200% more damage it just got frustrating. I will say even though we took 2 hoirs we did platnum everything and get a score of over 3 million so i already have 4 of the 10 triumphs for the title done.

Per the exotics being "given away:"
At this point, not having them means rng has been screwing you or you don't get to raid that often. And even ignoring that, it's not like this is a 3 person activity or something. You still have to raid and the encounters are made a little more difficult. Having guaranteed raid exotic drops seems perfectly fair to me.
Bungo have been making new ones have guaranteed ways to acquire them anyway like the quest for necro. This might not be the way many would prefer to get drop protection but at least it's a way. The worst part about it is just the fomo really.
Genuinely had a good time in this with the boys, plus a couple nice randoms. Big W getting adepts we’ve never had

My experience about LFGs trying pantheon:
- I had someone during golgoroth's part of pantheon that didn't asked at any time for help, when we said if he needed help he said he was fine and he said understood the mechanic, and then started to watch a D1 king's fall guide during a break time bc he didn't know how to do it (we could hear the video through his mic, but he thought we couldn't). What was he doing wrong? He didn't even went down to the pool to damage, and did 0 damage (and he asked: "what happened, am I bugged?", we were like: "were you inside the pool?", and he said: "yes, of course"), the only time he did damage was bc we told him so many times to just follow the team and DPS with the group, but we wiped, bc he didn't know about the unstable light mechanic.
- We managed to get to planets, and nothing more, why? 5 hours of suffering, bc they didn't have enough DPS tools (they didn't even have edge transit, which is very easy to farm right now), so we decided to use rockets bc it was the only thing that could carry the damage. Uhm, it didn't worked, I was the gjally guy bc at this point I was very sure they didn't even know how to gjally, and that was funny, bc I was outDPSing them with gjally, for some reason. They couldn't shoot straight or something, I don't know.
-Bonus: One of them was DPSing golgoroth with thunderlord and he was like "Why there's no one using divinity?".
I had a guy ask earlier if we were using div for golgy, my edge transit went brr and out dps the whole team
My condolences. Though to be fair for the edge transit, been having at it, no go, been using my Cataphract in the mean time as I farm it up.

something forgotten about the class modifier is that it also boost resistence,so if it stays for the next updates,properly keeping it stacked up and running will be important even outside of dps phases
As someone with autism, the mode looks super fun but not being able to run raids because im non-verbal really hurt the destiny experience for me. In d1 i could consistently solo crota and two mqn vault of glass. Some of my best memories
Have you ever thought of finding a clan or similar that would support you in this endeavor? I can imagine that there is some part of the community that would love to have you, even if you are non-verbal.
Well, genuine suggestion, if you study up on all the positions and get a firm understanding on them d2 lfg discord has no mic runs fairly often. I've joined many of them and they have all been pleasantly smooth.
I've had many runs without mics, if you are competent and willing to learn, there are people willing to teach, even without a mic
The more people that get to enjoy raid weapons the better, esp since they're still doing a raid to earn them

