🤞🏼Nicole! The one in the seedling cup, I think, stands a good chance now.... the one in ICU, time will tell. So strange to be so set in one way that I could not see the trees in the forest! Hope that I changed things with enough time on their 'clock'! Thank you so much for also watching this video, Nicole 🙏🏼🥰🌸
Good thing you re-thought the potting conditions. Cattleya rex isn't the easiest one to care for. It seems to come into the Cattleya dowiana category. It likes steady temperatures and light hours all year round and seems to hate wet roots. that's why I mounted mine. Thanks for organizing this carecollab update.
Hi Marc! 🤗💐 I am so glad I did as well, and it was really a curve ball moment, when I was editing the video I had filmed. I feel a lot better now, and am almost certain that one piece will pull through. I am sure that they struggled with the F bomb and that has not progressed since the copper treatment. The roots on the one piece look the best I have ever seen this orchid produce. So.... I will keep the faith, and hope that in a future update, I can say LOOK!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🤩 you see, my dowiana is going nuts in the pot and growing incredibly well, no wet dry cycle. I am sure that rex can do that too, I just need me some healthy plants to make it happen. I am confident about at least one piece, and look forward to seeing a root or 2 coming towards the edge of the cup 🤞🏼🙌🏼 thank you so much for reaching out, it was nice that we had some other channels to join us 😉🌸
The new set up in RO water will work. You can also stop everyday fertigation also, at least for a month. Spraying with pure water will work wonders. Happy Gardening, Nina
Hello Jose 🤩💐 I feel much better about it! I will not be fertilizing at this point in time, Jose... not until I see the roots down in the pot and hopefully the second piece will also grow some roots soon 🤞🏼 thank you so much for watching, Jose!! I wish you a great Tuesday 🌸
🌸🥷🏼Trish San! 😍🙌🏼💐 who was that smart guy with the funky hairdo?? 🤔😂 indeed!! That is the definition of insanity and then... click.... so strange that it took me this long to get out of my funk with this orchid and do what I do 'in my sleep' with others! Hope that the intervention isn't too late though. 🤞🏼thank you so much for watching, Trish! Hope your Monday was nothing short of awesome 🌸🥷🏼❤️
I think your on the right track with Cattleya Rex. I had to do the same thing with several of my Cattleya. They made it through, but one I lost. Good luck 🍀👍🤗
Hi Shirley 🤩💐 thank you so much for your vote of confidence with what I decided to do 🤞🏼suddenly I don't feel that despair anymore, at least for the one piece that is potted up. Since 2018 this was the first time I felt that its going to be ok. 😅now, if I am going to loose both pieces, I feel that I have done my best and will try again if I can source a healthy rex. Thank you for watching, Shirley 🤗 wishing you a fabulous Tuesday 🌸
🦒🌪️🌬️🍃!!! Same crazy wind here too on that day everything being blown away. Much better now... It certainly happens to me, thinking direction changes right after I put my thoughts into words, usually talking to somebody... I trust they will pull through in the new set up, keeping my 🤞🤞🍀🍀. They could also be less vigorous plants, the quality of the plants makes a lot of differance...If someone can make them grow well is you though!! Best of luck in the process !!!! Happy start to the week amiga and vecina favorita ❤️😍🤗
FFF 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰😍💐 good evening, meine liebe Freundin! 🤗 finally I had a day without that going on ... and, there was silence beyond the hedge for the most part, so.... I could flush without my masks being blown everywhere and film film film! If the gardener wants to use his noisy toys for 72 hrs, be my guest! I don't need to film for a long time, IF there is nothing going on in my collection. But, wait... something happened today and it is so pretty! My speciosa x violacea opened today 🤩🤩 so I do need 10 minutes of silence tomorrow 😅 these guys are from Schwerter and were in the same box as the Frances Fox... 🤯so, if I nuked any F material with the massive copper dose I did on the previous CareCollab, then... I am hopeful! The roots on the one piece, are the best roots I have ever seen from this orchid. I have hope for one piece! 🤞🏼 thank you so much for your kind comment, amiga, and for taking the time to watch! Really hope that you had a great day, despite getting blown away 🙄 Have a relaxing evening, vecina favorita ❤️🌸🥰
Is it something. Glad to know I am not the only one whom gets mind blocks! That is why I converse with others and when they say 💡 and your like, why did I not think of that! I did that before and it worked, where is my brain! 🤣 I have a zygo Michael gave me. It's potted in moss. It's not doing anything. Just living. I can't wait to switch it to husk!!!! Watch it change everything for this plant!!!! I have done this so many times. Just that tiny difference can make all the difference 👍 good luck my dear.
