I wish i was good enough to busk somewhere. During covid, i just play this thing all day long. I still love it even if i just play for me! Have fun and wow them Richard!!
Has stopped the guitar for about 20 years and took it back couple of weeks ago with the intention to get seriously at it. Struggled to improvise over most tracks until this one came along. Suddenly it didn’t feel like practice anymore. It feels awesome. Thanks
Thank you for putting this out there, I recently bought a resinator for playing slide. Learned more in twenty minutes tonight than in the seven months I've owned the guitar. Really helped me understand the keys!
I began to play the electric guitar in 2019. I really couldn't tell how many times I've played along this backing track of yours ever since then. It makes me "hear" so many great melodies. What I would love even more, a shorter 3 minute version of this.
I don't know what it is about this track but just being in the beautiful key of Gm, the slow soulful melody ... I don't know, all I know is that this track is my go to in order to get in my zone every single time! It's a classic in my book with no doubt.
Playing along with this track finally made a few things "click". Mostly simple stuff I've heard over the years but I didn't really understand how to utilize it. I knew playing form 1 scale starting at root is my major pentatonic. Move down 4 frets and play the exact same scale---that's my minor pentatonic. That seemed like a really handy trick, but I didn't understand how (or when) to deploy it. Playing with this track taught me when to play major pent and when to play minor pent. And how to make a smooth, nice sounding transition between both positions. Also, I'm starting to utilize the other 4 pentatonic shapes more often. I'm no longer stuck in the box! Form 1 pentatonic is so overrated 😂 It feels good to *finally* get some practical use of the bits of theory I've accumulated. I might be able to trick people into thinking I'm a decent guitar player now 😂
Combine Mixolydian with the Blues scale for this: 1-2-b3/3-4-b5-5-6-b7. That’s 9 out of all 12 notes; even b2-b6-7 can be used in chromatic passages on the way to an inside note. The b3 must always resolve upwards to 3, and never the reverse. Start by being able to play the 3 and b7, the tritone, of each of the 3 Dominant 7 chords; they will be located all 3 right next to each other on the same pair of strings. Because the tritone is the only interval that looks the same when inverted (3/b7 or b7/3), that means the IV chord’s tritone is DOWN one fret and the V chord’s tritone is UP one fret. The tritones will also form a DIAGONAL LINE right across the fretboard (in at least 2 places). Being able to “comp” (play backing chords) by being able to quickly locate these tritones all over the neck is the best way to be able to grab the absolute best 2 notes for each of the 3 Dominant 7 chords. Experiment with this and you will quickly see what I’m pointing out. Tritones rule!
Thanks man. In the middle of corona virus so I can't play gigs and tired of playing alone. Grabbed my sax, harps, keyboard and jammed along with you. Almost like being there. Be well!
I like the fact that you give your own harmony in the beginning to give me some new ideas. And I like that you have it in Nashville Notation! Good video, more please!
Thanks Sebastien for this beautiful track.. I am learning al sorts of new things .. Happy New year and keep on rockin that Blues ! Greetings from WA State USA
Hi Sebastian Mike here in durham England, if I am right it's little willy john 1955 ,I have just found this one, late as ever so nice to play along, l was five years old when this was released ,o well old age is not so bad if you consider the alternative God bless mike cole

Hey...This is great man. Slow blues is what I like. This is really cool, first time ever I tried playing to a backing track and I really dig it.I can't believe I got right in there and made it sound good, relative to my limited experience.. Lucky I pretty much know the G major/minor pentatonic scales. Thanks a lot Sebbie. I'm gonna learn good with this. You're bookmarked now, be back for more.
Using this for blues on the banjo is a lot of fun. Keeping sync with the guitar is where it's tricky, but some fancy fret play is all I need to get back on beat. Great track, great job, and thank you. Salut, from the US, and I hope you're well :)
When I first started playing again, I wasn't really into this backing track much. Now that the same old I-IV-V blues progressions have started to bore me, I've suddenly realized this track is absolute gold! It's an absolute playground for Dominant 7 chords! The C#dim chord thrown in there just adds flavor we won't see in any run-of-the-mill blues tracks. We're definitely modulating to a different key, (maybe more?), but I'm not really sure where because its so brief and not enough context to say exactly where....is this a good example of V of V changes? Plus I'm thinking this is 6/8 time as well which is just even more icing on the cake. Thank you Sebastien, hope you are well!
This is just one variation of an 8 bar blues. Check out "Ain't Nobodies Business". There are many different ways to approach this kind of progresstion.
Hey Sebastien, I was looking for some different tracks and came upon this one. I like how you started playing over it. I went back and tried to play what you were doing. I got some of it, but only just some of it.You are a very fine player. Its like the blues just comes out of you beautifully. You are the real deal man. Thanks for being so good. And thanks for the track as well.

Hello pia, thank you so much ! Have great holidays and a merry Christmas for you and your family
Thx for this. Im year 7 of my school and we have an exam and me and my band chose to do blues, so this gave me real inspiration
Play whichever scale you feel like playing. This is Blues.
Yeah that clearly won’t work. Do you honestly think every single mode is suitable for blues? That’s silly. And there’s no reason they should be
@@Shayne_Mushin If notes sound ok, the scale is not important.
This is so good and enjoyed playing along to it.
This is so Peter Green late of Fleetwood Mac - You know I need your love so bad !
Just crated music for the first time ever to this backing track thanks so much!

Great backing track. Makes me get right into it. Thank you !!
This a great backing track thank you so much. Great way to get your practice in and really feel the rhythm. Love the C# or that little half step move
i made things work with my rusty classical, by note choice rhytm and dynamics. no bending needed ;)

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams, I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light, I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
Then the sign said, "The words on the prophets are written on the subway walls
In tenement halls"
And whispered in the sound of silence
I like singing to this track. Get some good relief
Love this clip. Great!
