I think any other Chinese language that isn't Mandarin is just harder to learn and acquire. Even when using another Chinese language, the written standard is unfortunately Mandarin, which means they passively learn Mandarin by sight, but not necessarily know how to correspond Mandarin into another Chinese Language. So, if someone learns a Chinese language that isn't Mandarin, we have to learn two sets of vocabulary and sometimes grammar.

I started to learn Mandarin by myself and it's not that bad ;)
I actually think the grammar is the easiest I've seen so far.
Writing is hard at the beginning until you realise that there are signs in the signs and that you only have to remember those.... but it's actually hard to write a sentence out of your mind, because you learn to recognise the sign and read it but you can't remember the small details to write it down 😅.
I know everyone is afraid of the tones and yes, to here the differences it takes a while and there will be things misspoken, but you have to learn it in every other language as well.
I love the logic behind Mandarin.
I'm German and I know a lot people do struggle with our articles der, die, das, dieses, dessen, dem, den, ...
    and our changing verbs...
Not using the write article can change the meaning of the word or make is singular/plural...
Those problems don't exist in Mandarin 😉
