Funny how all the bands back then were sporting the Beatle's look. Regardless, Zombies had their own sound. Well-crafted song, and the vocals go beyond mere top-40 fair.
Interesting note, after the Zombies broke up (just two albums), two fake Zombie bands went on tour. One of those bands had Dusty Baker and Frank Beard. Yeah two thirds of ZZ Top. Imagine that.
Dave Clark 5 is the interesting oddball - but not their music, but their business acumen. Dave Clark owns all the songs, and from Day One. This wasn't immediately understood but within a few years, it was - no entity benefits without Dave Clark and his pals benefiting. However - look around now. How widespread is his music? Almost nothing 'escapes' into the light of day, or dance-halls at night. There was probably an effort by the media-groups to punish him for this, too - "You've never let us benefit so fine - no access to your music on our channels." They had some great hits and most folks think the singer and the most-photo'd person is Dave Clark. Nope. That's Mike Smith, who died a few years ago. He's one of those great rock n roll voices, too.
This song is from 1965, when I was seven. As I watched I realized the catchy tune was part of the day from back when people where a lot more physically active and affordability over convinience ruled people's lives. Back when people worked up a sweat everyday because of labor , not the gym, music from the radio kept everyone going.
Yeah they only songs I like by them are this one, Time Of The Season, She's Not There and I Love You, but these are also some of my favorite songs ever lol
When the Zombies had a good song, it was pretty darn good. Listening to them always takes me back to that time - youth, the sun, no real responsibilities, playing with my cousins, days at the lake and this playing on the radio.
Wonderful Colin Bluestone! He went solo and recorded 'Say you don't mind', great strings on this track and the soulful 'I Don't Believe in Miracles'' great keyboards, but the vocals are so smooth and have such meaning. Stirs up a lot of emotions, growing up listening to these when life was much simpler. It would be great if you played these Chod, preferably the latter.
I just miss the way groups dressed and perform...so dignified and regal.....The Zombies....are all that.....not to mentioned among the gods of Rock n' Roll!!! The 60's MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I saw them in 1968 in a small teenage club, cost $3 where normally it was around a dollar. We were very excited to see such a name band in a place like this!
Consider 3 more from the same era all sung by another British Invasion group, Them, featuring a very young Van Morrison. A great vibe. Baby Please Don't Go, Gloria, Mystic Eyes.
They peaked with Time of the Season ....but they had a lot of sleepers and Odyssey and Oracle is a really, really good album. Try Care of Cell 44 for one of their weirder topics (writing to his girlfriend who is in prison?) and This Will Be Our Year for a great "walking out of the church" song to be played at yer basic hipster wedding. They do still tour - it's kind of amazing, after all these years, that Colin Blunstone (the singer) sounds VERY MUCH the same as he does here.
this song sounds like a good extended jazzy jam would be in order for a live performance. It has good chords that remind me of an elegant cheese and wine expo just like you said. Sounds like a subdued party at the Playboy mansion ha ha.
Funny that you want to hear on vinyl. There are certain early to mid 60s songs that I don't like in stereo - the singles came out in mono and that's when I fell in love with them and how I still want to hear them, lol
These guys had a few incredible songs. She's Not There and Time of the Season are classics too. Honestly wish I had taken more time to hear their other stuff. Thise are just the hits I know and they're great. Absolutely agree. It's better on vinyl. Anything with a blues or folk influence, especially folk, is better and more full and vital sounding on vinyl.
It's too bad the Zombies were only around for a couple of years or so. Their album "Odessey And Oracle" is now considered a '60's classic. I've always found this group to be very inventive and under rated. They could have done so much. Rod Argent later went on to form Argent (Hold Your Head Up) and Colin Blunstone sang the lead vocals on a number of songs for The Alan Parsons Project
The Zombies reconstituted in 2004 and have been touring and recording new material ever since. They're working on a new album right now and will be broadcasting a live concert in the fall from Abbey Road Studios . Check them out at: thezombiesmusic.com
Hey thanks for reacting to a Zombies song. The Zombies started in 1961 and they're still playing and recording new music. Check out a 21st Century Zombies song; Breathe Out Breathe In. I know you and your audience will like it too.
Definately the sixties. Try Gary Pucket and the Union Gap, Jan and Dean, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Freddy and the Pacemakers. A lot of this same kind of sound.
Hey Chod, could you please react to some more Alan Parsons Project. "Old and Wise" features the lead singer of the Zombies, Colin Blunstone. Also, "Dream within a Dream/ the Raven" listened to together, would also be a great one.
When I was young by Eric Burdon I met my first love at 13 she was brown and I was pretty green and I learned quite a lot when I was young when I was young
Monterey are you ever Burton please if you want to know the truth in life don't let music pass you by and you know I would not lie no I would not lie no I would not lie down in Monterey

Beatles suck
Beatles ,Stones ,Kinks ,Animals, Zombies, Dave Clark 5 , Manfred Mann, Hermans Hermits , Jerry and the pacemakers. Petula Clark, etc
AKA, the British Invasion. Growing up near Detroit and listening to Motown & Doo woop music, it was hard at first.

