Are you using rest strokes for the melodic line played by the A finger ? Originally I was taught to play it that way. Years later I read where that was discouraged since it prevented the arpeggiated notes on the second string from being sustained'

Thanks for this Gohar. It is a challenging piece for me. My teacher said this was RSCM (UK) Grade 3 at one time. I find that hard to believe. The Sor/Segovia No 5 in B minor (Op 35 no22) is Grade 5 now I believe and it is nowhere near as tricky as this. It is tricky especially the crescendo in the second half of the piece with a very busy left hand. The LH is where the difficulty lies for me and apparently for many other of his students too. Some advice there would have been great.I am lucky that I took to the right hand quite quickly and get good tone. Getting a strong, flexible lh very different. I have been playing just under three yesrs. Thanks for the advice. I have got somewhere with this but it took me months and months.

hey! how are you doing right now? if you need some tips, try just clipping them "on point" (not that short, not that big), do some slurs, left hand scales, avoid using a pick in general. it may help you develop a good fingering (if you're a true beginner, try playing spanish romance, it's the best for your arpeggios)! 😉☺️

Hello. Gohar. I hope you can answer my question. I am a 57-year-old man who loves classical guitar. Do you think that studying Carcassi lessons and others Maestro guitar etudes, I would learn to play such a sublime instrument? I want to play Tarrega, Bach y many other wonderful guitar music authors. I practically study by myself. I appreciate your wise advice regarding my interest in learning to play the classical guitar.

When I learned this Etude 30 years ago, my teacher told me to play the melody with supported stroke. I prefer that until today because it gives the melody an even larger tone than just emphasising it or turning the nail for a softer attack.
