Yeah, it's likely not just you. Earlier on when making videos I was having a hard time getting the volume to come out at the proper level. It sounded good when I exported the video, but once uploaded the sound was dampened. On my more recent videos I have upped the volume as much as I can, but still lower than I would like it to be. Sorry about that, still a work in progress. I appreciate you taking the time to listen, I hope you were able to get the volume to where you needed it to hear!
Thank you for the kind words and I am very sorry about the volume. At the time there were a few videos which sounded great on my end volume wise, but after upload pretty much required a hearing aid to listen too. I hope at least you were able to find a way to turn it up and listen!

Great video from you though it may reflect Voltaire’s beliefs, writer Evelyn Hall actually coined the quote "I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" in her biography about Voltaire. I hope the correction does not diminish the compliment as your work is a great watch!
Thanks so much John, and you are absolutely right! I was sure he said it in a letter to d'Alembert, but further looking into it I see what you say is true. Unfortunately, or should i say fortunately, I do make mistakes here and there, but I always have great viewers like yourself there to correct me. It does not take away from your compliments, on the contrary I am honored to have people there to convey the truth constructively. A very rare thing to find, so thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Excellent work!..Just a note, the quote about defending one's right to have to voice an opinion was not actually stated by Voltaire, though many wrongly believe it is his.
Thank you for the great video, I’m doing a presentation about Voltaire (and I don’t know much about him and his works, since I’ve only read Candide), so this will definitely come in handy.
Thank you for the kind words, I am glad that you found it helpful! I try my best, even when summarizing, to make it as clear as possible so that even those who may not know much about the philosopher in question will understand without significant issues.
Indeed, I was having a pretty rough time figuring out the proper sound settings when I first started creating videos. I have gotten it mostly figured out now, mostly... Also, sorry for the late reply, been away for the past couple of months, thanks for taking the time to watch the video!
@@LetsTalkPhilosophy Voltaire said the essence of the Enlightenment is tolerance, yet the modern critics of the Enlightenment, such as postmodernists, are extremely intolerant.
Nice video. Voltaire was right when he said: "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." And yet what has happened in Georgia, On January the 6th, when it comes to demagogues and conspiracy theorists like Trump, Vladimir Putin, Nigel Farage, Stephen Yaxley Lennon AKA Tommy Robinson, Adolf Hitler, Alex Jones and any Anti-WEF and anti-Vaccines person, that perfectly describes the quote
We as humans, it seems, have always had a problem with our political leaders being, let's say, less than honest. If we can learn anything from the century we just emerged from it is that if we pave our roads with bricks of lies then we should not be surprised if hell is where said road leads. I suppose they would not do it if it did not prove effective for their personal goals. Cheers for taking the time to watch!
Yes, we should round up all those people on your list and exterminate them…right, right guys? “If you want to know who rules over you, look to those you cannot criticize. “ voiltare. So many philosophers’ quotes can sound like it was written just for your special little team.

Honestly i was just googling which philosophers from the renaissance had ideas that looked like modern day philosophy. Then i found out he was kinda extreme and went on a youtube binge to find out what he's really all about because I was too lazy to read a long article on him. Maybe in stead of making a video on a certain philosopher like u did here it might be interesting to look at a certain question and then go through the history of most era defining answers to that question from the different philosophers. I think a lot of people including me aren't well read enough to really be interested in a certain philosopher but of course every normal person has thought about certain questions.
I think Voltaire rejects and undermines too many fundamental traditionalist philosophical beliefs and goes too far, but he does make some good points and some of his philosophy is definitely beneficial.
I apologize for that, this was during the time when I was trying to figure the audio volume out, I have been thinking of just doing another video or reuploading this one with better volume. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Is it just me or is the audio extremely low?
