I think Jeremy said that Jasmine killed her little brother due to the fact that child killers aren't favored in prison. So he was looking out for himself. He didn't care about Jasmine.

So true. I understand she was 12, and I guess you could say that she didn’t understand the gravity of the situation and thought by killing someone it feels like it does in the movies. I don’t think she realised what the implications of that are in real life. So I think that’s as part of it. But no matter how angry I got at my parents at 12 years old, I would never ever dream of killing them, let alone planning their murder and then carrying it out and acting like nothing had happened after. She is defiantly very mentally disturbed. And although the grooming wouldn’t have helped and would have just made that worse and distorted her reality ever more, she defiantly had deep rooted issues in the first place.

Canadian justice system is awful. Recently a 14 year old murdered another boy from school, at school. He got 4 years in jail and 3 year probation. And by time his sentencing happened he was already in for 2 years and they are calling that "time served" toward the 4 year. I’m glad she was able to be rehabilitated but I think it’s an outrage that she got this special treatment and Gypsy Rose didn’t. Gypsy was horrifically abused entire life by her mother and saw no other way out. She also didn’t physically do anything herself. I’m not saying Gypsy is all innocent because she’s not but she definitely deserves better.

    • @shelbylewington3108

Gypsy Rose also took place in the United States, where as this one happened in Canada. There's different legislation.

    • @YouRemindMeOfTheBabe.
      @YouRemindMeOfTheBabe. 2 года назад +41

Gypsy's boyfriend also agreed to do it because he "always wanted to see what it was like to kill someone". He also told Gypsy she would have to allow him to rape her as payment. She cried while her mom was being stabbed, and she went through horrendous pain while he violently raped her. So, yeah, Gypsy was definitely desperate to get away from her abusive mom.
Jasmine is straight up a piece of crap that desired to kill her eight year old brother and laugh about it afterwards. She had absolutely no reason to kill her family. Gypsy had tried running away before, got caught, and was handcuffed to her bed and given no food and water for three days. Clearly Gypsy had an excuse whereas this psycho did not. That sick freak, Jasmine, and the abused girl Gypsy should have gotten opposite sentences.

There's also a good chance it was also because she was legally an adult while Jasmine was 12 and being groomed by an adult
Compared to Gypsy though, this case just rubs me the wrong way with what they were both charged with...Like...it just feels quite wrong? I can't explain it?
Maybe it's because, compared to Jasmine, Gyspy was done quite dirty since she met multiple doctors saying that even after her mom's murder, she didn't want to stand from her wheelchair since she was still worried what she would do to her...And she never got help for that. She should've at least got that, even if she got the same sentence

As a former mall rat goth girl, I can attest that there are always creepy older guys in the group. This case is heartbreaking.

Same here, i had a similar type of group and there were always guys age 20 to 25 who 15, 16 year old me thought were the coolest. Having grown up now i realised, they were friendless outcasts within their own age group, and possibly on the prowl for younger people. I'm glad nothing I'm aware of happened amongst my peers, but it goes to show how common it is amongst youths..

I was homeschooled through middle school and went to high school at 9th grade, age 14/15. I had my best friend from down the road and the rest of our group were all the "weirdos" or "misfits". Amongst us were the goths and in that group was a second year senior. In my naivety, I thought that meant he was in the smart/advanced classes. In reality, it meant he was probably about 20. I started calling him my boyfriend and we would make out and whatnot. I was still a virgin at this point, so I never thought about sex. One time at a school sports event, he talked me into going in to a stall in the men's room with him. I started to feel uncomfortable with the whole situation. Luckily, someone came in and said something and it gave me a moment of clarity and I left as fast as possible. After that I distanced myself and shortly after that he wasn't at school anymore and I never found out what happened. I realize now as a grown woman how awful all of that is and how it could have been so much worse.
To whoever walked in that bathroom that day, I thank you!

Spoiled kids hate their parents even more than neglected abused kids do. I was beaten regularly as a kid while my younger sister was spoiled & could do no wrong. She's the most mean, cruel, miserable & jealous person I know. It did not serve her one bit & she hates & resents my parents more than I ever did. And as far as we know, she’s never reoffended. I will totally retract my statement if she ever reoffends, but I’d like to believe that there is some good in the world, and that rehabilitation *is* possible. Because she was *allegedly* not able to finish out the murder.

I still remember this case so vividly. The youth criminal justice act here in Canada is a joke. I'm a firm believer that if you're old enough to understand the consequences, you should be tried as an adult. At 12, you are VERY aware of the fact that murder is wrong. ESPECIALLY since she is the one who initiated the whole thing, she knew what she was doing. Yes, she may have been being groomed. Yes, she may have been influenced by a man twice her age. But at the end of the day, *he* isn't the one who proposed the plan, *she* was. The fact that she's out there and I could have walked past her in the street at some point makes me feel physically ill. It's great that she got the help she needed through therapy, but she should be spending her life behind bars. This wasn't just some petty crime or even just manslaughter - this was a premeditated triple homicide and should have been treated as such.

I think the issue with the justice system, and why criminals reoffend, is because people think the justice system should be focused only on punishment, I agree criminals shouldn’t enjoy their stay, should should want to get out, but they should also be granted some resources so that they can stay out. You can’t just lock every single bad person up forever, because people ( not everyone but a lot) can change if you actually provide the tools to do it. Besides she was diagnosed with a disorder that would only get worse if she wasn’t monitored so it’s good that she was in an institution for atleast part of her sentence, otherwise she would have only worse.

These friendships are about talking about shared interests (books, music, movies, etc) and honestly it's good for kids to have adults outside of their parents that they trust and can go to for advice, especially if their parents aren't good. Werewolf lore, in ancient times, was the idea that you changed into a werewolf under the full moon, being ravenous & full of rage. Some believed that a magic belt of wolf skin or a literal wolf skin could be worn, allowing you to change. They attacked people, ate children etc. More modern beliefs maintained the full moon aspect, but it was just harder for them to control themselves, but they suffer from rage problems. I love that she changed, shows remorse for what she's done, but I still absolutely despise her. She took the life of three innocent, loving people. The people who raised her and were with her for 12 years of her life. For that, you don't deserve forgiveness.
And the fact that her extended family forgive and love her disgusts me. She stabbed and killed an 8 year old child then laughed about it, how can you forgive someone for that? Shame on her extended family and shame on her. I hope she lives with this guilt for the rest of her undeserving life.
Edit: I also forgot to mention that the fact that her criminal record history was wiped is just disgusting. A real slap in the face to her victims. Her criminal record shouldve never been wiped.

I think it’s great she’s changed, but there wasn’t enough punishment for what she has done. There should have been some time in prison and rehabilitation. Criminal record shouldn’t have been wiped she happily murdered her younger brother and laughed about it. It’s not fair she gets to live her life as normal when her family are dead because of her

I can count on one hand how many cases have shattered my heart so badly that I still think about them all the time and cry. They all involve the death of children. This one made that list.
I have zero, ZERO sympathy for that girl. And justice was absolutely not served. I shrieked when I heard her record was wiped. That is so devastatingly unfair to that poor, sweet little boy that was brutally murdered. The parents, too, of course, but one can imagine that, as loving parents, they would have wanted her to be “rehabilitated” and still have a life eventually. But to murder a helpless, innocent little child...she should be burning in hell right now and for eternity.
