Is this historic locomotive still in operation 9 years later.
Yes, it's a continuation of the Hungarian 490 class under the classification 490 2000 series, built in Romania, and brought to Hungary in the 90s I believe.
@@robertbalazslorincz8218 Thank you. I have enjoyed watching, and rewatching, these videos although I'm sure that the amount of timber being cut would give certain Brussels-based bureaucrats apoplexy!
@@robt2151 in Hungary, there are some villages that have to use wood to fuel large boilers that heat water that they use to heat up rooms with/get hot water for showers. One example is Pénzpatak in the Bükk Mountains.
@@robertbalazslorincz8218 I have driven the M3 a number of times but otherwise I know nothing about that area of Hungary. Google Streetview shows it to have some well-established woodland - it looks very attractive. Where I live the vast majority of houses are heated with wood, and many schools too. @@robt2151 We have beautiful forests, but they were also much more beautiful and large until we lost two-thirds of our country's territory after the First World War. Perhaps the worst part is that one-third of our people are stranded outside the borders.

Well, the 'standards' here in Eastern Europe are way lower. Also, this narrow gauge railway is privately owned, not by the state railways (simular to most NG lines in the UK except lower quality track, bigger loading gauge, and longer, heavier trains).
