One of our best carp fishing trips ever!

- Over the festive season we visited Aqua Villa at Grootdraai Dam near Standerton. While we were there the dam was very full, but the fishing turned out being fantastic. We probably had one of our best carp fishing trips ever.
We were told it's a typical Vaal Dam venue with lots of small fish that constantly bite but we experienced the opposite. We caught dozens of decent sized carp, a few monster barbel, and many beautiful yellowfish.
It was simply great and we hope to return one day.

Great video again guys, love the policeman action, give us more please!! I think this is going to be a perfect venue for catching up with old friends in May. Additionally I think the fish looking a bit slim in the belly shows there is plenty competition for food in the dam, maybe why you had so much action straight off the bat. We get this a lot in overpopulated fisheries in the UK. Just a thought. Keep up the great videos.

Thanks a lot Bear! Yeah we noticed that too, some of them were quite thin... The flooding maybe made food scarce. Anyway, hopefully we managed to feed some of them :-)

Thanks a lot! We mainly papgooi, but we do try spesie every now and then, especially at Rietvlei. The thing is we have never really had much success with it in the past, even though we know it's the best way to catch bigger fish...

Only problem is that short rods and centre-pin reels are no longer used, which makes playing the fish too easy. ..

Thanks! No not at all, you can keep what you catch, we just prefer to release.