Hello lovely orchid lady! 🥰💐 thank you so much for letting me know that I am not the only one that it happens to! Thinking of my rexes over night, after editing... dang, I could not wait until the morning and then I had to wait a little longer until things got quieter on the other side of the hedge, but, I feel a lot better by 'going back to my roots' ... incredible how it clicks with so many other cases, and there is one case that one has that donkey moment 😅 I hope the change is not too late, I think one piece will be fine and if the other one starts to grow roots ... wow! That will be 3 years of mind block to get to this point 🤯😅 thank you for watching, Paula and for leaving me an encouraging comment! 🙏🏼🥰🌸
Goodluck, Nina! I hope they push through because their blooms are lovely. I am so new to this hobby (1st anniversary in September) that I don't have my own hamster-wheel to spin yet 😂. For your other rex in leca, I was thinking if it would have been better to pot her lower to create more humidity? 🤔 Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm constantly learning. Blessed Sunday to you.
HI Amerizza 😍💐 well, this video, if nothing else, can be a little hint hint nudge nudge that a hamster wheel does not even need to 'move in' 😅 it is not something that I would recommend anyone get 😬 I am very concerned about the new growth, Amerizza,... this is not the same scenario as with the other ones that I keep lower and raise up slowly... there are no storage organs it can rely on, so, the roots need to be in the leca asap, and I do not want to move her anymore for at least a year. The other cases, the orchid has more to work with and I can jostle them around a little and raise them up as the roots grow. Not with the piece that is in the leca now. Pot up in it's final position, put on a shelf, do not move, flush in situ... no leca abrasions on the root tips, and now, we wait! I am hoping to see one of the roots growing in such a way that we can see it in the leca. 🤞🏼 I hope that I could clear up why I did what I did in this case, and hope that I am not too late with the intervention 🤞🏼thank you so very much for watching, Amerizza! Have a wonderful evening 🤗🌸
Hi! I think the new setup is definetly an improvement. Keep in mind that Cattleya rex, against contrary belief, is one of the thirstier Cattleyas. The only problem is that it likes to dry in between the waterings which is hard to achieve and not the goal in semi-hydro. But right now, it is very important to move heaven and earth to get these new growths through for them to build the foundation of a new root system when they're mature. I wish you all the best!
Heeeey!!! 🤩🙌🏼💐 so good to see you again! How have you been?? I hope that you are enjoying a great summer and are no where near the flood affected areas!! 🙏🏼 I agree completely with rex being thirstier, and why that did not click in my head... I was literally still in the mind set of doing what I do with orchids when they arrive. Clean up and into a pot and hang the 'do not disturb' sign on them. Now... somewhere in my Schwerter disgust, I lost the eye for detail because I had also lumped them all in with the 'non performers typical Schwerter' group of orchids and totally missed the connection of how I go about treating my other seedlings 🤦🏼♀️ if the pieces did have underlying issues like my Frances Fox from the same order, then I hope I nuked it out of this orchid with an OTT concentration of copper. The roots on the one piece are the best roots I have ever seen on any of the 2 pieces since 2018 when they arrived in my collection. I have hope 😅 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leaving me an encouraging comment! Hope that you are doing well 🤗🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Thank you! You are always so nice and lightening up everybody's day with your kind comments😊😊😊👍👍👍! I was not directly affected by the floods, but in the extreme southern part of the city I live in, a small neighbourhood was inundated 50-70cm deep by a river (I live uphill in the north and was safe but could see was was happening in the news). It was a very scary situation so see the river slowly filling up the whole valley floor in the newsfeed (it was not in the form of a flash flood where I live). But the people are all very helpful and as soon as the water level was low enough to enter the neighbourhood, many showed up with shovels to remove the mud. I wanted to go too, but they were already done😅. Luckily, nobody was injured but some people lost almost everything in their parterre which is a tragedy. To have a comparison: Back in April or March, you uploaded a video of heavy rain in your area. It was raining like that but even heavier, during the night and it went on for many hours. The definition of scary😬. Anyway, I hope your rexes will perform well! I got one from Schwerter in 2019 (before the Frances Fox dilemma) which was from the same "charge" (I do not know the english word right now😅) as yours and it was Fusarium-free which of course is not a guarantee but a good sign.
