I think any other Chinese language that isn't Mandarin is just harder to learn and acquire. Even when using another Chinese language, the written standard is unfortunately Mandarin, which means they passively learn Mandarin by sight, but not necessarily know how to correspond Mandarin into another Chinese Language. So, if someone learns a Chinese language that isn't Mandarin, we have to learn two sets of vocabulary and sometimes grammar.

I started to learn Mandarin by myself and it's not that bad ;) I actually think the grammar is the easiest I've seen so far. Writing is hard at the beginning until you realise that there are signs in the signs and that you only have to remember those.... but it's actually hard to write a sentence out of your mind, because you learn to recognise the sign and read it but you can't remember the small details to write it down 😅. I know everyone is afraid of the tones and yes, to here the differences it takes a while and there will be things misspoken, but you have to learn it in every other language as well. I love the logic behind Mandarin. I'm German and I know a lot people do struggle with our articles der, die, das, dieses, dessen, dem, den, ... and our changing verbs... Not using the write article can change the meaning of the word or make is singular/plural... Those problems don't exist in Mandarin 😉
Yes, I'm learning mandarin and i find the grammar quite easy. The difficult things are pronunciation and writing (to me), but personally I'm not going to learn writing 😂
All languages are hard for me . Chinese is hard for somebody is because even though you know how it pronounced but you just don’t know how to spell and write it correctly, that’s why Chinese is difficult. But for some other people who think Chinese is easy is because they love the language and willing to explore more about it. Making them improve and improve and that’s why they good.😊( my own opinion, no offense)

And I heard people say Vietnamese is harder 😂 so I guess it depends on your background.
