@@GoofyAssChicken420to say that Utopia was the “best” and defined the year is a bit of a interesting statement. did it impact how people viewed music this year? sure. but Utopia isn’t something new, in fact it was a grand compilation of sound from other artists of this year, rather then something he made himself. this is evident with “Meltdown”, “Fein”, and “Topia Twins”, which I would say are probably the flagships of Utopia and it’s “sound”. “Meltdown” was a direct nod and copy of Travis Scott and Drake’s “Sicko Mode” from his last album, so we didn’t see anything new there. “Fein” was just an “opium/vamp” anthem, ripped straight from “vamp” artists who had already made songs exactly like “Fein” before it was released (from artists like Benji, Carti, Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson, and Homixide Gang). “Topia Twins” was just a complete ripoff of the sound that was prevalent found in “Her Loss” and other music Drake and 21 Savage released in 2023, with strong roots to most generic trap songs. I believe every other song directly falls into these 3 subcategories of stolen sounds, made popular by other artists before Utopia came out. however, I can’t deny there is some true art unique to Travis such as “Sirens”, “Modern Jam”, and “Delresto” (which funnily enough are some of the most hated and underrated songs by Travis Scott fans). it’s just clear to me that people prefer “bangers” over actual MC-ing and lyricism, and that’s totally fine! but to rob Killer Mike of his flowers and completely crap over his album is just selfish and rude.
I never disrspected killer mike and the album was good. Also real trvy fans dont think fein or meltdown are even top 5 on utopia. Personally meltdown has zero replay value and topia twins is just ass. The real utopia is Thank God, Til further notice, Sirens and telekinesis. (my eyes too but im talking bout the underrated ones). Its true that killer mike is more of an mc than travis. This album is special to mee bc it shows how travis matures as a person and develops his new sound. I think killer mike might have done a better job if we're talking about performance but travis produced most of the songs on utopia. I just find it more musically impressive and fun to listen mostly because this album has generic trap, some kanye type songs, and crazy feature wchich influence the style of their song.@@vonstr
I’m disappointed in you guys. I loved Travis Scott’s album Utopia but it’s not this groundbreaking revolutionary album that’s a must win album (like TPAB, GKMC, MBDF, etc.) It’s comparable to all the nominations. MICHAEL had better lyrical content and subject matter. Utopia more experimental and production features. Both amazing in its own right. To say Travis Scott was robbed plays in the narrative that Killer Mike didn’t deserve it. This is a win for hip hop and OGs never giving up their dreams, speaking truth to power and empowering his community. That should be celebrated.
Travis Scott was not robbed 💀💀 Michael and KD3 >>>>>>>. Utopia winning over those two albums would have been like Invasion of Privacy winning in 2018. It would have been popularity over quality (although way less questionable than Cardi winning).
Bruh u can’t compare travis winning to invasion of privacy in 2018, Utopia is a great album and is at least on par with the other nominations, but IOP was one of the biggest robberies in the history of the grammies on the same level as maclemore in 2014
That’s what I’m saying lmao these same people say every year who cares about the Grammys then when they fav artist loses they cry about it and discredit the winner😂
As a travis fan, I agree. I was also confused when the fans have been calling out the Grammys as if they aren’t scripted 💀 Eminem said their votes are fake af years ago
Who knows tbh. My guess is that people are just waiting for the one day that the grammy's get it right. The thing is I don't think that anyone would care about the op of the grammys if it wasn't such a prestigious, or highly acclaimed reward source It's like the opinions of music critics/reviewers. No one would give a fuck about any of their opinions but since they has a platform with a decent following/notoriety, it makes it seem like their opinions are worth something
Michael is a very fair winner, I liked Utopia but it is what it is, not much else to say there. I think people need to stop taking the Grammys so seriously, they really don’t matter that much

Killer Mike made a good album, but I’m gonna differ from the crowd and say that Nas should’ve won it. King’s Disease III is one of the best rap albums of the 2020s, and it is a step up over UTOPIA. I think Nas, Travis, and Killer Mike all would’ve earned that win.
Either Metro or Travis should’ve won it, I wouldn’t mind who won out of those 2. For world building and soundscapes, it’s Utopia and for the rest, its Heroes & Villains