I am glad to hear that you were not affected and,... faith in humanity is restored when I read how the community came together and rolled up the sleeves to get things cleaned up. That is very heartwarming to hear! Oh, when water gets going and there is nothing but a wall for hours and hours, that is a lot of power and yes, scary!! When you don't see frogs or ducks around anymore, then you know... its trouble! 😬 It is viewers like yourself that lighten up my days and I am always so enriched by your comments! Thank you so much 👍🏼 I saw Matt's rex and his looks amazing, so... ich glaube bei meiner Bestellung war ganz einfach der mega Wurm drin 😆
@@NinjaOrchids I have a new project currently and wanted to ask you what you think about it: I tree-mounted Den.moniliforme in spring here in western Germany where winters are very mild for central european standards, zone 8a to be percise. Hi Nicole 🤩💐 I thought I would add a clip every once in a while now, just so that I can show what I am talking about. 🤪 it has been a very quiet day today on the patio, which was nice! I could get some flushing done without having to worry about the masks blowing away and lots of filming! I have footage to edit that will take me 3 days to complete, so, if the weather switches again tomorrow, or if the gardener decides to play with his noisy toys, I am equipped and can settle down and edit without getting frustrated by the outdoor conditions 👍🏼 thank you, Nicole, very much for watching and let's see what happens from here on in with these 2. At least I feel a lot better now, than I did 48hrs ago. Wouldn't it be amazing to see one of them bloom in 7 years and look back at this video? 😂👍🏼
@@NinjaOrchids, oh my gosh yes!!! I must be a glutton for punishment because I love getting orchids a seedlings. Half of my collection is various stages towards blooming size. I did recently have a temper tantrum from my husky, and he decided to destroy my 2 slowest growers. My paphiopedilum and my cymbidium that were just picking up speed after 2 years!!!! It’s so much fun to see their progress. I can only imagine having loud neighbors. I think I’m the loud neighbor. I’m always outside talking to the dogs, and making noise cleaning. I’m so glad you do these orchid videos. I’ve seen more progress in the past 8 months then I have in the previous 3 years.
oh... dog intervening with orchids.... King is the culprit of 3 orchids and I was so affected for days! To this day, I have trust issues with him, but I would like to believe that he has learned his boundaries. When you write feedback like that... your past 8 months have shown progress.... thank you! Really, thank you so much ❤️
I think maybe there might be something wrong with these particular plants...just not vigorous😥 good excuse to get another one...you know, just in case lol hope it all works out.