they didn't have many great songs, but the ones they had were off the charts. Love this one.
Umm...sure they did. Have you ever heard the Odessey and Oracle album? One of the best albums of all time.
Yeah they only songs I like by them are this one, Time Of The Season, She's Not There and I Love You, but these are also some of my favorite songs ever lol
@@tricko8000 you should listen to Hung Up On A Dream and You Make Me Feel good Ooh also. Girl Help Me!!!
When the Zombies had a good song, it was pretty darn good. Listening to them always takes me back to that time - youth, the sun, no real responsibilities, playing with my cousins, days at the lake and this playing on the radio.
Stop.
The Zombies were part of the British Invasion of the 60s. They were popular.
the Zombies is one of my favorite 60's bands.
Always loved the Zombies and felt they were underrated.
"What's your name? Who's your daddy?" - The Zombies (It's called "Time of the Season".
Amazing band. They still tour! Colin’s voice is so good and the musicianship is on pointe!
How about trying The Turtles' "Eleanor." It's the best pop song from the 60s that wasn't written by the Beatles. IMHO. ✌
One of the truly great British Classic Rock 60s Groups.
Wonderful Colin Bluestone! He went solo and recorded 'Say you don't mind', great strings on this track and the soulful 'I Don't Believe in Miracles'' great keyboards, but the vocals are so smooth and have such meaning. Gotta do She's not There next.
Yes, that somng is killer
When you see a rock group that looks like they do, it's 60's 100%
Yes yes yes the 60s. My generation
Thank you. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
the zombies,( I love you,) is a great one!, and (time of the season)
This is a super oldie.. I haven't heard this in a zillion years.
My favorite song from them. It never gets attention.
Zombies highly unrated fantastic sound!!!
Digging up gold from the past Chod. Incredible band!
They still tour and put on a great show.
The Animals, and The Zombies deserve alot more credit man....
THE ZOMBIES "SHE'S NOT THERE"..AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC..TRUTH!!
Rod Argent ( keyboards ) was the driving force behind this band.
Zombies time in the radio waves was short, but extremely sweet! 1966 -1969
They had a great non-album single 'I Love You' that didn't chart anywhere, it deserved better.
One of my all time favorites.
I saw them in 1968 in a small teenage club, cost $3 where normally it was around a dollar. We were very excited to see such a name band in a place like this!
one of my fav old songs listen to it it will stick in your head great song
FINALLY someone reacts to this great song!!! Thank you thank you thank you, Chod!!
You’re spot on about the vinyl Chod, nice work.
Consider 3 more from the same era all sung by another British Invasion group, Them, featuring a very young Van Morrison. A great vibe.
Baby Please Don't Go,
Gloria,
Mystic Eyes.

Sixties music had a certain sound because they were still in the process of inventing rock and roll.
this song sounds like a good extended jazzy jam would be in order for a live performance. It has good chords that remind me of an elegant cheese and wine expo just like you said. Sounds like a subdued party at the Playboy mansion ha ha.

You are awesome thank you!
Colin Blunstone, the localist is a gentleman. We saw them in concert about 3 yrs ago. They were tight and talented
Colin also sang with the Alan Parsons project
Love this song, it’s a shame it’s so short!
Great vocals!
The Zombies' break through hit was a song called She's Not There.
Got this one right on every level. Good job.
By the way I love your honesty , and your young knowledge on music from yesteryears 👍
so smooth
Tell her no because I want to tell her yes ... I want her just for me ✌🏼

Yep, 60's alright.
Oops keyboard playing up ...should have read Colin Bluestone!😟
Always liked this one.... check out Bus Stop by The Hollies
Hey thanks for reacting to a Zombies song. The Zombies started in 1961 and they're still playing and recording new music.
Check out a 21st Century Zombies song; Breathe Out Breathe In. I know you and your audience will like it too.
Yesterday when I was young by Roy Clark
Give the Troggs a try. A 60s group that had several hits. Good product bruh.
"Love Is All Around"
part of the British Invasion
yes this is a 60s song
Definately the sixties. Try Gary Pucket and the Union Gap, Jan and Dean, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Freddy and the Pacemakers. A lot of this same kind of sound.
Great suggestions! But it's Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddie and the Dreamers.
@@dunismith3045 LOL! I even looked it up. Old enough to remember when they came out, just not the important stuff! Thanks for the correction.
@@cindyknouff1724 I just don’t want to confuse the young’uns when they go looking for these guys! ☮️
Not only would I prefer this song on vinyl but in mono as well for a fuller sound-sometimes in stereo songs from the 60s lose their oomph.
Hey Chod, could you please react to some more Alan Parsons Project. "Old and Wise" features the lead singer of the Zombies, Colin Blunstone. Also, "Dream within a Dream/ the Raven" listened to together, would also be a great one.

The people came to listen. Some of them came to play Others gave flowers away. Down in Monterey.

@@31carrier Thank You.
Also, I'd like to see you reacted to blues traveler, the hook.
I'd highly suggest that you do "Care of Cell 44"--one of their best songs and I think you'd like it.
That one's my favorite, his girlfriend is getting out of prison. Why was she in there? We don't know.
Love child by Diana Ross
Not again. Blunstone! Third time lucky. Time for a new laptop.
If you liked this you should react to the Buckinghams -- Hey Baby; Don't You Care; Kind of a Drag; Susan.
I'll always prefer vinyl.
Nobody is on the Babys and it's a shame. May I suggest Midnight Rendezvous.
I love The Babys

Please react to The Zombies' "Care of Cell 44"!!
