    I am so Very Proud of you Rick, Homer is going to be able to pull again. I've been watching you for a long, long time, I don't comment much, but when I see stuff that needs to be said for the good, I'll mention it. And Jamie you have some pretty little baby ducks there, just let the mama's be mama's and everything will just be hunky dorie. Nuff Said.

      @ClassicTruckRescue oops! We never had anything but a chain that went around the post and clipped like a dog leash. I can hear that jingling sound clearly in my mind still today. Going through that gate was going into adventure for me as a kid. 80 acres of freedom. As a kid, that was like a whole country. just don't climb fences, or grandaddy would be mad.

    I forgot all about "Homer's Last Stand" and wondering, when you walked up to it, how the hell a rod knock was causing the rear end to smoke:)

    • @ClassicTruckRescue
      @ClassicTruckRescue  3 месяца назад

      The rearend was smoking because the brakes went out on our way back to the Ranch and Big Steve was using the E-Brake to finish the mission.

    Rick, Very good video. But i think you should have done some more research on the 8.2L, the Re-man at 80k is a tell right there..... try to sell it and go with your BB Chevy or a Cummings . before you put more time and money in this. open deck design, head gasket issues. there are some youtube videos on this engine.

      @ClassicTruckRescue  4 месяца назад

      You are correct, but I've also been told that when they underwent a factory remanufacture, they recieved upgrades. Its also an easy route to power steering and brakes for Homer and I'm not getting any younger. I know they aren't big horsepower engines, but I'm looking for steady and consistent.

    Hello Rick great video I came across your channel because I’m currently doing some research about a build I’m planning on doing. Basically long story short I’m trading a snowplow for a 6v53 mated to an Allison 643. And I have a truck that’s needing a new motor. But it’s a 65 ford. Not really worthy of a Detroit swap. Then I thought of the Chevrolet Viking and thought man that’d be one hell of rig and decided right then and there about 6 hours ago that this would be the kind of truck that would be receiving that 1700 pound monstrosity of a power plant. I wanted to try to figure out what kind of issues might arise with this kind of swap. So after a bit of digging it seems to me you’re one of very few to have done this with a Detroit.
    Disclaimer: I know there are other detroits out there for around the same price that’d probably be better but if you’re thinking that you’re forgetting I’m trading a snowplow that I don’t need for it. Thank you

      It was something she wanted to do. I don't tell Jamie what to do and she shows me the same respect. Also, Jamie hasn't had long hair since before I met her. Her ex was physically abusive and she can't grow long hair because he ripped it out in the back and on top. When it looked like she had long hair, those were extensions. I'm okay with whatever she does as long as she is happy.

      The pintle hitch snapped on the way home. Fortunately it happened in the parking lot where I showed it. If that would've broke on a mountain it might've gone a lot worse. No, I don't regret leaving that big hunk of steel behind.
