    Hey Ace, Great photos, I haven't tried xp2 I am a delta person myself, but I might grab a roll of it next time I shoot just to see for myself.. Glad that you got away for a bit by yourself, one of my joys is that ample opurtunioty given to me bu my partner to travel around and photograph. being out bush there are many place to explore, at the moment I am exploring the Murrumbidgee river.. And there is a heck of a lot of that to see and it will keep me inspired for agers.. Keep up the videos I enjoy them immensely and it always great to see another photographers insights

      Cherrs man. I took a roll of FP4 the other week. I've been self developing but haven't got the process quite right yet.

    G'day mate. Thanks for the vid. I came across you when I was searching for people who are using this film. Mainly because I've just ordered a stack of it. I'm on the Pacific coast of Chiba, Japan, about an hour and a half from Tokyo. So fairly remote film stock is really bloody expensive and processing is even more so. So I'm planning to do some black and white processing at home and for ease and cost I'm going to be interested to see what my shots look like after C41 processing.

    I've been shooting Ilford XP2 for years and have run it through every film camera I've ever owned. Absolutely love the stuff, particularly behind vintage Leica or Takumar glass.

      Im pretty impressed with it mate. Will be interesting to test it out on an SLR where I can control the shadows a bit more. But I'm really happy with what I got.
      Mmm also leica glass...

    That was a great spot for photography. I particularly liked that abandoned service station at 1:59. Made me want to jump in the car and head out that way immediately!
    I feel like the photos have all been printed too bright - they've brought up the shadows so much that the images look washed out, and it loses that contrast you were after in the first place. The blackest black is just a dark grey, so it's hard to know how the film has gone capturing the scenes, as the processing has let it down. Do you develop your own, or get them done somewhere? Might be worth looking into setting up your own little darkroom if you don't process your own, so you can control that processing side of things. I think the film has probably exposed well, but it's just been brought up too much when printed. The photos seem to have all the information across the range from dark to bright that they could come out much better when given a bit more darkroom love.
    Haha, didn't expect to see myself in this video! Glad you're open to all kinds of feedback.

      Youre my #1 critic, and I can't thank you enough Adam! Credit where its due haha!
      I got these developed through camerahouse @ loganholme. Self developing film is on the cards- i just need to find myself a sugar daddy to fund it all haha!!!
      As always Adam i appreciate your feedback!

    I really like this selection of photos - quite pensive and reminiscent of days gone by. Had that 1940s feel - like an old movie, or a time when the pace was slower and details were more important than action. I love it - moody, broody and, dare I say? romantic ?
    Keep shooting!

    Very cool! I’m gonna have to try this film. I think point and shoot is a great way to test the film without too much variation so you can see exactly what it’s like. Nice one!

    I shot a roll of XP2 at iso 200 and processed in c-41 chems. I found the film reacted better in full sun than bright overcast skies. But on the whole the results were kind of flat. I'll another roll at box speed to see the difference. But it looks to me that it's a film stock that craves lots of light

    • @acecreates
      @acecreates  2 года назад

      Yes totally, I agree with that assessment.
      Do you self develop your film?

    XP-2 also looks fabulous in black & white chemistry. Better even than in C-41. Try it, you will like it!

    Personally I think XP2 is better developed in B&W processing chemicals because imho c41 can leave the image a bit flat. I prefer a bit more contrast although I understand your images were shot on a rainy day. I do understand the convenience of C41 processing is you don't develop yourself.

    • @acecreates
      @acecreates  2 года назад +1

      I've just started to self develop.. I'll give it a go!

      @@acecreates in my opinion that is half the fun of film. Not hard but you need a scanner or to use a digital camera.

    • @acecreates
      @acecreates  2 года назад

      @@acecreates I wish. I use an Epson V600 and am very happy with the results. There are higher end scanners but the price goes up exponentially.