So if only 11% of all D2 players complete only 1 raid ever. I suspect less than 3% will complete this and less than 10% will attempt it. Pantheon will 100% NOT get people into raiding.
It was while back when there was number crunching and estimates from various sites but I remember the number people threw around was about 12-15 or so completions could put a unique account in the top 20% of all times raiders and I believe just Final boss encounters counted as well, so yeah we're talking about an incredibly small portion of people who actively raid. Problem is Destiny goofed waiting too long to put in ingame LFG and never really had a mmo culture for tackling this stuff that was felt in game, so a lot of people interested long opted out and went their own way and what's left in LFG now is a total zoo.
The people who wanted to or are willing to learn will definitely get into raiding via Pantheon. Those who just wants to do add clear 24/7 will definitely not and that's fine. The less add clearers, the better, they don't deserve getting carried or getting loot if they aren't willing to learn.
@@mun123keet The main issue is there is nothing in the game that teaches a player how to approach end game content. If someone buys the game plays the campaign, do some strikes/nightfall/coil etc they will have zero idea how to raid or do a dungeon. It is very very very very bad game design when someone has to watch hours of RUclips videos, study mechanics that you cannot learn or develop in any other content etc then told, literally, what loadouts to use etc. That is garbage. That is the reason why people do not want to raid. Not because they want to get carried...they have nowhere to learn (from just playing the game) and it is 100% Bungies fault.
@@thealldayspecial I agree not having early LFG was probably the 2nd biggest mistake Bungie has ever done with this game. The 1st is actually, and I mention this in my reply below, no way for a new player to learn how to approach end game content without watching hours of videos, studying mechanics and being told what loadouts to use etc. A new player cannot just buy the game, play the campaign, do some strikes etc get to level and then go raiding or do a dungeon. Yet I just started playing Diablo 4 and I have not watched a video or strategy etc and I can at least approach end game content since it is literally the same as anything else just more difficult (in some cases insanely difficult but I can still get to it and not have to study or memorize anything)

Pantheon looks like the perfect type of mode where experienced or dedicated players can get their returning player friends through some raiding and get them some gear. A proper place to mix the experienced with the not experienced. Feels like a perfect addition to the Into The Light content drop.
Hopefully Pantheon is cool enough for people to see Bungie do something like this annually. For a theoretical Pantheon 2.0 I would already welcome it if they used Vaulted Raid encounters exclusivly with some loot in them provided they aren't already returned. A Leviathan themed raid gauntlet could be fun!
Riven situation...I see no way around avoiding Health Gating her unless Bungie comes up with something really creative. Cheese or no cheese, we've seen the many different ways people figured out how to solo 1 phase her, may it be with Stasis Titans or Sunbracers Warlocks just throwing grenades at the ceiling, its insane damage output people can bring with barely any setup.

Tormentors are the new champions. Literally getting tossed into everything.
Honestly more annoying at this point. You need a sniper or linear or slug, if you're daring, to break those shoulders, which feels more restrictive than our elements plus seasonal perks.
@@sauceinmyface9302 You can also use supers, Forerunner, Lucky Pants procs, etc. and non-boss ones are suspendable, plus the Explicator one despawns if it's still alive when DPS starts (I think the DSC one does too, don't quote me). OTOH Champion lock-and-key is a lot better than it used to be, simply because we have way more keys.
@@life-destiny1196 I'm very glad that they are cc'able with tractor and suspend. The deep stone crypt ones spawn during dps so they probably don't leave, as far as I could tell.

Did 6 lfg groups. Over 20 hours of trying every one of them fell apart for one reason or another. Guess it’s just another raid related thing I’m never gunna do

I like that in pantheon we got SOMETHING aside from regular "turn the damage and HP of enemies up to eleven". Usually I detest this approach. Just tuning enemies' stats is the cheapest difficulty change known to humanity. So I wish we could get more of these actual mechanical changes in the future, it is lot better then "throw a bunch of oneshoting champs on the field" we usually get in these activities.
I’d rather have the usual difficulty increase over them throwing tormentors where they don’t belong for the 100th time, they have those mfs in a public event from year 1 now like wtf
@@Nosyyy ya, but at least it's not a boss tormentor. He can be blinded, suspended, slowed, hanged, frozen and shit on. And they have very low HP. As far as they stay like that I'm ok with it.
I reckon people complaining about the raid exotic handout are the same people who couldn't get the exotic emote and ghost from levi and SoS back in the day
The emblems alone being in a hard activity make me want to participate.
So let me get this straight, they create a game mode for people to gauntlet raid bosses, that awards random loot from raids, and an exotic at the end of the gauntlet.
BUT.... It is in this sort of contest mode that just gets harder and harder every week.
So only really accessible to experienced raiders.

