I have a seminar this Saturday and your video helped me to understand a lot more about Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. I took notes, now time to play with my cam :) THANK YOU!!!
Love the way you breakdown each category. I'm still learning and probably need to watch this video once/twice more so the information can stick. Nonetheless, I'd like your help in taking indoor basketball action photos. I just purchased a Canon EOS Rebel T3i and I'm still learning the functionality of this camera. So, can you recommend the best possible settings to capture all action w/o blur? I have a 18-55, 18-135, & a 75-300. Thanks for your video!
very good video, helped alotQuestion for ya... What setting would you recommend for a church wedding, im fine with outdoor weddings but never done indoor church. Also I wont be using flash if pos
@Caramenne You need to keep your iso under 400 to kill most of the graininess. I use final cut pro are you on a mac or pc. Do manual focus you have way more control hope this helps
THANKS ALOT BRO..I REALLY APPRECIATE IT N UR VID REALLY HELPED ME ALOT..YOUR THE MAN..ANY MORE VIDS? IM A MAJOR IN PHOTOGRAPHY N I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN AS MUCH AS I CAN IF POSSIBLE
thank you for taking the time to do this video. It is over my head, but I think it will make sense as I get used to my camera. How about a video on the Canon sx20 which is the camera I have (lol).
@Caramenne Sony Vages is a nice editor for pc people. Making software would add a cost to the camera plus software like CS5,Light Room,Apature is really the only thing people use edit these days. Blurring a scene is hard with the kit lens unless you are really close to the object.
To answer this question much information is needed. What mode are you shooting in, where is the sun, are you shooting on a sunny day in the shade, are you using an external flash, what lens are you shooting with, etc.... Also, your use of the word dull could mean something different to different people; for example, are the images dull because the image is too bright and washed out, or dull as in underexposed and too dark?
Thanks have any information on how to possiblely shoot Stars/ spaceships with a t2i? I've been seeing tons of non planes in the night sky and want to film them but i have the basic 18-55 kit lens...and i cant see anything in the view finder?
@stevieblunder3 I dont know much about color correction in vages I have never used it I would check out a program magic bullet I believe they make a plug in and there color correction plug in is pretty nice
Hi! Shooting Friday night HS football under those terrible field lights. Using a Cannon RebelXS. Lense is a 28-300. Using a flash but not really helping when it comes to action shots. Pictures usually turn out grainy, blurry and dark.
I would set my ISO two max 800. I would set my aperture to the lowest 3.5 or 4.5 or if you have a lands that goes to a lower aperture. Once you have aperture and ISO set to what you want play around with your shutter and you should be able to get the shot you would like this.
thanks i tried the high apature and 200 shutter speed and it eliminated my motion blur in photos.....but will this still be the same with video settings? Bro your AWESOME!!!!!
extremely helpful but i have a question. i have a 60d and i can take photos at 1/8000. when will i ever need that? also i tried taking photos at 1/8000 and the photo was black. is that because theres not enough time for light to enter?
the lowest apature it goes down to at 18mm is 3.6 as the lens extends the apature will go up. It is not fixed apature lens. So, at 55mm the lowest apature it will go to is 5.6
hi i was just wondering my brothers band are playing next week and i am taking pictures so what settings would i use cause its a dark room with lots of lights on the stage thanks, joe
try using your on bord flash drop your shutter to 1/5 of a second iso start with 200 but you may need to go 400 and f-stop at your lowest witch I believe is 3.5
Hi, im am buying this camera and am planning on using it for making a short video on snowboarding. Do you know what settings would be best (shutter speed, Aperture, and ISO). Keep in mind i will be filming outside on a mountain, so very white and will be fast movement that I'm filming. Any advise will help, thanks
what settings should i use taking portrait photos outside under the sun that will bring out the vibrancy/ colours of an outfit etc mine seem to look really dull !!
Not all ways if your iso is low and it is to bight bring the shutter up but if it is still to dark you can bring the shutter down the lower the shutter the more light but the more blur you get. To get stuff out of focus you need to manually focus
I have the T2I and I'm trying to make music videos that look like Mac Miller music videos. I don;t know how to get that certain look. Do you have any suggestions on Iso, shutter speed, aperture, color correction, or anything like that? I'm new to this :/
i bought a fujifilm hs20 .. ru familiar with how it works? the focus ring doesnt work at all....at full zoom close up, i can hardly get the image to look clear...i need some how to focus tips.
Also I have a problem with film, If im moving the camera around a subject, I get alot of motion blur, How can i eliminate this? Its very annoying and I've watched a ton of videos that say if your shooting 24fps use 50 shutter speed...but thats where im still getting doubling in the video footage...say if i were to follow a subject around!? higher Shutter speed?
QUICK QUESTION. IN YOUR OPINION WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST LENS FOR PORTRAITS N MODELING PHOTOGRAPHY..IM THINK BETWEEN THE LINES OF 85MM TO 135MM BUT IM INDECISIVE PLEASE HELP
@blownaway the lower the aperture the more light and better depth of field like a 2.8 aperture. The higher the aperture the less depth of field but sharper images like an aperture of 16.
I have a seminar this Saturday and your video helped me to understand a lot more about Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. I took notes, now time to play with my cam :)

This was very helpful, thanks alot ♥
A high shutter is great for slow motion video as well for fast moving objects. You will need more light if the shot is dark.
I am def subscribing! thanks so much for explaining it so well! :0)

@zzPSGzz set the shutter to 30 iso 100 and apature I am guessing around 14 maybe higher if you are shooting in the day
Thanks you're awesome and great at explaining things! :)
I'm happy I could help
@BeefyKiller Yes this a universal stander for most cameras
I also have a probably with my camera outside during a nice sunny day...what would be the best settings for film.....?
@soulknk You will need a high iso low apature and a shutter over 300 to 400 it may be to dark though so you will need some light to shoot
I'm shooting out in a field at night. (a short film) lighting using led lights...what settings on the camera do you recomend?? Thanks