Hi Brea 🤩💐 I think that you are right! It has been 3 years and .... yeah! In my last CareCollab on these 2, I nuked them with copper fungicide, and I am hoping that IF it caught something from my Frances Fox, that it was nuked to oblivion and will let my orchids start the slow road to recovery 🤞🏼my favorite nursery would have to stock a rex, and then I would get a replacement. So far, the only nursery that stocks them is the one that will never see another dime from me. 🤞🏼 that, in a couple of months I can happily say LOOK!!! and eventually in 7 years there might even be blooms 😅 thank you so much for watching, lovely lady!! Hope you had a great Monday 🌸
Hey Matt 🤩💐 mine are from a box from dear Schwerter, and the Frances Fox with fusarium was in the same box, .... so.... it has been a steady decline, but I think one of the pieces will be alright as the roots are looking better than they have in years! The new roots, I mean 😅 I will enjoy your blooms and hope that I can still participate in that CareCollab video and show mucho mas progress 🤞🏼😅
@@NinjaOrchids mine is from Schwerter as well. I’m just so sad that you have bad experiences with them. But it’s true - the new roots look really nice. Sending you positive vibes! I keep showing William‘s amazing Cattleyas rexes all the time as an inspiration. Maybe that would work for you as well
Love William's rexes... can't grow them here that way. If that is the only way they can be happy, then, their lifespan with me will be even shorter, and ... I will accept that I cannot grow rex in my climate. It would be nice to prove the 'books' wrong though and show that a rex can be grown this way, just like the dowiana 😬🤞🏼
@@NinjaOrchids well, in my hands the dowiana grows in a very similar way as the rex. So if you’re able to grow a nice dowiana in your setup, why not a rex?
🤩💐Hi!! My apologies for responding so late! Busy day on the patio 😬 really appreciate you taking the time to watch, my friend, thank you so much!! Hope you had a great Monday and that your Tuesday will be a well 🌸
Nina; Are you famiiar with the RUclipsr William Green aka "My Green Pets"? He's the "King Rex" grower with several AOS Awards. William grows indoor.. in a small grow tent he made out of plastic shower curtains.
Hi!! 🤩💐 so good to see you spreading your chill vibe on a Monday, thank you 🙌🏼👍🏼 I really enjoy My Green Pets' channel and he was part of the first CareCollab on C rex. One of his rex is called 'Nina' which translates to fire in the language that is native to the area rexes come from, and I am sorry, I do not remember what that language is called. His controlled environment is so dialled in, he did a great job! Gives me the drive to make these weaklings of mine happier down the line. Mine came very weak with an order that I was not impressed by at all, and I am fighting for some orchids from that order, 3 years down the line. I hope that I can make one of the 2 pieces happy at some point, and if not, then ... I would like to try again, but with a healthy plant, just to see if it is my set up or it was the lack of vigor of the plants I got. I am growing dowiana in the same manner, and it is an incredibly vigorous orchid... I got a healthy plant. So, I am crossing my fingers that one of the 2 pieces manages to pull through (the one with the roots coming, is looking promising) and then have a reset and get some vigor into them. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

When you write feedback like that... your past 8 months have shown progress.... thank you! Really, thank you so much ❤️
@@NinjaOrchidsit really helps knowing that I’m not the only one with a dog that can be a jerk! Thank you so much Nina! Stay safe! 🌸🌈✌️
I think maybe there might be something wrong with these particular plants...just not vigorous😥
good excuse to get another one...you know, just in case lol hope it all works out.
I'm so sorry yours are so fuzzy! Hope they will improve in the new setup. One of them will!!!
That's what I say 😉
👍👍🤞🤞💯💯
Too many plants have died In my hands due to this kind of mind block. It's like you know what to do but you don't decide to do it or you do it too late
Aleibis, hi! 🤗💐 welcome!! A very warm welcome to my comments' section, I really appreciate you being here and watching this video. So good to have another new name for my Blooms For You list! I am glad that what I was talking about made sense to someone, although I know that it is unfortunate when one is too late to intervene. I have some cases I need to tackle as well, and I know what I want to do, but... have to pull the trigger, and just hope it is not too late 😅 so cool to have someone that can relate! I hope that you do not suffer anymore losses 🤞🏼 once again, welcome! 🤩🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Thank you for your kind welcome. I hope I put myself more in to it and learn more things from your experiences
Any questions... always feel free to ask! Anything at all, even if it has nothing to do with the video of the day 👍🏼