It took my very casual team under 6 hours to clear pantheon, between vaguely remembering fights, teaching someone who was raiding for the first time in 6 years, remembering how to do Parasite strat, etc.
Fully agreed on plat timing. I was so confused when we didn't have to go to orbit on a wipe

2:35 during my first run, I lost my voice, and couldn’t speak, and one of my teammates knew that his back opens up again 10 seconds before time is up, so they just counted for me
Fireteam finder was tough the first few hours. GR 11, double digit clears of pretty much every raid, and I was either finding dead lobbies or getting rejected. After two or three groups, found a really good one and we stayed together for 3 hours. Seemed better on day two. I have most the loot, but still missing some exotics. It will be nice to get those two.
Datto, pretty sure they said somewhere that they were changing Rivens model, which was kind of an indirect way of saying they’re preventing tickling her toes. So riven will have to be done Legit (thank god).
Either way we probably won't have enough damage to cheese her underdevel.

This thing is an lfg nightmare. It’s fairly simple with a good team of friends or clanmates. It’s an assortment of lfg killer encounters

We had a tormentor meander over during the final stand of Atraks. It ended up pushing one of the other replications into the one we were trying to actually damage, which caused us to wipe because of the splash damage hitting the wrong one. We were unlucky enough to get the same exact Atraks replication on final stand 3 straight times with the tormentor too, so it kept happening. Our solution was to primary that replication down so that we could burst a different one. It probably could've been avoided it we were confident in our ability to do enough damage on one floor, but we decided not to do that.
14:44 I tend to disagree, I think the Pantheon is actually the best place to have new raiders go to learn specific encounters in a consolidated environment and get familiar with raiding without having to worry about all of the puzzle stuff in between encounters. If LFG's don't want to teach, then don't invite people to the lobby who don't know what they're doing. I've never done a raid before in my entire life, I joined an LFG and met insanely cool people who were incredibly patient with all 3 of us who were new and did great breaking the encounters down before going in. Raid mechanics also aren't terribly difficult to understand, it's just hard to execute on. Sure, it took us 4 ish hours to clear the last two encounters, but it was genuinely the most fun I've ever had playing Destiny having never experienced raids before and gave me that sense of achievement.
50 clears of king's fall and no touch of malice, i'm glad i finally got that out of the way with this

Pantheon is definitely like a catch up mode for people who have raided but not enough to have everything they want from raids
Had a cloak drop with an extra perk slot too, so make sure to check the gear.
We aren't giving out loot. I think the players that complete the pantheon are worthy of obtaining these toys. I agree that this will promote teamwork and comprehension of how raids work mechanically. Once you learn how it works, it because a blast and you can roleplay "lore accurate raiding" but you gotta get past the fear of introduction. These rewards are great incentives to the new players and a breathe of gratitude for the old players that have not gotten "that exotic" in a raid. I hope to get my friend into destiny, just so he can use 1k voices. He stopped sometime after Forsaken - life, , burnout, ect. I'm going to try sherpa'ing him with my clan. Sounds nice

We all know that what originally broke LFG is Crota's Abyss, hardest encounter on the game to LFG

re: the Exotics. If you can learn and kill four (slightly tougher) bosses, I think you should be able to get a Raid Exotic. Four encounters is a standard Raid, and it's all bosses no puzzles. A regular Joe still needs to learn and perform all these rolls, and that's either slightly more tough (boosted mechanics + no learning from previous phases) if you've never done it before, or exactly the same if you're a big time Raider, in which case you've either got the Exotic already, or you're 60 clears in and ready to pull your hair out by its roots.
on Atraks you don’t even need to kill the tormentor at all lol, you can just go down to basement, do what you need to do, and get out, and he’s still chilling at the pods, you just need to get by him without dying when going up
For Atraks, we didn't even kill the tormentor, it was so little of a threat.
Pantheon is a nice refresher, but oh my god it’s an LFG nightmare. i can’t even imagine what it’s going to play like during contest mode.
That being said I had a 6 hour sherpa LMAO. it was very gratifying though to finally finish it
I think having the platinum timer reset on death is pretty good, these timers are gonna be much tighter as the tiers go on
After having to do Deep Stone 100 times before getting eyes, I refuse to do the same for touch of malice. So dam straight I’m happy about it being “you beat pantheon? Have the gun!”
I think locked loadout would have been a good touch. I know a ton of people would HATE it but it would add a lot more difficulty to these raid bosses and add a lot more team strategy than just tanking bosses.
The armour dropping with an extra perk slot is nice too
What I like a ton about platinum being tied to a run of the boss with disregard of wipes is that it doesn't punish people who would really like to get platinum but are also still learning. It makes the loot accessible and the mode interesting to people who aren't profficient with the encounters yet and I think that's a good thing.
The nice thing about Bungie giving the raid exotics for just clearing is you still have to go to the actual raid to get the catalyst, so it's not really that big of a deal and brings more people into raids
I will say, I Was able to finish off a couple of red borders from this activity, so I'm pleased with the loot tbh, not to mention the adepts from the triumph claiming and adepts you just get during clears

