  • Show what the OBS Studio settings should be for using Intel QuickSync encoding.
    Streamers with single PC set-ups can benefit from using the on-board Intel graphics card which they usually leave disabled. Doing so it is possible to keep decent streaming encoding without taxing the CPU nor the main graphics card at all, which is useful for resource hungry games.

    What target usage option would be best for a really low end PC?

    Hey, thanks for the video, very helpful. I have a couple of questions:
    a) an i7 4770k will be capable of streaming fast moving games like doom eternal or upcoming cyberpunk using the igpu with quicksync at 1080p 60fps? or i will need to downscale it to 720p?
    b) how weak is a i7 4770k igpu in terms of streaming/transcoding compared to the modern igpus? cant find any info/benchmark

    question: is x264 better than quick sync? i have a okay laptop and i can’t tell the difference. I want the best fps to do my videos.

      Hi NightFoxy. The image quality is better with software x264. The new NVENC from 2000 series nVidia is almost as good and moves the workload away from your CPU. Intel Quicksync has a very good quality too (slightly less than software and slightly less than the new NVENC) but the major advantage is that you move the load away from your CPU to your onboard graphics card.
      So this set up is really for some specific streaming configurations, i.e.: You have only a single PC to game and stream from (a.k.a. single PC rig), your PC has an onboard Intel based graphics card which you otherwise do not use, and your main gaming card is an AMD or nVidia 1000 or less series (GTX series with a number lower than 2000).
      The ideal dream rig would be a two PC system, one gaming PC and a dedicated streaming PC with video capture device and all your webcams on it. Then you would let the CPU do all the load as it has nothing else to do but that, as you would be gaming on the first system.

    hi, how do you enable the on-board intel graphics card?

    • @TontonZen
      @TontonZen  4 года назад +2

      In the BIOS settings. The problem for me to show you where to do that in your BIOS is that there so many different brands and models of the BIOS management software. You would have to explore your BIOS yourself for that. If needed do not hesitate to ask a friend that knows IT to help you out with that part.

    Should I use quick synch or nvenc?

    • @TontonZen
      @TontonZen  Год назад +1

      Hi, almost three years have passed meanwhile and nVidia brought the 2000 series and 3000 series. That changes things of course.
      There is no short answer because the short answer would be: "it depends".
      If you are on a budget and still have a 1000 series card, or if your game is recent and resource hungry enough to require all what your main graphics card can offer, then yes the mother board on-board, unused graphics card is the encoder you should pick (QuickSync).
      However, if your game has 5+ years and you have the latest nVidia then go for the nvenc. The nvenc encoder made tremendous progress in video quality and speed as of the 2000 series and if you are not hitting the graphics card's limits with a game not as demanding then go for nvenc. When you start seeing encoding frame drops or lag in the game, then go back to QuickSync.