'im not mad michael won' .. . 'shoutout to killer mike, we dont wanna take away anything from his win' .... * Names the video 'TRAVIS SCOTT WAS ROBBED' *
MY TAKE: 1- "Best Rap Performance": From a musicality stand point, in comparison to the nominees for "Best Rap Performance" I would say this definitely outshines the other songs as far as being inventive and well crafted, I just listened for the first time and can already see where the disconnect is from people who aren't even aware of who Killer Mike is, and arent able to come up with any genuine reason as to why they think any of the other songs should have won, also not a fan of Future, but I can recognize when Future makes a good song, and I gotta say his vocals really elevated this track to a height that inherently makes it make sense as to why this record won, not to mention 3 Stacks' (dry-return) and this being the only bit of raps we've received from him in a very long time, the choice is pretty obvious... Rich Flex turned into a meme, Barbie song is a cheap cookie cutter gimmick if we're being real & Ice Spice is obviously overrated (she's catchy but not grammy nominee worthy talent-wise yet, she got hella work to do before even considering that as a serious option, but I see potential if she focuses on her craft.) Coi Leray's Players also very cookie cutter and cheap no matter how boppy it might be (I like Coi but we're talking about craftsmanship here so I gotta be honest, but all love). I really dont know why Keem & K Dot are on here for The Hillbillies tbh, good song obviously both delivered well but feels as if there wasn't that much really put into that song, it give more of a "throwaway" fun little idea kind of vibe but not anything to really write home about, just standard "business as usual" kind of song I guess you could say. As far as Black Thought, I just dont think he really belongs in the conversation with "Love Letter" being thoughtful for hip hop, doesn't really scream "GRAMMY" for me, especially not in this category. 2- "Best Melodic Rap Performance": NGL, love Cole, indifferent toward Durk.... THAT SONG IS ASS lmao no way is it comparing to SZA's spacey and outer-worldy delivery on Low, and we cant forget Doja's Attention being one of the best back-pack/boom-bap female lyrical presentations in quite a while with a lack in that economy being overlooked by some of the new coming female artist based off of (and let be real) who can get a RAUNCHY as possible lmao, and both songs featuring 21 are great but as stated before we are talking about musicality here. I would have given this to SZA or Doja, leaning more toward SZA but nonetheless the Cat definitely made a statement with Attention. 3- "Best Rap Song": I think people dont understand that there is a difference between something that is dumbed down to the point that "everyone" thoroughly enjoys these songs, and the mastery it takes to make the combinations of sounds and execution of not only lyrical ability, but finesse, its just too clean to not see how Killer Mike won this specific category, I like the songs on this list, but if im being honest, the only song on this list thats even worth mention is Doja once again with Attention, no only did she have a delivery that not only make the listener believe what she is saying with her unwavering and unfiltered confidence in her verses, but the complete melting of the soundscapes infused with her breathy almost "angelic" melodies on the hook cause for a nice mix of excellence. I'm okay with this outcome so 1 for GRAMMY on this one in my opinion, it could've went to either or and I would've been okay with that. 4- "Best Rap Album": oh... my... sweet... baby... Jesus.... this is actually the only one that DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE! It's quite laughable really. I can respect the sentiments toward Killer Mike, and no I have not listened to his album and most likely won't. I really only have to say 1 thing, UTOPIA was by far THE MOST creatively delivered, mind bending albums in A WHILLEEEE. With Travis having produced most of the project, the beats alone not even dropping in the ways that you would expect them to, they sort of morph and change into alternate versions of themselves throughout each track delivered the whole way through the project seamlessly, and with an insane feature list on top with basically everyone HOLDING IT DOWN and following the guidance of Scott's vision, and even the cover of the album being a silhouetted Travis falling into what's seems to be his very own Dark UTOPIA.... man.... some niggas just can't win for losing... feel real sad for Travis, I know performing just made it worse because Travis and his team definitely KNEW they were gonna win (in their heads, obviously) even to the point where the pulled out the Vamp King to perform when he's never really seen working with people just shows how much most of us believed it would most likely be UTOPIA on top.... only thing left to say is HEROES & VILLAINS was the only other true contender on this list so either of these 2 winning would've been good. But man, it makes underground artist like myself really lose a bit of faith in the possibility of winning a GRAMMY one day. Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed reading my thesis lmao twas' fun, check out ITSJUSTKID if y'all ever wanna try some new "closet-studio" music out, I hear I'm pretty decent, hoping to make it one day... so yea... bye
"A singular experience that you can't get from any other rap album that's ever existed" is CRAZY💀 ..you don't need to meat ride the guy to praise him. It was good that's it and the other nominees were too if not better.

Most comments are missing the point. When you have an album that comes out and has a massive wave like Utopia, the best selling hip hop album and was pretty much the consensus pick amongst hip hop fans, but then stiff him by making him perform knowing in advance that Travis wasn’t gonna win. Eminem said it, “stop using us as the selling point of your show, then stiff arming us every single time.” Of course this isn’t as bad as Invasion of Privacy or Macklemore, but this is the culmination of years of disrespect from the Grammys that goes much deeper than simply who won or not

Killer Mike album is Incredible. Well deserved!
not deserved. utopia might be more mainstream but its literally better.

They are bugging they always hate on the Grammys for picking the most popular pick too 😂 now they should’ve picked utopia cuz it was the bigger moment
Not everyone is especially happy about that category.
Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed reading my thesis lmao twas' fun, check out ITSJUSTKID if y'all ever wanna try some new "closet-studio" music out, I hear I'm pretty decent, hoping to make it one day... so yea... bye