How to ease yourself into raiding 1. Do root of nightmares. 2. Do a legend nightfall. 3. Do a dungeon. 4. Do a raid.

Hey guys, I had a team of 5 and lfg’d 1 person (most of my fireteam was new to everything). Facilitating patience and just being a genuine person is the way to go. A lot of teaching and getting used to things and even though it took us a while, it was fun the entire time. this pantheon stuff is really fun but just being positive and patient led to us having another friend. Be kind out there. Does not matter how new a person, you’ll figure it out.
Definitely feels like they made “ad clear” a real role lol. Planets can get brutal if you can’t keep up

I think they should have an alternate mode with extinguish active and make it just rain loot. That would be so sick
timer tip for people getting gaze for golgoroth, when golgoroth opens his back you have APPROXIMATELY 10 seconds to grab the gaze. I use this in case I have teammates who have trouble keeping their eye on the timer
I cleared riven LEGIT for the first time yesterday (after about 60+ last wish clears) to prepare for pantheon. Man is it fun!
As someone who has NEVER done VOW or Root, I watched so much on these encounters I feel I could lie to a LFG that I KWTD. Many thanks to your videos and other streamers
Loved the tornado change in planets. As much as I wanna see core mechanics changed in the raid, "minor" stuff like the tornadoes still change how you navigate the encounter enough to be noticeable. Hopefully we see more of that stuff in the later encounters. I'd also love to see more changes like these in the master difficulties
Did my first clear last night. Was very happy to finally get Touch. I have close to 50 clears of Kings Fall (good majority are oryx cp’s) and it still hasn’t dropped. While I’m glad I got the exotic from the new activity, it wasn’t nearly as exciting as having it drop from the end of the raid.
the best thing i found is the solar hunter w knife trick and 2 fragments, the class charge after scorch and after buffing allies, i single handedly kept it at x3 for every encounter that the next team i went w had such a harder time when i didnt use it, made it feel a 1600 raid but w extra steps

A couple of the title requirements should've been to carry people through. Like you said the people that should be doing at it, are not is like trying to learn four raids at once. Under a timer.
I remember my wish sherpa adding hours to our run just so we could do riven legit and it was the most fun I've ever had in a raid.
My only issue with Pantheon isn't the activity itself, clearing it was very fun with the right team! As someone without a team of my own to raid with having to go through LFG to find a team was extermly annoying I think that it could slightly be how other RUclipsrs have been telling new players to do Pantheon as their first raid experiance for the loot. The amount of teams I've joined where more then half don't know what to do was annoying and I think you did the right thing to tell newer players to try other raids before Pantheon. Good video.

I would LOVE to see more Pantheon after FS release
i would love to see a wall between the two sides of the drop down to Riven so that the team is forced to split 3 and 3
I don't mind the plat time resetting because of the adapt it gives. But, it should drop the time each wipe to a certain point. Like 10 seconds or so until it's down 2 mins or something.
The Onslaught armour isnt leaving permanently next expansion. It will return in some form at a later date.
